Singular Soliton Operators and Indefinite Metrics

The singular real second order 1D Schrodinger operators are considered here with such potentials that all local solutions near singularities to the eigenvalue problem are meromorphic for all values of the spectral parameter. All algebro-geometrical or "singular finite-gap" potentials satisfy to this condition. A Spectral Theory is constructed here for the periodic and rapidly decreasing cases in the special classes of functions with singularities and indefinite inner product. It has a finite number of negative squares if the unimodular Bloch multipliers are fixed in the periodic case, and in the rapidly decreasing case. The time dynamics provided by the KdV hierarchy preserves this number. The right analog of Fourier Transform for the Riemann Surfaces preserving remarkable multiplicative properties of the ordinary (i.e. genus zero) Fourier Transform based on the standard exponential basis, leads to such operators as it was shown in our previous works.

Discrete SL2 Connections and Self-Adjoint Difference Operators on the Triangulated 2-manifold

Discretization Program of the famous Completely Integrable Systems and associated Linear Operators was developed in 1990s. In particular, specific properties of the second order difference operators on the triangulated manifolds and equilateral triangle lattices were studied in the works of S.Novikov and I.Dynnikov since 1996. They involve factorization of operators, the so-called Laplace Transformations, new discretization of Complex Analysis and new discretization of $GL_n$ connections on the triangulated $n$-manifolds. The general theory of the new type discrete $GL_n$ connections was developed. However, the special case of $SL_n$-connections (and unimodular $SL_n^{\pm}$ connections such that $\det A=\pm 1$) was not selected properly. As we prove in this work, it plays fundamental role (similar to magnetic field in the continuous case) in the theory of self-adjoint discrete Schrodinger operators for the equilateral triangle lattice in $\RR^2$. In Appendix~1 we present a complete characterization of rank 1 unimodular $SL_n^{\pm}$ connections. Therefore we correct a mistake made in the previous versions of our paper (we wrongly claimed that for $n>2$ every unimodular $SL_n^{\pm}$ Connection is equivalent to the standard Canonical Connection). Using communications of Korepanov we completely clarify connection of classical theory of electric chains and star-triangle with discrete Laplace transformation on the triangle lattices

Dynamical Systems, Topology and Conductivity in Normal Metals in strong magnetic fields

We represent here the full description of all asymptotic regimes of conductivity behavior in the so-called "Geometric Strong Magnetic Field limit" in the 3D single crystal normal metals with topologically complicated Fermi surfaces. In particular, new observable integer-valued characteristics of conductivity of the topological origin were introduced by the present authors few years ago; they are based on the Topological Resonance found by the present authors and play the basic role in the total picture. Our investigation is based on the study of dynamical systems on Fermi surfaces for the semi-classical motion of electron in magnetic field realized by the Moscow topological group.

Topological Phenomena in the Real Periodic Sine-Gordon Theory

The set of real finite-gap Sine-Gordon solutions corresponding to a fixed spectral curve consists of several connected components. A simple explicit description of these components obtained by the authors recently is used to study the consequences of this property. In particular this description allows to calculate the topological charge of solutions (the averaging of the $x$-derivative of the potential) and to show that the averaging of other standard conservation laws is the same for all components.

Nonselfintersecting magnetic orbits on the plane. Proof of Principle of the Overthrowing of the Cycles.

Beginning from 1981 one of the present authors (S.Novikov) published a series of papers, (some of them in collaboration with I.Schmelzer and I.Taimanov) dedicated to the development of the analog of Morse theory for the closed 1-forms -- multivalued functions and functionals -- on the finite - and infinite-dimensional manifolds ({\bf Morse-Novikov Theory}). The notion of ``Multivalued action'' was understood and ``Topological quantization of the coupling constant'' for them was formulated by Novikov in 1981 as a Corollary from the requirement, that the Feinmann Amplitude should be one-valued on the space of fields-maps. Very beautiful analog of this theory appeared also in the late 80-ies in the Symplectic Geometry and Topology, when the so-called Floer Homology Theory was discovered. A very first topological idea of this theory, formulated in early 80-ies, was the so-called ``Principle of the Overthrowing of the Cycles''. It led to the results which were not proved rigorously until now. Our goal is to prove some of them. We study the motion of a classical charged particle on the Euclidean plane in a magnetic field orthogonal to this field. The trajectories of this motion can be characterized as extremals of the ``Maupertui--Fermat'' functional. We show that for any smooth everyvhere positive double periodic magnetic field for any fixed energy there exist at least two different periodic convex extremals, such that the value of the Maupertui-Fermat functional is positive for them. If all such extremals are nondegenerate in the sense of Morse in the space of nonparameterized curves then for any energy there exist at least 4 periodic convex extremals with the Morse indices (1,2,2,3).
