Entanglement entropy at critical points of classical evolution in oscillatory and exotic singularity multiverse models

Using the 3rd quantization formalism we study the quantum entanglement of universes created in pairs within the framework of standard homogeneous and isotropic cosmology. In particular, we investigate entanglement quantities (entropy, temperature) around maxima, minima and inflection points of the classical evolution. The novelty from previous works is that we show how the entanglement changes in an extended minisuperspace parameterised by the scale factor and additionally, by the massless scalar field. We study the entanglement quantities for the universes which classically exhibit Big-Bang and other than Big-Bang (exotic) singularities such as Big-Brake, Big-Freeze, Big-Separation, and Little-Rip. While taking into account the scalar field, we find that the entanglement entropy is finite at the Big-Bang singularity and diverges at maxima or minima of expansion. As for the exotic singularity models we find that the entanglement entropy or the temperature in all the critical points and singularities is either finite or infinite, but it never vanishes. This shows that each of the universes of a pair is entangled to a degree parametrized by the entanglement quantities which measure the quantumness of the system. Apart from the von Neumann entanglement entropy, we also check the behaviour of the the Tsallis and the Renyi entanglement entropies, and find that they behave similarly as the meters of the quantumness. Finally, we find that the best-fit relation between the entanglement entropy and the Hubble parameter (which classically marks special points of the universe evolution) is of the logarithmic shape, and not polynomial, as one could initially expect.

Entanglement arrow of time in the multiverse

In this paper it is presented the model of a multiverse made up of entangled pairs of universes. The arrow of time obtained from the principles of thermodynamics and the arrow of time given by the thermodynamics of entanglement for single universes are analyzed. The latter requires that the single universes expand once they have crossed the quantum barrier at the Euclidean regime. The possible relationship with respect to the grow of local structures in a single universe is also discussed.

Quantum entanglement in the multiverse

In this paper it is shown that the quantum state of a multiverse made up of classically disconnected regions of the space-time, whose dynamical evolution is dominated by a homogeneous and isotropic fluid, is given by a squeezed state. These are typical quantum states that have no classical counterpart and, therefore, they allow us to analyze the violation of classical inequalities as well as the EPR argument in the context of the quantum multiverse. The thermodynamical properties of entanglement are calculated for a composite quantum state of two universes whose states are quantum mechanically correlated. The energy of entanglement between the positive and negative modes of a scalar field, which correspond to the expanding and contracting branches of a phantom universe, respectively, are also computed.

Quantum state of the multiverse

A third quantization formalism is applied to a simplified multiverse scenario. A well defined quantum state of the multiverse is obtained which agrees with standard boundary condition proposals. These states are found to be squeezed, and related to accelerating universes: they share similar properties to those obtained previously by Grishchuk and Siderov. We also comment on related works that have criticized the third quantization approach.

A dark energy multiverse

We present cosmic solutions corresponding to universes filled with dark and phantom energy, all having a negative cosmological constant. All such solutions contain infinite singularities, successively and equally distributed along time, which can be either big bang/crunchs or big rips singularities. Classicaly these solutions can be regarded as associated with multiverse scenarios, being those corresponding to phantom energy that may describe the current accelerating universe.
