Transitioning late-time cosmology with the Hubble parameterization

We investigate a late-time cosmological model for a homogeneous and isotropic space-time in the Rastall theory. We explore the observational constraints on the Hubble parameter by using the latest cosmological datasets such as cosmic microwave background radiation (Planck), baryon acoustic oscillations (DESI) and Type Ia Supernovae (Union 3.0). As a result, we explicitly demonstrate that the specific redshift transition occurs, namely, there happens a phase shift in the evolution of the universe from the initial deceleration era to the current accelerating phase of the cosmological scenario. Furthermore, we show that with the latest dataset of DESI-BAO clubbed with CC, CMB, and Union 3.0, the current value of the Hubble parameter is estimated as $H_0 = 66.945 \pm 1.094$, which can be compatible with the available observations.

Analytical study of ion-acoustic solitary waves in a magnetized plasma with degenerate electrons

The propagation of fully nonlinear ion acoustic solitary waves (IASW) in a magneto-plasma with degenerate electrons was investigated by Abdelsalam et al. [[1] Physics Letters A 372 (2008) 4923]. Based on their work in the present work, a rigorous and general analytical study is presented. This confirms their implied assumption that (i) only hump and no cavity is possible and (ii) for humps, the algebraic equation for the maximum density N obtained by them determines it uniquely (naturally assumes N > 1). Here we confirm analytically their assertion that N decreases with lx (the direction cosine of the wave vector k along the x-axis) and N increases with the increase of the Mach number (M).

Gravitational wave: generation and detection techniques

In this paper, we review the theoretical basis for generation of gravitational waves and the detection techniques used to detect a gravitational wave. To materialize this goal in a thorough way we first start with a mathematical background for general relativity from which a clue for gravitational wave was conceived by Einstein. Thereafter we give the classification scheme of gravitational waves such as (i) continuous gravitational waves, (ii) compact binary inspiral gravitational waves and (iii) stochastic gravitational wave. Necessary mathematical insight into gravitational waves from binaries are also dealt with which follows detection of gravitational waves based on the frequency classification. Ground based observatories as well as space borne gravitational wave detectors are discussed in a length. We have provided an overview on the inflationary gravitational waves. In connection to data analysis by matched filtering there are a few highlights on the techniques, e.g. (i) Random noise, (ii) power spectrum, (iii) shot noise, and (iv) Gaussian noise. Optimal detection statistics for a gravitational wave detection is also in the pipeline of the discussion along with detailed necessity of the matched filter and deep learning.

Anisotropic compact star with a linear pressure-density relationship

We present a model of compact astrophysical object under General Theory of Relativity using the anisotropic extension of Tolman IV solution. The anisotropy function, derived from the model, remains well behaved throughout the interior of the star. The model satisfies several necessary conditions for a physically realistic compact star. Physical viability of the model is verified specifically by plugging in the estimated parameter values of the Low Mass X-ray Binary (LMXB) candidate 4U 1608 - 52. Our stability analysis of this star, by using various criteria for stability, provide satisfactory results. In connection to anisotropy, we compute the Tidal Love Number (TLN) for the compact stellar model and compare the calculated values with existing literature.

Collapsing scenario for the k-essence emergent generalised Vaidya spacetime in the context of massive gravity's rainbow

In this paper, we study the collapsing scenario for the k-essence emergent Vaidya spacetime in the context of massive gravity's rainbow. For this study, we consider that the background metric is Vaidya spacetime in massive gravity's rainbow. We show that the k-essence emergent gravity metric resembles closely to the new type of generalized Vaidya massive gravity metric with the rainbow deformations for null fluid collapse where we consider the k-essence scalar field as a function solely of the advanced or the retarded time. The k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity rainbow mass function is also different. This new type k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity rainbow metric has satisfied the required energy conditions. The existence of the locally naked central singularity, the strength and the strongness of the singularities for the rainbow deformations of the k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity metric are the interesting outcomes of the present work.

Gravastar under the framework of braneworld gravity II: effect of the Kuchowicz metric function

In recent years, a class of compact objects called gravastars have drawn immense interest as regular solutions to end state stellar collapse. Since the energy density involved in collapse process is expected to be high, it is a natural choice to study such compact objects in context of modified gravity theories which reduce to General Relativity (GR) in the low energy regime. We have already framed a model of gravastar in such a modified gravity framework involving extra dimensional Randall-Sundrum (RS) single brane gravity~[Phys. Rev. D \textbf{102}, 024037 (2020)] \cite{Sengupta1}. As a sequel in the present paper we substantially improve our previous model by choosing the Kuchowicz function as one of the metric potentials, which leads to many new interesting results and physical features from our analysis as discussed in this paper. Also, we provide essential additional stability checks on our gravastar model to investigate the possibility of any instability creeping in due to the higher dimensional framework. Our present improved gravastar model is found to clear all the stability checks successfully. Very interestingly, the static spherically symmetric matter distributions are found to accommodate both classes of solutions obeying and violating the modified energy conditions on the RS brane as we find in this work. We can conclude from our analysis that the Kuchowicz metric potential is very effective for describing regular solutions to compact objects at substantially high energies on the 3-brane.

Modified Power law Inflation: solution to the graceful exit problem and improvement of dark energy models

We study power law inflation (PLI) with a monomial potential and find a novel exact solution. It is well known that conventional PLI with exponential potential is inconsistent with the Planck data. Unlike the standard PLI, present model does not suffer from graceful exit problem and it agrees fairly well with recent observations. We have calculated the spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio which are in very good agreement with recent observational data and also comparable with other modified inflationary models. A technique has been used which shows that the large cosmological constant reduces with expansion of the Universe in case of the power law inflation. The coupling of the inflaton with gravitation is the main point in this technique. The basic assumption here is that the two metric tensors in the gravitational and the inflaton parts correspond to different conformal frames which is in contradiction with the conventional power law inflation where the inflaton directly coupled with the background metric tensor. This fact has direct application to different dark energy models and assisted quintessence theory.

Weyl transformation: a dynamical degree of freedom in the light of Dirac's Large Number Hypothesis

In Einstein's Field Equation(EFE) the geometry of the space-time is connected with the matter distribution. The geometry or the gravitational sector deals with classical macroscopic objects involving gravitational units while the matter sector can be better described by quantum theory involving atomic units. It has been argued by Bisabr that there exists an epoch-dependent conversion factor between these two unit systems present in two different conformal frames,i.e. the conformal factor is epoch dependent. We argue that the conformal transformation is a dynamical degree of freedom describing it's possible relevance in inflation in context to the graceful exit problem, dynamics of the cosmological constant Λ and justify the argument in the light of consequences of Dirac's Large Number hypothesis(LNH).

Wormhole on the Brane with Ordinary Matter: The Broader View

In this paper we attempt to examine the possibility of construction of a traversable wormhole on the Randall-Sundrum braneworld with ordinary matter employing the Kuchowicz potential as one of the metric potentials. In this scenario, the wormhole shape function is obtained and studied, along with validity of Null Energy Condition (NEC) and the junction conditions at the surface of the wormhole are used to obtain a few of the model parameters. The investigation, besides giving an estimate for the bulk equation of state parameter, draws important constraints on the brane tension which is a novel attempt in this aspect and very interestingly the constraints imposed by a physically plausible traversable wormhole is in high confirmity with those drawn from more general space-times or space-time independent situations involved in fundamental physics. Also, we go on to claim that the possible existence of a wormhole may very well indicate that we live on a three-brane universe.

Anisotropic strange star with Tolman-Kuchowicz metric under $f(R,T)$ gravity

In the current article, we study anisotropic spherically symmetric strange star under the background of $f(R,T)$ gravity using the metric potentials of Tolman-Kuchowicz type~\cite{Tolman1939,Kuchowicz1968} as $λ(r)=\ln(1+ar^2+br^4)$ and $ν(r)=Br^2+2\ln C$ which are free from singularity, satisfy stability criteria and also well behaved. We calculate the value of constants $a$, $b$, $B$ and $C$ using matching conditions and the observed values of the masses and radii of known samples. To describe the strange quark matter (SQM) distribution, here we have used the phenomenological MIT bag model equation of state (EOS) where the density profile ($ρ$) is related to the radial pressure ($p_r$) as $p_r(r)=\frac{1}{3}(ρ-4B_g)$. Here quark pressure is responsible for generation of bag constant $B_g$. Motivation behind this study lies in finding out a non-singular physically acceptable solution having various properties of strange stars. The model shows consistency with various energy conditions, TOV equation, Herrera's cracking condition and also with Harrison-Zel$'$dovich-Novikov's static stability criteria. Numerical values of EOS parameter and the adiabatic index also enhance the acceptability of our model.

Charged strange stellar model with Tolman $V$ metric potential in the Einstein-Maxwell space-time

This paper deals with the existence of a compact stellar object, precisely strange (quark) star, in the framework of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity with Tolman $V$ metric potential, which is one of the simplest forms of potential among his proposals. The potential is given by $e^ν=Kr^{2n}$, where $K$ is the constant and $n$ is a parameter [R.C. Tolman, Phys. Rev. {\bf55}, 364 (1939)]. Considering charged, static, spherically symmetric, isotropic fluid sphere we have studied different physical features of some strange star candidates namely $EXO\ 1785-248$, $LMC\ X-4$, $SMC\ X-1$, $SAX\ J1808.4-3658$, $4U\ 1538-52$ and $Her\ X-1$. To represent the strange quark matter (SQM) distribution we have employed the simplest form of MIT bag equation of state (EOS), which provides a linear relationship between pressure and density of the matter through Bag constant $B$. We have done several tests for the stability criteria and the physical acceptability of the proposed model. The results show consistency with energy condition, TOV equation, adiabatic index, etc. We have calculated different physical parameters of our model for the three different consecutive values of Bag constant $B$ which are $83\ MeV/fm^3$, $90\ MeV/fm^3$ and $100\ MeV/fm^3$. Among them with $B=90\ MeV/fm^3$ we have analyzed different properties of the proposed strange star candidates.

Gravastar under the framework of Braneworld Gravity

Gravastars have been considered as a serious alternative to black holes in the past couple of decades. Stable models of gravastar have been constructed in many of the alternate gravity models besides standard General Relativity (GR). The Randall-Sundrum (RS) braneworld model has been a popular alternative to GR, specially in the cosmological and astrophysical context. Here we consider a gravastar model in RS brane gravity. The mathematical solutions in different regions have been obtained along with calculation of matching conditions. Various important physical parameters for the shell have been calculated and plotted to see their variation with radial distance. We also calculate and plot the surface redshift to check the stability of the gravastar within the purview of RS brane gravity.

Gravastars in $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity

We propose a stellar model under the $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity following Mazur-Mottola's conjecture [Mazur (2001), Mazur (2004)] known as gravastar which is generally believed as a viable alternative to black hole. The gravastar consists of three regions, viz., (I) Interior region, (II) Intermediate shell region, and (III) Exterior region. The pressure within the interior core region is assumed to be equal to the constant negative matter-energy density which provides a constant repulsive force over the thin shell region. The shell is assumed to be made up of fluid of ultrarelativistic plasma and following the Zel'dovich's conjecture of stiff fluid [Zeldovich (1972)] it is also assumed that the pressure which is directly proportional to the matter-energy density according to Zel'dovich's conjecture, does cancel the repulsive force exerted by the interior region. The exterior region is completely vacuum and it can be described by the Schwarzschild solution. Under all these specifications we find out a set of exact and singularity-free solutions of the gravastar presenting several physically valid features within the framework of alternative gravity, namely $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity [Harko (2014)], where the part of the gravitational Lagrangian in the corresponding action is taken as an arbitrary function of torsion scalar $\mathbb{T}$ and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $\mathcal{T}$.

Plane symmetric cosmological models

In the present work, we execute the Lie symmetry analysis on the Einstein-Maxwell field equations in the plane symmetric spacetime. Under the background of the plane symmetric space-time we compute the Lie point symmetries, perform the similarity reductions and obtain exact solutions in connection to the evolutionary scenario of the universe. The special feature of the study is that it deals with the electromagnetic energy of the inhomogeneous universe through the non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor $F_{12}$ and assumes that the free gravitational field is of Petrov type-II non-degenerate. We have found that the electromagnetic field tensor is positive and increasing function of time. To validate the solution set, we examine with detailed discussions several physical as well as geometrical features of a specific sub-case of the model.

Study of gravastars under $f(\mathbb{T})$ gravity

In the present paper we propose a stellar model under the $f(\mathbb{T})$ gravity following the conjecture of Mazur-Mottola~[Report number: LA-UR-01-5067 (2001); Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 101 (2004) 9545] known in literature as {\it gravastar}, a viable alternative to the black hole. This gravastar has three different regions, viz., (A) Interior core region, (B) Intermediate thin shell, and (C) Exterior spherical region. It is assumed that in the interior region the fluid pressure is equal to a negative matter-energy density providing a constant repulsive force over the spherical thin shell. This shell at the intermediate region is assumed to be formed by a fluid of ultrarelativistic plasma and the pressure, which is directly proportional to the matter-energy density according to Zeldovich's conjecture of stiff fluid~[Zeldovich, Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 160 (1972) 1], does nullify the repulsive force exerted by the interior core region for a stable configuration. On the other hand, the exterior spherical region can be described by the exterior Schwarzschild-de Sitter solution. With all these specifications we have found out a set of exact and singularity-free solutions of the gravastar which presents several physically interesting as well as valid features within the framework of alternative gravity.

Anisotropic strange star in Finsler geometry

In the present paper, we report on a study of the anisotropic strange stars under Finsler geometry. Keeping in mind that Finsler spacetime is not merely a generalization of Riemannian geometry rather the main idea is the projectivized tangent bundle of the manifold $\mathpzc{M}$, we have developed the respective field equations. Thereafter, we consider the strange quark distribution inside the stellar system followed by the MIT bag model equation of state (EOS). To find out the stability and also the physical acceptability of the stellar configuration, we perform in detail some basic physical tests of the proposed model. The results of the testing show that the system is consistent with the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation, Herrera cracking concept, different energy conditions and adiabatic index. One important result that we observe is that the anisotropic stress reaches to the maximum at the surface of the stellar configuration. We calculate (i) the maximum mass as well as corresponding radius, (ii) the central density of the strange stars for finite values of bag constant $B_g$ and (iii) the fractional binding energy of the system. This study shows that Finsler geometry is especially suitable to explain massive stellar systems.

$C$-field cosmological models: revisited

We investigate plane symmetric space-time filled with perfect fluid in the $C$-field cosmology of Hoyle and Narlikar. A new class of exact solutions have been obtained by considering the creation field $C$ as a function of time only. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the rate of creation of matter-energy density is proportional to the strength of the existing $C$-field energy density. Several physical aspects and geometrical properties of the models are discussed in detail, especially it is shown that some of our solutions of $C$-field cosmology are free from singularity in contrast to the Big Bang cosmology. A comparative study has been carried out between two models, one singular and the other nonsingular, by contrasting the behaviour of the physical parameters and noted that the model in a unique way represents both the features of the accelerating as well as decelerating Universe depending on the parameters and thus seems provides glimpses of the oscillating or cyclic model of the Universe without invoking any other agent or theory in allowing cyclicity.

A new model for spherically symmetric anisotropic compact star

In this article we obtain a new anisotropic solution for Einstein's field equation of embedding class one metric. The solution is representing the realistic objects such as $Her~X-1$ and $RXJ~1856-37$. We perform detailed investigation of both objects by solving numerically the Einstein field equations under with anisotropic pressure. The physical features of the parameters depend on the anisotropic factor i.e. if anisotropy is zero everywhere inside the star then the density and pressures will become zero and metric turns out to be flat. We report our results and compare with the above mentioned two compact objects on a number of key aspects: the central density, the surface density onset and the critical scaling behavior, the effective mass and radius ratio, the anisotropization with isotropic initial conditions, adiabatic index and red shift. Along with this we have also made a comparison between the classical limit and theoretical model treatment of the compact objects. Finally we discuss the implications of our findings for the stability condition in relativistic compact star.

Charged Perfect Fluid Sphere in Higher Dimensional Spacetime

Present paper provides a new model for perfect fluid sphere filled with charge in higher dimensional spacetime admitting conformal symmetry. We consider a linear equation of state with coefficients fixed by the matching conditions at the boundary of the source corresponding to the exterior Reissner-Nordström higher dimensional spacetime. Several physical features for different dimensions, starting from four up to eleven, are briefly discussed. It is shown that all the features as obtained from the present model are physically desirable and valid as far as the observed data set for the compact star $SAX~J1808.4-3658~(SS2)$ is concerned.

Compact stars in $f(R,T)$ gravity

In the present paper we generate a set of solutions describing the interior of a compact star under $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity which admits conformal motion. We consider the equation of state (EOS) $p=ωρ$ with $0<ω<1$ for the fluid distribution consisting normal matter, $ω$ being the EOS parameter. We therefore explore several aspects of the model analytically along with graphical representations to check the physical validity as well as acceptability of it within specified observational constraint in connection to a dozen of the compact star candidates. It is shown from the presented model that these objects are nothing but radiating compact stars.

Could wormholes form in dark matter galactic halos?

We estimate expression for velocity as a function of the radial coordinate $r$ by using polynomial interpolation based on the experimental data of rotational velocities at distant outer regions of galaxies. The interpolation technique has been used to estimate fifth degree polynomial followed by cubic spline interpolation. This rotational velocity is used to find the geometry of galactic halo regions within the framework of Einstein's general relativity. In this letter we have analyzed features of galactic halo regions based on two possible choices for the dark matter density profile, viz. Navarro, Frenk \& White (NFW) type~\citep{Navarro1996} and Universal Rotation Curve (URC) ~\citep{Castignani2012}. It is argued that spacetime of the galactic halo possesses some of the characteristics needed to support traversable wormholes.

FLRW viscous cosmological models

In this paper we solve Friedmann equations by considering a universal media as a non-perfect fluid with bulk viscosity and is described by a general "gamma law" equation of state of the form $p= (γ-1) ρ+ Λ(t)$, where the adiabatic parameter $γ$ varies with scale factor $R$ of the metric and $Λ$ is the time dependent cosmological constant. A unified description of the early evolution of the universe is presented by assuming the bulk viscosity and cosmological parameter in a linear combination of two terms of the form: $Λ(t)=Λ_{0} + Λ_{1}\frac{\dot{R}}{R}$ and $ζ= ζ_{0} + ζ_{1} \frac{\dot{R}}{R}$, where $Λ_{0},\;Λ_{1},\, ζ_{0}$ and $ ζ_{1}$ are constants, in which an inflationary phase is followed by the radiation dominated phase. For this general gamma law equation of state, an entirely integrable dynamical equation to the scale factor $R$ is obtained along with its exact solutions. In this framework we demonstrate that the model can be used to explain the dark energy dominant universe and for a special choice of the parameters we can explain the accelerating expansion of the universe also for two different phases, viz. combination of dark energy and dark matter phase as well as unified dark energy phase. A special physical check has been performed through sound speed constraint to validate the model. At last we obtain a scaling relation between the Hubble parameter with redshift.

Kantowski-Sachs Universe in the Varying Speed of Light Theory

In this work we consider the Kantowski-Sachs (KS) universe in the framework of varying speed of light theory. We present the general solutions of the gravitational field equations with variable speed of light $c(t)$, gravitational coupling parameter $G(t)$ and the decaying vacuum energy $Λ(t)$ for the KS model. In the limiting case for the equation of state (EOS) parameter $γ=2$ (stiff fluid with $p=ρc^2$) and $γ=1$ (dust with $p=0$), exact solutions of the field equations are obtained. The numerical solutions are also presented for both the cases. Moreover, it is shown that in the limiting case of large time, the mean anisotropy parameter tends to zero for $γ=2$ and $γ=1$. Thus the time variation of the fundamental constants provides an effective mechanism for the isotropization of the KS universe.

We present models of wormhole under the Finslerian structure of spacetime. This is a sequel of our previous work (Eur Phys J 75:564, 2015) where we constructed a toy model for compact stars based on the Finslerian spacetime geometry. In the present investigation, a wide variety of solutions are obtained that explore wormhole geometry by considering different choices for the form function and energy density. The solutions, like the previous work, are revealed to be physically interesting and viable models for the explanation of wormholes as far as the background theory and literature are concerned.

We study a dynamic $Λ$ model with varying gravitational constant $G$ under the Kaluza-Klein cosmology. Physical features and the limitations of the present model have been explored and discussed. Solutions are found mostly in accordance with the observed features of the accelerating universe. Interestingly, signature flipping of the deceleration parameter is noticed and the present age of the Universe is also attainable under certain stringent conditions. We find that the time variation of gravitational constant is not permitted without vintage $Λ$.

Anisotropic models for compact stars

In the present paper we obtain an anisotropic analogue of Durgapal-Fuloria (1985) perfect fluid solution. The methodology consists of contraction of anisotropic factor $Δ$ by the help of both metric potentials $e^ν$ and $e^λ$. Here we consider $e^λ$ same as Durgapal-Fuloria (1985) whereas $e^ν$ is that given by Lake (2003). The field equations are solved by the change of dependent variable method. The solutions set mathematically thus obtained are compared with the physical properties of some of the compact stars, strange star as well as white dwarf. It is observed that all the expected physical features are available related to stellar fluid distribution which clearly indicate validity of the model.

Anisotropic stars with non-static conformal symmetry

We have proposed a model for relativistic compact star with anisotropy and analytically obtained exact spherically symmetric solutions describing the interior of the dense star admitting non-static conformal symmetry. Several features of the solutions including drawbacks of the model have been explored and discussed. For this purpose we have provided the energy conditions, TOV-equations and other physical requirements and thus thoroughly investigated stability, mass-radius relation and surface redshift of the model. It is observed that most of the features are well matched with the compact stars, like quark/strange stars.

Fluid sphere: stability problem and dimensional constraint

We study different dimensional fluids inspired by noncommutative geometry which admit conformal Killing vectors. The solutions of the Einstein field equations examined specifically for five different set of spacetime. We calculate the active gravitational mass and impose stability conditions of the fluid sphere. The analysis thus carried out immediately indicates that at $4$-dimension only one can get a stable configuration for any spherically symmetric stellar system and any other dimensions, lower or higher, becomes untenable as far as the stability of a system is concerned.

Possibility of higher dimensional anisotropic compact star

We have provided here a new class of interior solutions for anisotropic stars admitting conformal motion in higher dimensional noncommutative spacetime. The Einstein fields equations are solved by choosing a particular density distribution function of Lorentzian type \cite{Nozari} under noncommutative geometry. Several cases with dimensions $4D$ and higher, e.g. $5D$, $6D$ and $11D$ have been discussed separately. An overall observation is that the model parameters, such as density, radial pressure, transverse pressure, anisotropy all are well behaved and represent a compact star with radius $4.17$ km. However, emphasis has been given on the acceptability of the model from physical point of view. As a consequence it is observed that higher dimensions, i.e. beyond $4D$ spacetime, exhibit several interesting yet bizarre features which are not at all untenable for a compact stellar model of strange quark type and thus dictates a possibility of its extra dimensional existence.

Possible existence of wormholes in the central regions of halos

An earlier study [Rahaman et al. This paper uses the Universal Rotation Curve (URC) dark matter model to obtain analogous results for the central parts of the halo. This result is an important compliment to the earlier result, thereby confirming the possible existence of wormholes in most of the spiral galaxies.

Relativistic electromagnetic mass models in spherically symmetric spacetime

Under the static spherically symmetric Einstein-Maxwell spacetime of embedding class one we explore possibility of electromagnetic mass model where mass and other physical parameters have purely electromagnetic origin (Tiwari 1984, Gautreau 1985, Gron 1985). This work is in continuation of our earlier investigation (Maurya 2015a) where we developed an algorithm and found out three new solutions of electromagnetic mass models. In the present letter we consider different metric potentials $ν$ and $λ$ and analyzed them in a systematic way. It is observed that some of the previous solutions related to electromagnetic mass models are nothing but special cases of the presently obtained generalized solution set. We further verify the solution set and show that these are extremely applicable in the case of compact stars as well as for understanding structure of the electron.

Spherically symmetric electromagnetic mass models of embedding class one

In this article we consider the static spherically symmetric spacetime metric of embedding class one. Specifically three new electromagnetic mass models are derived where the solutions are entirely dependent on the electromagnetic field, such that the physical parameters, like density, pressure etc. do vanish for the vanishing charge. We have analyzed schematically all these three sets of solutions related to electromagnetic mass models by plotting graphs and shown that they can pass through all the physical tests performed by us. To validate these special type of solutions related to electromagnetic mass models a comparison has been done with that of compact stars and shown exclusively the feasibility of the models.

Wormhole inspired by non-commutative geometry

In the present work we search for a new wormhole solution inspired by noncommutative geometry with the additional condition of allowing conformal Killing vectors (CKV). A special aspect of noncommutative geometry is that it replaces point-like structures of gravitational sources with smeared objects under Gaussian distribution. However, the purpose of this paper is to obtain wormhole solutions with noncommutative geometry as a background where we consider a point-like structure of gravitational object without smearing effect. It is found through this investigation that wormhole solutions exist in this Lorentzian distribution with viable physical properties.

Possible features of galactic halo with electric field and observational constraints

Observed rotational curves of neutral hydrogen clouds strongly support the fact that galactic halo contains huge amount of nonluminous matter, the so called gravitational dark matter. The nature of dark matter is a point of debate among the researchers. Recent observations reported the presence of ions of O, S, C, Si etc in the galactic halo and intergalactic medium. This supports the possibility of existence of electric field in the galactic halo region. We therefore propose a model of galactic halo considering this electric field arising due to charged particles as one of the inputs for the background spacetime metric. Considering dark matter as an anisotropic fluid we obtain the expressions for energy density and pressure of dark matter there and consequently the equation of state of dark matter. Various other aspects of the solutions are also analyzed along with a critical comparison with and constraints of different observational evidences.

Static Charged Fluid in (2+1)-Dimensions Admitting Conformal Killing Vectors

New solutions for $(2+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell space-time are found for a static spherically symmetric charged fluid distribution with the additional condition of allowing conformal killing vectors (CKV). We discuss physical properties of the fluid parameters. Moreover, it is shown that the model actually represents two structures, namely (i) Gravastar as an alternative of black hole and (ii) Electromagnetic Mass model depending on the nature of the equation state of the fluid. Here the gravitational mass originates from electromagnetic field alone. The solutions are matched with the exterior region of the Ba$\tilde{n}$ados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) type isotropic static charged black hole as a consequence of junction conditions. We have shown that the central charge density is dependent on the value of $M_0$, the conserved mass of the BTZ black hole. This in turn depends on the black hole event horizon which again is related to the Hawking radiation temperature of a BTZ black hole. Thus one may have a clue that the central charge density is related with Hawking radiation temperature of the BTZ black hole on the exterior region of the static charged fluid sphere.

A new model of gravastar is obtained in $D$-dimensional Einstein gravity. This class of solutions includes the gravastar as an alternative to D-dimensional versions of the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black hole. The configuration of this new gravastar consists of three different regions with different equations of state: [I] Interior: 0 \leq r < r_1, ρ= -p; [II] Shell: r_1 \leq r < r_2, ρ= p; [III] Exterior: r_2 < r, ρ= p =0. The outer region of this gravastar corresponds to a higher dimensional Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black hole.

BTZ black holes inspired by noncommutative geometry

In this paper a Banados, Teitelboim and Zanelli (BTZ) black hole is constructed from an exact solution of the Einstein field equations in a (2+1)-dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime in the context of noncommutative geometry. The BTZ black hole turns out to have two horizons, no horizon or a single horizon corresponding to a minimal mass. Certain thermodynamical properties are investigated, including Hawking temperature, entropy and heat capacity. Also discussed is the geodesic structure of BTZ black holes for both massless and massive particles. In particular, it is shown that bound orbits for test particles are possible.

Noncommutative geometry inspired wormholes with conformal motion

This paper discusses a new wormhole solution that admits conformal motion, given a noncommutative-geometry background. After a discussion of the wormhole geometry and the energy conditions, the analysis proceeds with the calculation of the active gravitational mass, a discussion of the TOV equation describing the equilibrium conditions, as well as the nature of the total gravitational energy. The wormhole spacetime is not asymptotically flat and is therefore cut off at some radial distance and joined to an exterior vacuum solution.

Oscillatory Universe, dark energy and general relativity

The concept of oscillatory Universe appears to be realistic and buried in the dynamic dark energy equation of state. We explore its evolutionary history under the frame work of general relativity. We observe that oscillations do not go unnoticed with such an equation of state and that their effects persist later on in cosmic evolution. The `classical' general relativity seems to retain the past history of oscillatory Universe in the form of increasing scale factor as the classical thermodynamics retains this history in the form of increasing cosmological entropy.

Scenario of Accelerating Universe from the Phenomenological Λ- Models

Dark matter, the major component of the matter content of the Universe, played a significant role at early stages during structure formation. But at present the Universe is dark energy dominated as well as accelerating. Here, the presence of dark energy has been established by including a time-dependent $Λ$ term in the Einstein's field equations. This model is compatible with the idea of an accelerating Universe so far as the value of the deceleration parameter is concerned. Possibility of a change in sign of the deceleration parameter is also discussed. The impact of considering the speed of light as variable in the field equations has also been investigated by using a well known time-dependent $Λ$ model.

Wormholes supported by two non-interacting fluids

We provide a new matter source that supplies fuel to construct wormhole spacetime. The exact wormhole solutions are found in the model having, besides real matter, an anisotropic dark energy. We have shown that the exotic matters that are the necessary ingredients for wormhole physics violate null and weak energy conditions but obey strong energy condition marginally. Though the wormhole comprises of exotic matters yet the effective mass remains positive. We have calculated the effective mass of the wormhole up to 8 km from the throat (assuming throat radius as 4 km) as $1.3559M_\odot $. Some physical features are briefly discussed.

Anisotropic Compact stars with variable cosmological constant

Recently the small value of the cosmological constant and its ability to accelerate the expansion of the Universe is of great interest. We discuss the possibility of forming of anisotropic compact stars from this cosmological constant as one of the competent candidates of dark energy. For this purpose we consider the analytical solution of Krori and Barua metric. We take the radial dependence of cosmological constant and check all the regularity conditions, TOV equations, stability and surface redshift of the compact stars. It has been shown as conclusion that this model is valid for any compact star and we have cited $4U 1820-30$ as a specific example of that kind of star.

Anisotropic strange star with de Sitter spacetime

Stars can be treated as self-gravitating fluid. Krori and Barua (1975) gave an analytical solutions to that kind of fluids. In this connection, we propose a de-Sitter model for an anisotropic strange star with the Krori-Barua spacetime. We incorporate the existence of cosmological constant in a small scale to study the structure of anisotropic strange stars and come to conclusion that this doping is very much compatible with the well known physical features of strange stars.

Galactic rotation curves inspired by a noncommutative-geometry background

This paper discusses the observed at rotation curves of galaxies in the context of noncommutative geometry. The energy density of such a geometry is diffused throughout a region due to the uncertainty encoded in the coordinate commutator. This intrinsic property appears to be sufficient for producing stable circular orbits, as well as attractive gravity, without the need for dark matter.

Magnetized dark energy and the late time acceleration

In the present work we have searched the existence of the late time acceleration of the Universe. The matter source that is responsible for the late time acceleration of the Universe consists of cosmic fluid with the equation of state parameter $ω=\frac{p}ρ$ and uniform magnetic field of energy density $ρ_{B}$. The study is done here under the framework of spatially homogeneous and anisotropic locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi-I cosmological model in the presence of magnetized dark energy. To get the deterministic model of the Universe, we assume that the shear scalar $(σ)$ in the model is proportional to expansion scalar $(θ)$. This condition leads to $A=B^{n}$, where $A$ and $B$ are metric functions and $n$ is a positive constant giving the proportionality condition between shear and expansion scalar. It has been found that the isotropic distribution of magnetized dark energy leads to the present accelerated expansion of the Universe and the derived model is in good agreement with the recent astrophysical observations. The physical behavior of the Universe has been discussed in details.

Quark matter as dark matter in modeling galactic halo

Considering the flat rotation curves as input and treating the matter content in the galactic halo region as quark matter, we have found out a background spacetime metric for the region of the galactic halo. We obtain fairly general conditions that ensure that gravity in the halo region is attractive. We also investigate the stability of circular orbits, along with a different role for quark matter. Bag-model quark matter meeting these conditions therefore provides a suitable model for dark matter.

Searching for higher dimensional wormholes with noncommutative geometry

Noncommutative geometry, an offshoot of string theory, replaces point-like structures with smeared objects and has recently been extended to higher dimensions. The purpose of this letter is to obtain wormhole solutions with this extended noncommutative geometry as a background. It is found through this investigation that wormhole solutions exist in the usual four, as well as in five dimensions, but they do not exist in higher-dimensional spacetimes.

Strange stars in Krori-Barua space-time

The singularity space-time metric obtained by Krori and Barua\cite{Krori1975} satisfies the physical requirements of a realistic star. Consequently, we explore the possibility of applying the Krori and Barua model to describe ultra-compact objects like strange stars. For it to become a viable model for strange stars, bounds on the model parameters have been obtained. Consequences of a mathematical description to model strange stars have been analyzed.

The (2+1)-dimensional charged gravastars

This is a continuation and generalization of our earlier work on {\it gravastar} in (2+1) anti-de Sitter space-time to 2+1 dimensional solution of charged gravastar. Morphologically this gravastar contains three regions namely: (i) charged interior, (ii) charged shell and (iii) electrovacuum exterior. We have studied different characteristics in terms of Length and Energy, Entropy, and Junction conditions of the spherical charged distribution. It is shown that the present model of charged gravastar is non-singular and represents itself an alternative of Black Hole.

The (2+1)-dimensional gravastars

We propose a new model of a gravastar in (2+1) anti-de Sitter space-time. This new three dimensional configuration has three different regions with different equations of state: [I] Interior: 0 \leq r < r_1, ρ= -p ; [II] Shell: r_1 \leq r < r_2, ρ= p; [III] Exterior: r_2 < r, ρ= p =0. The outer region of this gravastar corresponds to the exterior (2+1) anti-de Sitter space-time, popularly known as the BTZ space-time. Like BTZ model, Λis taken to be negative, which at the junction turns out to be positive as required by stability of gravastar and mathematical consistency. After investigating the Interior space-time, Shell and Exterior space-time we have highlighted different physical features in terms of Length and Energy, Entropy, and Junction conditions of the spherical distribution. It is shown that the present model of charge-free gravastar in connection to the exterior (2+1) anti-de Sitter space-time or the BTZ space-time is stable and non-singular.

A class of solutions for Einstein field equations with spatially varying cosmological constant in spherically symmetric anisotropic source

In this work a class of interior solution for Einstein field equations corresponding to a spherically symmetric anisotropic fluid sphere has been obtained under the assumption that the cosmological constant is spatially variable. The solution obtained has the characteristics that the pressure and the cosmological parameter vanish at the centre and at the boundary with a maximum value somewhere inside the body. It has been argued that a variable $ Λ$ is as much important physically in Astrophysics as in Cosmology.

Charged gravastars admitting conformal motion

We propose a new model of a {\it gravastar} admitting conformal motion. While retaining the framework of the Mazur-Mottola model, the gravastar is assumed to be internally charged, with an exterior defined by a Reissner-Nordstr{ö}m rather than a Schwarzschild line element. The solutions obtained involve (i) the interior region, (ii) the shell, and (iii) the exterior region of the sphere. Of these three cases the first case is of primary interest since the total gravitational mass vanishes for vanishing charge and turns the total gravitational mass into an {\it electromagnetic mass} under certain conditions. This suggests that the interior de Sitter vacuum of a charged gravastar is essentially an electromagnetic mass model that must generate the gravitational mass. We have also analyzed various other aspects such as the stress energy tensor in the thin shell and the entropy of the system.

Isotropic cases of static charged fluid spheres in general relativity

In this paper we study the isotropic cases of static charged fluid spheres in general relativity. For this purpose we consider two different specialization and under these we solve the Einstein-Maxwell field equations in isotropic coordinates. The analytical solutions thus we obtained are matched to the exterior Reissner-Nordström solutions which concern with the values for the metric coefficients $e^ν$ and $e^μ$. We derive the pressure, density, pressure-to-density ratio at the centre of the charged fluid sphere and boundary $R$ of the star. Our conclusion is that static charged fluid spheres provide a good connection to compact stars.

The source considered here is static, spherically symmetric and anisotropic charged fluid. The solutions obtained are matched continuously to the exterior Reissner-Nordström solution and each of the four solutions represents an electromagnetic mass model.

Charged anisotropic matter with linear or nonlinear equation of state

Ivanov pointed out substantial analytical difficulties associated with self-gravitating, static, isotropic fluid spheres when pressure explicitly depends on matter density. Simplification achieved with the introduction of electric charge were noticed as well. We deal with self-gravitating, charged, anisotropic fluids and get even more flexibility in solving the Einstein-Maxwell equations. In order to discuss analytical solutions we extend Krori and Barua's method to include pressure anisotropy and linear or non-linear equations of state. The field equations are reduced to a system of three algebraic equations for the anisotropic pressures as well as matter and electrostatic energy densities. Attention is paid to compact sources characterized by positive matter density and positive radial pressure. Arising solutions satisfy the energy conditions of general relativity. Spheres with vanishing net charge contain fluid elements with unbounded proper charge density located at the fluid-vacuum interface. Notably the electric force acting on these fluid elements is finite, although the acting electric field is zero. Net charges can be huge ($10^{19}\,C$) and maximum electric field intensities are very large ($10^{23}-10^{24}\,statvolt/cm$) even in the case of zero net charge. Inward-directed fluid forces caused by pressure anisotropy may allow equilibrium configurations with larger net charges and electric field intensities than those found in studies of charged isotropic fluids. Links of these results with charged strange quark stars as well as models of dark matter including massive charged particles are highlighted. The van der Waals equation of state leading to matter densities constrained by cubic polynomial equations is briefly considered. The fundamental question of stability is left open.

Dark energy models with variable equation of state parameter

The dark energy models with variable equation of state parameter $ω$ is investigated by using law of variation of Hubble's parameter that yields the constant value of deceleration parameter. The equation of state parameter $ω$ is found to be time dependent and its existing range for this model is consistent with the recent observations of SN Ia data, SN Ia data (with CMBR anisotropy) and galaxy clustering statistics. The physical significance of the dark energy models has also been discussed.

A Five dimensional Kaluza-Klein space-time is considered in the presence of a perfect fluid source with variable G and $Λ$. An expanding universe is found by using a relation between the metric potential and an equation of state. The gravitational constant is found to decrease with time as $G \sim t^{-(1-ω)}$ whereas the variation for the cosmological constant follows as $Λ\sim t^{-2}$, $Λ\sim (\dot R/R)^2$ and $Λ\sim \ddot R/R$ where $ω$ is the equation of state parameter and $R$ is the scale factor.

In the present investigation some key issues of modern cosmology, viz. the age problem, the amount of variation of $G$ and the nature of expansion of the Universe have been addressed.

Phenomenology of $Λ$-CDM model: a possibility of accelerating Universe with positive pressure

Among various phenomenological $Λ$ models, a time-dependent model $\dot Λ\sim H^3$ is selected here to investigate the $Λ$-CDM cosmology. Using this model the expressions for the time-dependent equation of state parameter $ω$ and other physical parameters are derived. It has also been possible to obtain the change of sign of the deceleration parameter $q$ during cosmic evolution.

Time variable $Λ$ and the accelerating Universe

We perform a deductive study of accelerating Universe and focus on the importance of variable time-dependent $Λ$ in the Einstein's field equations under the phenomenological assumption, $Λ=αH^2$ for the full physical range of $α$. The relevance of variable $Λ$ with regard to various key issues like dark matter, dark energy, geometry of the field, age of the Universe, deceleration parameter and barotropic equation of state has been trivially addressed. The deceleration parameter and the barotropic equation of state parameter obey a straight line relationship for a flat Universe described by Friedmann and Raychaudhuri equations. Both the parameters are found identical for $α= 1$.

Variable Equation of State for Generalized Dark Energy Model

We present a model for the present accelerating Universe and focus on the different important physical variables involved in the model under the phenomenological assumption $Λ\propto H^2$ with a prescription for equation of state parameter in the form $ω(t)=ω_0+\frac{ω_1τ}{t^2}$, where $ω_0$ and $ω_1$ are two constants and $τ$ is a parameter having dimension of time $t^2$. General expressions for the density parameter $Ω$ and deceleration parameter $q$ are obtained which under specific bound reproduce some of the previous results. We explore physical features of these parameters which (i) provide the scenario of complete evolution of the cosmos with $ω(t)$ and (ii) agree mostly with the observational status of the present phase of the accelerating Universe.

The Dynamic Cosmological Term $Λ$: Some Aspects of Phenomenological Models

Choosing a phenomenological model of $Λ$, viz. $Λ\sim \dot H$, it has been shown that this model of $Λ$ is equivalent to other three types of $Λ$, $Λ\sim (\dot a/a)^2$, $Λ\sim \ddot a/a$ and $Λ\sim ρ$.
