Two opposite constant-sign solutions to a non-variational p-Laplacian system with Robin boundary conditions are obtained via sub-super-solution techniques. A third nontrivial one comes out by means of topological degree arguments.
Some recent existence, multiplicity, and uniqueness results for singular p-Laplacian systems either in bounded domains or in the whole space are presented, with a special attention to the case of convective reactions. A extensive bibliography is also provided.
The existence of a positive entire weak solution to a singular quasi-linear elliptic system with convection terms is established, chiefly through perturbation techniques, fixed point arguments, and a priori estimates. Some regularity results are then employed to show that the obtained solution is actually strong.
We prove the existence of $N$ distinct pairs of nontrivial solutions for critical $p$-Laplacian problems in ${\mathbb R}^N$, as well as in bounded domains. To overcome the difficulties arising from the lack of compactness, we use a recent global compactness result of Mercuri and Willem.
The existence of two nontrivial smooth solutions to a semilinear Robin problem with indefinite unbounded potential and asymmetric nonlinearity $f$ is established. Both crossing and resonance are allowed. A third nonzero solution exists provided $f$ is $C^1$. Proofs exploit variational methods, truncation techniques, and Morse theory.
We obtain nontrivial solutions of a critical $(p,q)$-Laplacian problem in a bounded domain. In addition to the usual difficulty of the loss of compactness associated with problems involving critical Sobolev exponents, this problem lacks a direct sum decomposition suitable for applying the classical linking theorem. We show that every Palais-Smale sequence at a level below a certain energy threshold admits a subsequence that converges weakly to a nontrivial critical point of the variational functional. Then we prove an abstract critical point theorem based on a cohomological index and use it to construct a minimax level below this threshold.
The existence of three smooth solutions, one negative, one positive, and one nodal, to a homogeneous Robin problem with $p$-Laplacian and Carathéodory reaction is established. No sub-critical growth condition is taken on. Proofs exploit variational as well as truncation techniques. The case $p=2$ is separately examined, obtaining a further nodal solution via Morse's theory.
