Notes on Dynamics of an External Cavity Semiconductor Lasers

Dynamics of external cavity semiconductor lasers is known to be a complex and uncontrollable phenomenon. Due to the lack of experimental studies on the nature of the external cavity semiconductor lasers, there is a need to theoretically clarify laser dynamics. The stability of laser dynamics in the present paper, is analyzed through plotting the Lyapunov exponent spectra, bifurcation diagrams, phase portrait and electric field intensity time series. The analysis is preformed with respect to applied feedback phase $C_p$, feedback strength $η$ and the pump current of the laser. The main argument of the paper is to show that the laser dynamics can not be accounted for through simply a bifurcation diagram and single-control parameter. The comparison of the obtained results provides a very detailed picture of the qualitative changes in laser dynamics.

Chaotic Cryptographic Scheme Based on Composition Maps

In recent years, a growing number of cryptosystems based on chaos have been proposed. But most of them encountered many problems such as small key space and weak security. In the present paper, a new kind of chaotic cryptosystem based on Composition of Trigonometric Chaotic Maps is proposed. These maps which are defined as ratios of polynomials of degree N, have interesting properties such as invariant measure, ergodicity, variable chaotic region with respect to the control parameters and ability to construct composition form of maps. We have used a composition of chaotic map to shuffle the position of image pixels. Another composition of chaotic map is used in diffusion process. According to the performed analysis, the introduced algorithm can satisfy the required performances such as high level security, large key space and the acceptable encryption speed.

Generic N-coupled maps in Bose-Mesner algebra perspective

By choosing a dynamical system with d different couplings, one can rearrange a system based on the graph with given vertex dependent on the dynamical system elements. The relation between the dynamical elements (coupling) is replaced by a relation between the vertexes. Based on the E_0 transverse projection operator. We addressed synchronization problem of an array of the linearly coupled map lattices of identical discrete time systems. The synchronization rate is determined by the second largest eigenvalue of the transition probability matrix. Algebraic properties of the Bose-Mesner algebra with an associated scheme with definite spectrum has been used in order to study the stability of the coupled map lattice. Associated schemes play a key role and may lead to analytical methods in studying the stability of the dynamical systems. The relation between the coupling parameters and the chaotic region is presented. It is shown that the feasible region is analytically determined by the number of couplings (i.e, by increasing the number of coupled maps the feasible region is restricted). It is very easy to apply our criteria to the system being studied and they encompass a wide range of coupling schemes including most of the popularly used ones in the literature.
