An Infinite-Dimensional □q\square_q-Module Obtained from the qq-Shuffle Algebra for Affine sl2\mathfrak{sl}_2

Let F\mathbb F denote a field, and pick a nonzero q∈Fq \in \mathbb F that is not a root of unity. Let Z4=Z/4Z\mathbb Z_4=\mathbb Z/4 \mathbb Z denote the cyclic group of order 4. Define a unital associative F{\mathbb F}-algebra □q\square_q by generators {xi}i∈Z4\lbrace x_i \rbrace_{i \in \mathbb Z_4} and relations qxixi+1−q−1xi+1xiq−q−1=1,xi3xi+2−[3]qxi2xi+2xi+[3]qxixi+2xi2−xi+2xi3=0,\frac{q x_i x_{i+1}-q^{-1}x_{i+1}x_i}{q-q^{-1}} = 1,\qquad x^3_i x_{i+2} - \lbrack 3 \rbrack_q x^2_i x_{i+2} x_i + \lbrack 3 \rbrack_q x_i x_{i+2} x^2_i -x_{i+2} x^3_i = 0, where [3]q=(q3−q−3)/(q−q−1)\lbrack 3 \rbrack_q = \big(q^3-q^{-3}\big)/\big(q-q^{-1}\big). Let VV denote a □q\square_q-module. A vector ξ∈Vξ\in V is called NIL whenever x1ξ=0x_1 ξ= 0 and x3ξ=0x_3 ξ=0 and ξ≠0ξ\not=0. The □q\square_q-module VV is called NIL whenever VV is generated by a NIL vector. We show that up to isomorphism there exists a unique NIL □q\square_q-module, and it is irreducible and infinite-dimensional. We describe this module from sixteen points of view. In this description an important role is played by the qq-shuffle algebra for affine sl2\mathfrak{sl}_2.

An algebraic interpretation of the multivariate qq-Krawtchouk polynomials

The multivariate quantum qq-Krawtchouk polynomials are shown to arise as matrix elements of "qq-rotations" acting on the state vectors of many qq-oscillators. The focus is put on the two-variable case. The algebraic interpretation is used to derive the main properties of the polynomials: orthogonality, duality, structure relations, difference equations and recurrence relations. The extension to an arbitrary number of variables is presented

Invariant Classification and Limits of Maximally Superintegrable Systems in 3D

The invariant classification of superintegrable systems is reviewed and utilized to construct singular limits between the systems. It is shown, by construction, that all superintegrable systems on conformally flat, 3D complex Riemannian manifolds can be obtained from singular limits of a generic system on the sphere. By using the invariant classification, the limits are geometrically motivated in terms of transformations of roots of the classifying polynomials.

Racah Polynomials and Recoupling Schemes of su(1,1)\mathfrak{su}(1,1)

The connection between the recoupling scheme of four copies of su(1,1)\mathfrak{su}(1,1), the generic superintegrable system on the 3 sphere, and bivariate Racah polynomials is identified. The Racah polynomials are presented as connection coefficients between eigenfunctions separated in different spherical coordinate systems and equivalently as different irreducible decompositions of the tensor product representations. As a consequence of the model, an extension of the quadratic algebra QR(3){\rm QR}(3) is given. It is shown that this algebra closes only with the inclusion of an additional shift operator, beyond the eigenvalue operators for the bivariate Racah polynomials, whose polynomial eigenfunctions are determined. The duality between the variables and the degrees, and hence the bispectrality of the polynomials, is interpreted in terms of expansion coefficients of the separated solutions.

qq-Rotations and Krawtchouk polynomials

An algebraic interpretation of the one-variable quantum qq-Krawtchouk polynomials is provided in the framework of the Schwinger realization of Uq(sl2)\mathcal{U}_{q}(sl_{2}) involving two independent qq-oscillators. The polynomials are shown to arise as matrix elements of unitary "qq-rotation" operators expressed as qq-exponentials in the Uq(sl2)\mathcal{U}_{q}(sl_{2}) generators. The properties of the polynomials (orthogonality relation, generating function, structure relations, recurrence relation, difference equation) are derived by exploiting the algebraic setting. The results are extended to another family of polynomials, the affine qq-Krawtchouk polynomials, through a duality relation.

Quantum Integrals from Coalgebra Structure

Quantum versions of the hydrogen atom and the harmonic oscillator are studied on non Euclidean spaces of dimension N. 2N-1 integrals, of arbitrary order, are constructed via a multi-dimensional version of the factorization method, thus confirming the conjecture of D Riglioni 2013 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 46 265207. The systems are extended via coalgebra extension of sl(2) representations, although not all integrals are expressible in these generators. As an example, dimensional reduction is applied to 4D systems to obtain extension and new proofs of the superintegrability of known families of Hamiltonians.

Classical and Quantum Superintegrability with Applications

A superintegrable system is, roughly speaking, a system that allows more integrals of motion than degrees of freedom. This review is devoted to finite dimensional classical and quantum superintegrable systems with scalar potentials and integrals of motion that are polynomials in the momenta. We present a classification of second-order superintegrable systems in two-dimensional Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian spaces. It is based on the study of the quadratic algebras of the integrals of motion and on the equivalence of different systems under coupling constant metamorphosis. The determining equations for the existence of integrals of motion of arbitrary order in real Euclidean space E2E_2 are presented and partially solved for the case of third-order integrals. A systematic exposition is given of systems in two and higher dimensional space that allow integrals of arbitrary order. The algebras of integrals of motions are not necessarily quadratic but close polynomially or rationally. The relation between superintegrability and the classification of orthogonal polynomials is analyzed.

Contractions of 2D 2nd Order Quantum Superintegrable Systems and the Askey Scheme for Hypergeometric Orthogonal Polynomials

We show explicitly that all 2nd order superintegrable systems in 2 dimensions are limiting cases of a single system: the generic 3-parameter potential on the 2-sphere, S9 in our listing. We extend the Wigner-Inönü method of Lie algebra contractions to contractions of quadratic algebras and show that all of the quadratic symmetry algebras of these systems are contractions of that of S9. Amazingly, all of the relevant contractions of these superintegrable systems on flat space and the sphere are uniquely induced by the well known Lie algebra contractions of e(2) and so(3). By contracting function space realizations of irreducible representations of the S9 algebra (which give the structure equations for Racah/Wilson polynomials) to the other superintegrable systems, and using Wigner's idea of "saving" a representation, we obtain the full Askey scheme of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials. This relationship directly ties the polynomials and their structure equations to physical phenomena. It is more general because it applies to all special functions that arise from these systems via separation of variables, not just those of hypergeometric type, and it extends to higher dimensions.

A superintegrable finite oscillator in two dimensions with SU(2) symmetry

A superintegrable finite model of the quantum isotropic oscillator in two dimensions is introduced. It is defined on a uniform lattice of triangular shape. The constants of the motion for the model form an SU(2) symmetry algebra. It is found that the dynamical difference eigenvalue equation can be written in terms of creation and annihilation operators. The wavefunctions of the Hamiltonian are expressed in terms of two known families of bivariate Krawtchouk polynomials; those of Rahman and those of Tratnik. These polynomials form bases for SU(2) irreducible representations. It is further shown that the pair of eigenvalue equations for each of these families are related to each other by an SU(2) automorphism. A finite model of the anisotropic oscillator that has wavefunctions expressed in terms of the same Rahman polynomials is also introduced. In the continuum limit, when the number of grid points goes to infinity, standard two-dimensional harmonic oscillators are obtained. The analysis provides the N→∞N\rightarrow \infty limit of the bivariate Krawtchouk polynomials as a product of one-variable Hermite polynomials.

Families of superintegrable Hamiltonians constructed from exceptional polynomials

We introduce a family of exactly-solvable two-dimensional Hamiltonians whose wave functions are given in terms of Laguerre and exceptional Jacobi polynomials. The Hamiltonians contain purely quantum terms which vanish in the classical limit leaving only a previously known family of superintegrable systems. Additional, higher-order integrals of motion are constructed from ladder operators for the considered orthogonal polynomials proving the quantum system to be superintegrable.

Infinite families of superintegrable systems separable in subgroup coordinates

A method is presented that makes it possible to embed a subgroup separable superintegrable system into an infinite family of systems that are integrable and exactly-solvable. It is shown that in two dimensional Euclidean or pseudo-Euclidean spaces the method also preserves superintegrability. Two infinite families of classical and quantum superintegrable systems are obtained in two-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space whose classical trajectories and quantum eigenfunctions are investigated. In particular, the wave-functions are expressed in terms of Laguerre and generalized Bessel polynomials.

An infinite family of superintegrable Hamiltonians with reflection in the plane

We introduce a new infinite class of superintegrable quantum systems in the plane. Their Hamiltonians involve reflection operators. The associated Schrödinger equations admit separation of variables in polar coordinates and are exactly solvable. The angular part of the wave function is expressed in terms of little -1 Jacobi polynomials. The spectra exhibit "accidental" degeneracies. The superintegrability of the model is proved using the recurrence relation approach. The (higher-order) constants of motion are constructed and the structure equations of the symmetry algebra obtained.

Models of Quadratic Algebras Generated by Superintegrable Systems in 2D

In this paper, we consider operator realizations of quadratic algebras generated by second-order superintegrable systems in 2D. At least one such realization is given for each set of Stäckel equivalent systems for both degenerate and nondegenerate systems. In almost all cases, the models can be used to determine the quantization of energy and eigenvalues for integrals associated with separation of variables in the original system.

Two-Variable Wilson Polynomials and the Generic Superintegrable System on the 3-Sphere

We show that the symmetry operators for the quantum superintegrable system on the 3-sphere with generic 4-parameter potential form a closed quadratic algebra with 6 linearly independent generators that closes at order 6 (as differential operators). Further there is an algebraic relation at order 8 expressing the fact that there are only 5 algebraically independent generators. We work out the details of modeling physically relevant irreducible representations of the quadratic algebra in terms of divided difference operators in two variables. We determine several ON bases for this model including spherical and cylindrical bases. These bases are expressed in terms of two variable Wilson and Racah polynomials with arbitrary parameters, as defined by Tratnik. The generators for the quadratic algebra are expressed in terms of recurrence operators for the one-variable Wilson polynomials. The quadratic algebra structure breaks the degeneracy of the space of these polynomials. In an earlier paper the authors found a similar characterization of one variable Wilson and Racah polynomials in terms of irreducible representations of the quadratic algebra for the quantum superintegrable system on the 2-sphere with generic 3-parameter potential. This indicates a general relationship between 2nd order superintegrable systems and discrete orthogonal polynomials.
