One loop renormalization of 5D gauge-Yukawa theories

The common lore dictates that extra dimensional theories loose predictive power at energies just above the compatification scale, due to the power-law running of bulk coupling. We show that five-dimensional gauge-Yukawa theories can be valid up to arbitrarily high scales, provided: 1) A finite number of terms are required to absorb power-law divergences; 2) All power-law running couplings flow to UV fixed points. By explicitly computing bulk and localized divergences for a gauge-Yukawa theory on $\mathcal{S}^1/\mathbb{Z}_2$, we prove the one-loop renormalization properties of Lagrangians containing only interactions that would be renormalizable in four dimensions. The existence of UV fixed points imposes further constraints on the content of the model. Our results provide a consistency check for the high-energy behavior of any 5D theory, and provide a discrimination between UV consistent models and those that can describe only a handful of Kaluza-Klein modes. Hence, we offer the first concrete step towards an all-order proof of `renormalizability' for gauge-Yukawa theories in five dimensions.

Cosmology from Strong Interactions

The wealth of theoretical and phenomenological information about Quantum Chromodynamics at short and long distances collected so far in major collider measurements has profound implications in cosmology. We provide a brief discussion on the major implications of the strongly coupled dynamics of quarks and gluons as well as on effects due to their collective motion on the physics of the early universe and in astrophysics.

Generating gravitational waveform libraries of exotic compact binaries with deep learning

Current gravitational wave (GW) detections rely on the existence of libraries of theoretical waveforms. Consequently, finding new physics with GWs requires libraries of non-standard models, which are computationally demanding. We discuss how deep learning frameworks can be used to generate new waveforms "learned" from a simulation dataset obtained, say, from numerical relativity simulations. Concretely, we use the WaveGAN architecture of a generative adversarial network (GAN). As a proof of concept we provide this neural network (NN) with a sample of ($>500$) waveforms from the collisions of exotic compact objects (Proca stars), obtained from numerical relativity simulations. Dividing the sample into a training and a validation set, we show that after a sufficiently large number of training epochs the NN can produce from 12\% to 25\% of the synthetic waveforms with an overlapping match of at least 95\% with the ones from the validation set. We also demonstrate that a NN can be used to predict the overlapping match score, with 90\% of accuracy, of new synthetic samples. These are encouraging results for using GANs for data augmentation and interpolation in the context of GWs, to cover the full parameter space of, say, exotic compact binaries, without the need of intensive numerical relativity simulations.

Grand Unified origin of gauge interactions and families replication in the Standard Model

Tremendous phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM) suggests that its flavor structure and gauge interactions may not be arbitrary but should have a fundamental first-principle explanation. In this work, we explore how the basic distinctive properties of the SM dynamically emerge from a unified New Physics framework tying together both flavour physics and Grand Unified Theory (GUT) concepts. This framework is suggested by a novel anomaly-free supersymmetric chiral $\mathrm{E}_6 \times \mathrm{SU}_F(2) \times \mathrm{U}_F(1)$ GUT containing the SM. Among the most appealing emergent properties of this theory is the Higgs-matter unification with a highly-constrained massless chiral sector featuring two universal Yukawa couplings close to the GUT scale. At the electroweak scale, the minimal SM-like effective field theory limit of this GUT represents a specific flavored three-Higgs doublet model consistent with the observed large hierarchies in the quark mass spectra and mixing already at tree level.

Gravitational-Wave Signatures of Chiral-Symmetric Technicolor

A chiral-symmetric technicolor model successfully reconciles the tension between electroweak precision tests and traditional technicolor models. Focusing on its simplest realization preserving the conventional Higgs mechanism, we study its primordial gravitational wave signatures originating from first order phase transitions in the early Universe. We found that abundant phase transition patterns arise from a physically viable parameter space. Besides, we have also found gravitational wave signals possibly visible by future experiments, such as LISA, BBO and u-DECIGO. Our results stress the importance of gravitational wave detectors in exploring new physics complementary to ground colliders in the multi-messenger astronomy era.

Impact of SM parameters and of the vacua of the Higgs potential in gravitational waves detection

In this work we discuss two different phases of a complex singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM) together with an extension that also includes new fermion fields, in particular, a Majoron model equipped with an inverse seesaw mechanism. All considered scenarios contain a global $\mathrm{U}(1)$ symmetry and allow for first-order phase transitions while only two of them are strong enough to favour the detection of primordial gravitational waves (GWs) in planned experiments such as LISA. In particular, this is shown to be possible in the singlet extension with a non vanishing real VEV at zero temperature and also in the model with extra fermions. In the singlet extension with no additional fermions, the detection of GWs strongly depends on the $\mathrm{U}(1)$ symmetry breaking pattern of the scalar potential at zero temperature. We study for the first time the impact of the precision in the determination of the SM parameters on the strength of the GWs spectrum. It turns out that the variation of the SM parameters such as the Higgs boson mass and top quark Yukawa coupling in their allowed experimental ranges has a notable impact on GWs detectability prospects.

Prospects for New Physics from gauge Left-Right-Colour-Family Grand Unification hypothesis

Given the tremendous phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM) framework, it becomes increasingly important to understand to what extent its specific structure dynamically emerges from unification principles. In this study, we present a novel anomaly-free supersymmetric (SUSY) Grand Unification model based upon gauge trinification $[\mathrm{SU}(3)]^3$ symmetry and a local $\mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{F}} \times \mathrm{U}(1)_{\mathrm{F}}$ family symmetry, with particle spectra and gauge symmetries inspired by a possible reduction pattern $\mathrm{E}_8 \to \mathrm{E}_6\times \mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{F}} \times \mathrm{U}(1)_{\mathrm{F}}$, with subsequent $\mathrm{E}_6\to [\mathrm{SU}(3)]^3$ symmetry breaking step. In this framework, higher-dimensional operators of $\mathrm{E}_6$ induce the threshold corrections in the gauge and Yukawa interactions leading, in particular, to only two distinct Yukawa couplings in the fundamental sector of the resulting $[\mathrm{SU}(3)]^3\times \mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{F}} \times \mathrm{U}(1)_{\mathrm{F}}$ Lagrangian. Among the appealing features emergent in this framework are the Higgs-matter unification and a unique minimal three Higgs doublet scalar sector at the electroweak scale as well as tree-level hierarchies in the light fermion spectra consistent with those observed in nature. In addition, our framework reveals a variety of prospects for New Physics searches at the LHC and future colliders such as vector-like fermions, as well as rich scalar, gauge and neutrino sectors.

A three Higgs doublet model with symmetry-suppressed flavour changing neutral currents

We construct a three-Higgs doublet model with a flavour non-universal ${\rm U}(1)\times \mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. That symmetry induces suppressed flavour-changing interactions mediated by neutral scalars. New scalars with masses below the TeV scale can still successfully negotiate the constraints arising from flavour data. Such a model can thus encourage direct searches for extra Higgs bosons in the future collider experiments, and includes a non-trivial flavour structure.

Ultralight bosons for strong gravity applications from simple Standard Model extensions

We construct families, and concrete examples, of simple extensions of the Standard Model that can yield ultralight {real or} complex vectors or scalars with potential astrophysical relevance. Specifically, the mass range for these putative fundamental bosons ($\sim 10^{-10}-10^{-20}$ eV) would lead dynamically to both new non-black hole compact objects (bosonic stars) and new non-Kerr black holes, with masses of $\sim M_\odot$ to $\sim 10^{10} M_\odot$, corresponding to the mass range of astrophysical black hole candidates (from stellar mass to supermassive). For each model, we study the properties of the mass spectrum and interactions after spontaneous symmetry breaking, discuss its theoretical viability and caveats, as well as some of its potential and most relevant phenomenological implications {linking them to the} physics of compact objects.

$D$-wave effects in diffractive electroproduction of heavy quarkonia from the photon-like $V\rightarrow Q\bar Q$ transition

We analyze the validity of a commonly used identification between structures of the virtual photon $γ^*\to Q\bar Q$ and vector meson $V\to Q\bar Q$ transitions. In the existing studies of $S$-wave vector-meson photoproduction in the literature, such an identification is typically performed in the light-front (LF) frame while the radial component of the meson wave function is rather postulated than computed from the first principles. The massive photon-like $V\to Q\bar Q$ vertex, besides the $S$-wave component, also contains an extra $D$-wave admixture in the $Q\bar Q$ rest frame. However, the relative weight of these contributions cannot be justified by any reasonable nonrelativistic $Q\bar Q$ potential model. In this work, we investigate the relative role of the $D$-wave contribution starting from the photon-like quarkonium $V\to Q\bar Q$ transition in both frames: in the $Q\bar Q$ rest frame (with subsequent Melosh spin transform to the LF frame) and in the LF frame (without Melosh transform). We show that the photon-like transition imposed in the $Q\bar Q$ rest frame leads to significant discrepancies with the experimental data. In the second case we find that the corresponding total $J/ψ(1S)$ photoproduction cross sections are very close to those obtained with the "$S$-wave only" $V\to Q\bar Q$ transition, both leading to a good description of the data. However, we find that the "$S$-wave only" transition leads to a better description of photoproduction data for excited heavy quarkonium states, which represent a more effective tool for study of $D$-wave effects. Consequently, the predictions for production of excited states based on the photon-like structure of $V\to Q\bar Q$ transition should be treated with a great care due to a much stronger sensitivity of the $D$-wave contribution to the nodal structure of quarkonium wave functions.

Anomaly-free 2HDMs with a gauged abelian symmetry and two generations of right-handed neutrinos

Despite the popularity of two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) with a gauged abelian flavor symmetry, the allowed Yukawa textures have only been partly explored so far. In this work, we classify and compare every anomaly-free instance, in the case of having two generations of right-handed neutrinos and a type-I seesaw mechanism. We found 16 valid implementations in total, out of which 11 agree well with current experimental bounds. To our knowledge, neither of these models have been considered previously.

Central exclusive production of scalar and pseudoscalar charmonia in the light-front $k_T$-factorization approach

We study exclusive production of scalar $χ_{c0}\equiv χ_c(0^{++})$ and pseudoscalar $η_c$ charmonia states in proton-proton collisions at the LHC energies. The amplitudes for $gg \to χ_{c0}$ as well as for $gg \to η_c$ mechanisms are derived in the $k_{T}$-factorization approach. The $p p \to p p η_c$ reaction is discussed for the first time. We have calculated rapidity, transverse momentum distributions as well as such correlation observables as the distribution in relative azimuthal angle and $(t_1,t_2)$ distributions. The latter two observables are very different for $χ_{c0}$ and $η_c$ cases. In contrast to the inclusive production of these mesons considered very recently in the literature, in the exclusive case the cross section for $η_c$ is much lower than that for $χ_{c0}$ which is due to a special interplay of the corresponding vertices and off-diagonal UGDFs used to calculate the cross sections. We present the numerical results for the key observables in the framework of potential models for the light-front quarkonia wave functions. We also discuss how different are the absorptive corrections for both considered cases.

Classification of anomaly-free 2HDMs with a gauged U(1)' symmetry

Two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) with a flavored U(1)' gauge symmetry are a popular extension to the Standard Model (SM), yet they currently lack a complete survey. In this paper, we present a full classification of anomaly-free 2HDMs within the SM fermion content, resulting in a total of eleven distinct models. Four of these are relatively well-studied, while the rest either partially, or entirely, lack previous treatment. We study these textures under a variety of experimental bounds, focusing mainly on the previously unexplored models. This work is intended to act as a catalog to models worth considering in greater detail.

Exclusive photoproduction of excited quarkonia in ultraperipheral collisions

In this paper, we discuss the exclusive photoproduction of ground and excited states of $ψ(1S,2S)$ and $Υ(1S,2S)$ in ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs). Using the potential model in order to obtain the vector meson wave function, we find a good agreement of our calculations with data from the LHC and HERA colliders for $J/ψ(1S,2S) $ and $Υ(1S)$ in $γp$ collisions. We extend the calculations to the nuclear target case applying them to $AA$ UPCs with the use of the shadowing and finite coherence length effects fitted to the data. Our results are compared to the recent LHC data, in both incoherent ($J/Ψ(1S)$ at 2.76 TeV) and coherent ($J/Ψ(1S)$ at 2.76 and 5.02 TeV) processes. We also show the corresponding predictions for the excited states, in the hope that future measurements could provide more detailed information about the vector meson wave functions and nuclear effects.

Generalized Holographic Principle, Gauge Invariance and the Emergence of Gravity a la Wilczek

We show that a generalized version of the holographic principle can be derived from the Hamiltonian description of information flow within a quantum system that maintains a separable state. We then show that this generalized holographic principle entails a general principle of gauge invariance. When this is realized in an ambient Lorentzian space-time, gauge invariance under the Poincare group is immediately achieved. We apply this pathway to retrieve the action of gravity. The latter is cast a la Wilczek through a similar formulation derived by MacDowell and Mansouri, which involves the representation theory of the Lie groups SO(3,2) and SO(4,1).

Gravitational footprints of massive neutrinos and lepton number breaking

We investigate the production of primordial Gravitational Waves (GWs) arising from First Order Phase Transitions (FOPTs) associated to neutrino mass generation in the context of type-I and inverse seesaw schemes. We examine both "high-scale" as well as "low-scale" variants, with either explicit or spontaneously broken lepton number symmetry $U(1)_L$ in the neutrino sector. In the latter case, a pseudo-Goldstone majoron-like boson may provide a candidate for cosmological dark matter. We find that schemes with softly-broken $U(1)_L$ and with single Higgs-doublet scalar sector lead to either no FOPTs or too weak FOPTs, precluding the detectability of GWs in present or near future measurements. Nevertheless, we found that, in the majoron-like seesaw scheme with spontaneously broken $U(1)_L$ at finite temperatures, one can have strong FOPTs and non-trivial primordial GW spectra which can fall well within the frequency and amplitude sensitivity of upcoming experiments, including LISA, BBO and u-DECIGO. However, GWs observability clashes with invisible Higgs decay constraints from the LHC. A simple and consistent fix is to assume the majoron-like mass to lie above the Higgs-decay kinematical threshold. We also found that the majoron-like variant of the low-scale seesaw mechanism implies a different GW spectrum than the one expected in the high-scale seesaw. This feature will be testable in future experiments. Our analysis shows that GWs can provide a new and complementary portal to test the neutrino mass generation mechanism.

Hadroproduction of scalar $P$-wave quarkonia in the light-front $k_T$-factorization approach

In this work, we present a thorough analysis of scalar $P$-wave $χ_{Q0}$, $Q=c,b$ quarkonia electromagnetic form factors for the $γ^* γ^* \to χ_{Q0}$ couplings, as well as their hadroproduction observables in $k_\perp$-factorisation using the light-front potential approach for the quarkonium wave function. The electromagnetic form factors are presented as functions of photon virtualities. We discuss the role of the Melosh spin-rotation and relativistic corrections estimated by comparing our results with those in the standard nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) approach. Theoretical uncertainties of our approach are found by performing the analysis with two different unintegrated gluon densities and with five distinct models of the $Q\bar Q$ interaction potentials consistent with the meson spectra. The results for the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of $χ_{Q0}$ produced in high-energy $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13 \, \rm{TeV}$ are shown.

How low-scale Trinification sheds light in the flavour hierarchies, neutrino puzzle, dark matter and leptogenesis

We propose a low-scale renormalizable trinification theory that successfully explains the flavor hierarchies and neutrino puzzle in the Standard Model (SM), as well as provides a dark matter candidate and also contains the necessary means for efficient leptogenesis. The proposed theory is based on the trinification $\SU{3}{C}\times \SU{3}{L}\times \SU{3}{R}$ gauge symmetry, which is supplemented with an additional flavor symmetry $\U{X}\times Z_{2}^{(1)} \times Z_{2}^{(2)}$. In the proposed model the top quark and the exotic fermions acquire tree-level masses, whereas the lighter SM charged fermions gain masses radiatively at one-loop level. In addition, the light active neutrino masses arise from a combination of radiative and type-I seesaw mechanisms, with the Dirac neutrino mass matrix generated at one-loop level.

Isolated photon production and pion-photon correlations in high-energy $pp$ and $pA$ collisions

A phenomenological study of the isolated photon production in high energy $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies is performed. Using the color dipole approach we investigate the production cross section differential in the transverse momentum of the photon considering three different phenomenological models for the universal dipole cross section. We also present the predictions for the rapidity dependence of the ratio of $pA$ to $pp$ cross sections. As a further test of the formalism, for different energies and photon rapidites we analyse the correlation function in azimuthal angle $Δϕ$ between the photon and a forward pion. The characteristic double-peak structure of the correlation function around $Δϕ\simeq π$ observed previously for Drell-Yan pair production is found for isolated photon emitted into the forward rapidity region which can be tested by future experiments.

Phenomenology of vector-like leptons with Deep Learning at the Large Hadron Collider

In this paper, a model inspired by Grand Unification principles featuring three generations of vector-like fermions, new Higgs doublets and a rich neutrino sector at the low scale is presented. Using the state-of-the-art Deep Learning techniques we perform the first phenomenological analysis of this model focusing on the study of new charged vector-like leptons (VLLs) and their possible signatures at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In our numerical analysis we consider signal events for vector-boson fusion and VLL pair production topologies, both involving a final state containing a pair of charged leptons of different flavor and two sterile neutrinos that provide a missing energy. We also consider the case of VLL single production where, in addition to a pair of sterile neutrinos, the final state contains only one charged lepton. All calculated observables are provided as data sets for Deep Learning analysis, where a neural network is constructed, based on results obtained via an evolutive algorithm, whose objective is to maximise either the accuracy metric or the Asimov significance for different masses of the VLL. Taking into account the effect of the three analysed topologies, we have found that the combined significance for the observation of new VLLs at the high-luminosity LHC can range from $5.7σ$, for a mass of $1.25~\mathrm{TeV}$, all the way up to $28σ$ if the VLL mass is $200~\mathrm{GeV}$. We have also shown that by the end of the LHC Run-III a $200~\mathrm{GeV}$ VLL can be excluded with a confidence of $8.8$ standard deviations. The results obtained show that our model can be probed well before the end of the LHC operations and, in particular, providing important phenomenological information to constrain the energy scale at which new gauge symmetries emergent from the considered Grand Unification picture can be manifest.

Probing multi-step electroweak phase transition with multi-peaked primordial gravitational waves spectra

Multi-peaked spectra of the primordial gravitational waves are considered as a phenomenologically relevant source of information about the dynamics of sequential phase transitions in the early Universe. In particular, such signatures trace back to specific patterns of the first-order electroweak phase transition in the early Universe occurring in multiple steps. Such phenomena appear to be rather generic in multi-scalar extensions of the Standard Model. In a particularly simple extension of the Higgs sector, we have identified and studied the emergence of sequential long- and short-lasting transitions as well as their fundamental role in generation of multi-peaked structures in the primordial gravitational-wave spectrum. We discuss the potential detectability of these signatures by the proposed gravitational-wave interferometers.

Probing new physics with multi-vacua quantum tunnelings beyond standard model through gravitational waves

We report on a novel phenomenon of particle cosmology, which features specific cosmological phase transitions via quantum tunnelings through multiple vacua. The latter is inspired by the axiverse ideas and enables us to probe the associated new physics models through a potential observation of specific patterns in the stochastic gravitational waves background. Multiple vacua may induce the nucleation of co-existing bubbles over the phase transition epoch, hence enhancing the overall process of bubbles' nucleation. Our detailed analysis of semi-analytical and numerical solutions to the bounce equations of the path integral in three vacua case has enabled us to determine the existence of three instanton solutions. This new mechanism of cosmological phase transitions clearly predicts a possibly sizeable new source of gravitational waves, with its energy spectrum being featured with particular patterns, which could be probed by the future gravitational wave interferometers.

Spin-dependent Pomeron and Odderon in elastic proton-proton scattering

We introduce a new model of near-forward elastic proton-(anti)proton scattering at high energy based on the modern formulation of Pomeron and Odderon in terms of Wilson lines and generalized TMDs (GTMDs). We compute the helicity-dependent elastic amplitudes $ϕ_{1,2,3,4,5}$ in this model and study their energy dependence from the nonlinear small-$x$ evolution equations. While both Pomeron and Odderon contribute to helicity-flip processes in general, in the forward limit $t=0$ only the double helicity-flip amplitude $ϕ_2$, dominated by the spin-dependent Odderon, survives. This may affect the extraction of the $ρ$ parameter as well as the total cross section in the LHC energy domain and beyond.

Probing double parton scattering via associated open charm and bottom production in ultraperipheral $pA$ collisions

In this article, we propose a novel channel for phenomenological studies of the double-parton scattering (DPS) based upon associated production of charm $c\bar{c}$ and bottom $b\bar{b}$ quark pairs in well-separated rapidity intervals in ultra-peripheral high-energy proton-nucleus collisions. This process provides a direct access to the double-gluon distribution in the proton at small-$x$ and enables one to test the factorised DPS pocket formula. We have made the corresponding theoretical predictions for the DPS contribution to this process at typical LHC energies and beyond and we compute the energy-independent (but photon momentum fraction dependent) effective cross section.

Prompt hadroproduction of $η_c(1S,2S)$ in the $k_T$-factorization approach

In this work, we present a thorough analysis of $η_c(1S,2S)$ quarkonia hadroproduction in $k_\perp$-factorisation in the framework of the light-front potential approach for the quarkonium wave function. The off-shell matrix elements for the $g^* g^* η_c(1S,2S)$ vertices are derived. We discuss the importance of taking into account the gluon virtualities. %We discuss the role of relativistic corrections, the Melosh spin-rotation and theoretical uncertainties by comparing our results with the standard NRQCD approach. We present the transverse momentum distributions of $η_c$ for several models of the unintegrated gluon distributions. Our calculations are performed for four distinct parameterisations for the $c\bar c$ interaction potential consistent with the meson spectra. We compare our results for $η_c(1S)$ to measurements by the LHCb collaboration and present predictions for $η_c(2S)$ production.

All one-loop scalar vertices in the effective potential approach

Using the one-loop Coleman-Weinberg effective potential, we derive a general analytic expression for all the derivatives of the effective potential with respect to any number of classical scalar fields. The result is valid for a renormalisable theory in four dimensions with any number of scalars, fermions or gauge bosons. This result corresponds to the zero-external momentum contribution to a general one-loop diagram with N scalar external legs. We illustrate the use of the general result in two simple scalar singlet extensions of the Standard Model, to obtain the dominant contributions to the triple couplings of light scalar particles under the zero external momentum approximation

Beyond $Λ$CDM: Problems, solutions, and the road ahead

Despite its continued observational successes, there is a persistent (and growing) interest in extending cosmology beyond the standard model, $Λ$CDM. This is motivated by a range of apparently serious theoretical issues, involving such questions as the cosmological constant problem, the particle nature of dark matter, the validity of general relativity on large scales, the existence of anomalies in the CMB and on small scales, and the predictivity and testability of the inflationary paradigm. In this paper, we summarize the current status of $Λ$CDM as a physical theory, and review investigations into possible alternatives along a number of different lines, with a particular focus on highlighting the most promising directions. While the fundamental problems are proving reluctant to yield, the study of alternative cosmologies has led to considerable progress, with much more to come if hopes about forthcoming high-precision observations and new theoretical ideas are fulfilled.

Can the diphoton enhancement at 750 GeV be due to a neutral technipion?

We discuss a scenario in which the diphoton enhancement at $M_{γγ}$ = 750 GeV, observed by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations, is a neutral technipion $\tildeπ^0$. We consider two distinct minimal models for the dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. In a first one, two-flavor vector-like technicolor (VTC) model, we assume that the two-photon fusion is a dominant production mechanism. We include $γγ\to {\tilde π}^0$ and production of technipion associated with one or two jets. All the considered mechanisms give similar contributions. With the strong Yukawa (technipion-techniquark) coupling $g_{TC}$ = 10 - 20 we obtain the measured cross section of the "signal". With such values of $g_{TC}$ we get a relatively small $Γ_{\rm tot}$. In a second approach, one-family walking technicolor (WTC) model, the isoscalar technipion is produced dominantly via the gluon-gluon fusion. We also discuss the size of the signal at lower energies (LHC, Tevatron) for $γγ$ (VTC) and jet-jet (WTC) final states and check consistency with the existing experimental data. We predict a measurable cross section for ${\tilde π}^0$ production associated with one or two soft jets. The technipion signal in both models is compared with the SM background diphoton contributions. We observe the dominance of inelastic-inelastic processes for $γγ$ induced processes. In the VTC scenario, we predict the signal cross section for purely exclusive $p p \to p p γγ$ processes at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV to be about 0.2 fb. Such a cross section would be, however, difficult to measure with the planned integrated luminosity. In all considered cases the signal is below the background or/and below the threshold set by statistics.

Composite scalar Dark Matter from vector-like $SU(2)$ confinement

A toy-model with $SU(2)_{\rm TC}$ dynamics confined at high scales $Λ_{\rm TC}\gg 100$ GeV enables to construct Dirac UV completion from the original chiral multiplets predicting a vector-like nature of their weak interactions consistent with electroweak precision tests. In this work, we investigate a potential of the lightest scalar baryon-like (T-baryon) state $B^0=UD$ with mass $m_B\gtrsim 1$ TeV predicted by the simplest two-flavor vector-like confinement model as a Dark Matter (DM) candidate. We show that two different scenarios with the T-baryon relic abundance formation before and after the electroweak (EW) phase transition epoch lead to symmetric (or mixed) and asymmetric DM, respectively. Such a DM candidate evades existing direct DM detection constraints since its vector coupling to $Z$ boson absents at tree level, while one-loop gauge boson mediated contribution is shown to be vanishingly small close to the threshold. The dominating spin-independent (SI) T-baryon--nucleon scattering goes via tree-level Higgs boson exchange in the $t$-channel. The corresponding bound on the effective T-baryon--Higgs coupling has been extracted from the recent LUX data and turns out to be consistent with naive expectations from the light technipion case $m_{\tilde π}\ll Λ_{\rm TC}$. The latter provides the most stringent phenomenological constraint on strongly-coupled $SU(2)_{\rm TC}$ dynamics so far. Future prospects for direct and indirect scalar T-baryon DM searches in astrophysics as well as in collider measurements have been discussed.

Drell-Yan process in $pA$ collisions: the exact treatment of coherence effects

In this work, we investigate production of Drell-Yan (DY) pairs in proton-nucleus collisions in kinematic regions where the corresponding coherence length does not exceed the nuclear radius, $R_A$, and the quantum coherence effects should be treated with a special care. The results for the nucleus-to-nucleon production ratio available in the literature so far are usually based on the assumption of a very long coherence length (LCL) $l_c\gg R_A$. Since the onset of coherence effects is controlled by the coherence length $l_c$, we estimated its magnitude in various kinematic regions of the DY process and found that the LCL approximation should not be used at small and medium c.m. collision energies ($\sqrt{s} \lesssim 200$ GeV) as well as at large dilepton invariant masses. In order to obtain realistic predictions, we computed for the first time the DY cross section using the generalised color dipole approach based on the rigorous Green function formalism, which naturally incorporates the color transparency and quantum coherence effects and hence allows to estimate the nuclear shadowing with no restrictions on the CL. In addition to the shadowing effect, we studied a complementary effect of initial state interactions (ISI) that causes an additional suppression at large values of the Feynman variable. Numerical results for the nuclear modification factor accounting for the ISI effect and the finite $l_c$ are compared to the data available from the fixed-target FNAL measurements and a good agreement has been found. Besides, we present new predictions for the nuclear suppression as a function of dilepton rapidity and invariant mass in the kinematic regions that can be probed by the RHIC collider as well as by the planned AFTER@LHC and LHCb fixed-target experiments.

Dynamic colour screening in diffractive deep inelastic scattering

We present a novel Monte-Carlo implementation of dynamic colour screening via multiple exchanges of semi-soft gluons as a basic QCD mechanism to understand diffractive electron-proton scattering at the HERA collider. Based on the kinematics of individual events in the standard QCD description of deep inelastic scattering at the parton level, which at low $x$ is dominantly gluon-initiated, the probability is evaluated for additional exchanges of softer gluons resulting in an overall colour singlet exchange leading to a forward proton and a rapidity gap as the characteristic observables for diffractive scattering. The probability depends on the impact parameter of the soft exchanges and varies with the transverse size of the hard scattering subsystem and is therefore influenced by different QCD effects. We account for matrix elements and parton shower evolution either via conventional DGLAP $\log Q^2$-evolution with collinear factorisation or CCFM small-$x$ evolution with $k_\perp$-factorisation and discuss the sensitivity to the gluon density distribution in the proton and the importance of large log\,$x$-contributions. The overall result is that, with only two model parameters which have theoretically motivated values, a satisfactory description of the observed diffractive cross-section at HERA is obtained in a wide kinematical range.

Hard hadronic diffraction is not hard

Hadronic diffractive processes characterised by a hard scale (hard diffraction) contain a nontrivial interplay of hard and soft, nonperturbative interactions, which breaks down factorisation of short and long distances. On the contrary to the expectations based on the factorization hypothesis, assuming that hard diffraction is a higher twist, these processes should be classified as a leading twist. We overview various implications of this important observation for diffractive radiation of Abelian (Drell-Yan, gauge bosons, Higgs boson) and non-Abelian (heavy flavors) particles, as well as direct coalescence into the Higgs boson of the non-perturbative intrinsic heavy flavour component of the hadronic wave function.

Interpreting the 750 GeV diphoton signal as technipion

We discuss whether the enhancement in the diphoton final state at $M_{γγ}$ = 750 GeV, observed recently by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations could be a neutral pseudoscalar technipion $\tildeπ^0$. We considered two distinct minimal models for the dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. Here we concentrate only on two-flavor vector-like technicolor model and we assume that the two-photon fusion is a dominant production mechanism. We include contributions of $2 \to 1$, $2 \to 2$ and $2 \to 3$ partonic processes. All the mechanisms give similar contributions to the cross section. With the strong Yukawa (technipion-techniquark) coupling $g_{TC} \simeq 20$ we roughly obtain the measured cross section of the "signal". With such value of $g_{TC}$ we get a relatively small total decay width $Γ_{\rm tot}$. We discuss also the size of the signal at lower energies (LHC, Tevatron) for $γγ$ final states, where the enhancement was not observed. We predict a measurable cross section for neutral technipion production associated with one or two soft jets. The technipion signal is compared with the Standard Model diphoton background contributions. We observe the dominance of inelastic-inelastic $γγ$ processes. We predict the signal cross section for purely exclusive $p p \to p p γγ$ procesess at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV to be about 0.2 fb. Such a cross section would be, however, difficult to measure with the planned integrated luminosity. We conclude that in all considered cases the signal is below the background or/and below the threshold set by statistics although some tension can be seen.

Nuclear effects in Drell-Yan pair production in high-energy $pA$ collisions

The Drell-Yan (DY) process of dilepton pair production off nuclei is not affected by final state interactions, energy loss or absorption. A detailed phenomenological study of this process is thus convenient for investigation of the onset of initial-state effects in proton-nucleus ($pA$) collisions. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of the DY process in $pA$ interactions at RHIC and LHC energies in the color dipole framework. We analyse several effects affecting the nuclear suppression, $R_{pA}<1$, of dilepton pairs, such as the saturation effects, restrictions imposed by energy conservation (the initial-state effective energy loss) and the gluon shadowing, as a function of the rapidity, invariant mass of dileptons and their transverse momenta $p_T$. In this analysis, we take into account besides the $γ^*$ also the $Z^0$ contribution to the production cross section, thus extending the predictions to large dilepton invariant masses. Besides the nuclear attenuation of produced dileptons at large energies and forward rapidities emerging due to the onset of shadowing effects, we predict a strong suppression at large $p_T$, dilepton invariant masses and Feynman $x_F$ caused by the Initial State Interaction effects in kinematic regions where no shadowing is expected. The manifestations of nuclear effects are investigated also in terms of the correlation function in azimuthal angle between the dilepton pair and a forward pion $Δϕ$ for different energies, dilepton rapidites and invariant dilepton masses. We predict that the characteristic double-peak structure of the correlation function around $Δϕ\simeq π$ arises for very forward pions and large-mass dilepton pairs.

Quantum Yang--Mills Dark Energy

In this short review, I discuss basic qualitative characteristics of quantum non-Abelian gauge dynamics in the non-stationary background of the expanding Universe in the framework of the standard Einstein--Yang--Mills formulation. A brief outlook of existing studies of cosmological Yang--Mills fields and their properties will be given. Quantum effects have a profound impact on the gauge field-driven cosmological evolution. In particular, a dynamical formation of the spatially-homogeneous and isotropic gauge field condensate may be responsible for both early and late-time acceleration, as well as for dynamical compensation of non-perturbative quantum vacua contributions to the ground state of the Universe. The main properties of such a condensate in the effective QCD theory at the flat Friedmann--Lemaítre--Robertson--Walker (FLRW) background will be discussed within and beyond perturbation theory. Finally, a phenomenologically consistent dark energy can be induced dynamically as a remnant of the QCD vacua compensation arising from leading-order graviton-mediated corrections to the QCD ground state.

The Drell-Yan process as a testing ground for parton distributions up to LHC

The Drell-Yan massive dilepton production in hadron-hadron collisions provides a unique tool, complementary to Deep Inelastic Scattering, for improving our understanding of hadronic substructure and in particular for testing parton distributions. We will consider measurements of the differential and double-differential Drell-Yan cross sections from FNAL Tevatron up to CERN LHC energies and they will be compared to the predictions of perturbative QCD calculations using most recent sets (CT14 and MMHT14) of parton distribution functions, as well as those provided by the statistical approach.

Diffractive Bremsstrahlung in Hadronic Collisions

Production of heavy photons (Drell-Yan), gauge bosons, Higgs bosons, heavy flavors, which is treated within the QCD parton model as a result of hard parton-parton collision, can be considered as a bremsstrahlung process in the target rest frame. In this review, we discuss the basic features of the diffractive channels of these processes in the framework of color dipole approach. The main observation is a dramatic breakdown of diffractive QCD factorisation due to the interplay between soft and hard interactions, which dominates these processes. This observation is crucial for phenomenological studies of diffractive reactions in high-energy hadronic collisions.

Diffractive Higgsstrahlung

We consider single-diffractive (SD) Higgs production in association with heavy flavour in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The main focus of our study is a reliable estimate of SD/inclusive ratio, not a precision computation of the cross sections. The calculations are performed within the framework of the phenomenological dipole approach, which includes by default the absorptive corrections, i.e. the gap survival effects at the amplitude level. The dominant mechanism is the diffractive production of heavy quarks, which radiate a Higgs boson (Higgsstrahlung). Although diffractive production of $t$-quarks is grossly suppressed as $1/m_t^2$, the large Higgs-top coupling compensates this smallness and the Higgsstrahlung by $t$-quarks becomes the dominant contribution at large Higgs boson transverse momenta. We computed the basic observables such as the transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of the diffractively produced Higgs boson in association with the bottom and top quark pair. Finally, we discuss a potential relevance of the diffractive Higgsstrahlung in comparison to the Higgsstrahlung off intrinsic heavy flavor at forward Higgs boson rapidities.

Drell-Yan phenomenology in the color dipole picture revisited

An extensive phenomenological study of the Drell-Yan (DY) process in $pp$ collisions at various energies is performed in the color dipole framework. Besides previously studied $γ^*$ production we have also included the $Z^0$ contribution relevant at large dilepton invariant masses. We investigate the DY cross section differential in invariant mass, rapidity and transverse momentum of the dilepton pair in $pp$ collisions at RHIC and LHC. We consider three different phenomenological models for the dipole cross section and found a reasonable agreement with the available data. As a further test of the color dipole formalism, we also study the correlation function in azimuthal angle between the dilepton pair and a forward pion $Δϕ$ for different energies, dilepton rapidites and invariant masses. The characteristic double-peak structure of the correlation function around $Δϕ\simeq π$ found for very forward pions and low-mass dilepton pairs is sensitive to the saturation effects and can be tested by future DY measurements in $pp$ collisions.

Quasi-classical Gravity effect on neutrino oscillations in a gravitational field of an heavy astrophysical object

In the framework of quantum field theory, a graviton interacts locally with a quantum state having definite mass, i.e. the gravitational mass eigenstate, while a weak boson interacts with a state having definite flavor, i.e. the flavor eigenstate. An interaction of a neutrino with an energetic graviton may trigger the collapse of the neutrino to a definite mass eigenstate with probability expressed in terms of PMNS mixing matrix elements. Thus, gravitons would induce quantum decoherence of a coherent neutrino flavor state similarly to how weak bosons induce quantum decoherence of a neutrino in a definite mass state. We demonstrate that such an essentially quantum gravity effect may have strong consequences for neutrino oscillation phenomena in astrophysics due to relatively large scattering cross sections of relativistic neutrinos undergoing large-angle radiation of energetic gravitons in gravitational field of a classical massive source (i.e. the quasi-classical case of gravitational Bethe-Heitler scattering). This graviton-induced {\it decoherence} is compared to {\it decoherence} due to propagation in the presence of the Earth matter effect. Based on this study, we propose a new technique for the indirect detection of energetic gravitons by measuring the flavor composition of astrophysical neutrinos.

A heuristic description of high-pT hadron production in heavy ion collisions

Using a simplified model for in-medium dipole evolution accounting for color filtering effects we study production of hadrons at large transverse momenta $p_T$ in heavy ion collisions. In the framework of this model, several important sources of the nuclear suppression observed recently at RHIC and LHC have been analysed. A short production length of the leading hadron $l_p$ causes a strong onset of color transparency effects manifested themselves as a steep rise of the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}(p_T)$ at large hadron $p_T$'s. A dominance of quarks with higher $l_p$ leads to a weaker suppression at RHIC than the one observed at LHC. In the RHIC kinematic region we include an additional suppression factor steeply falling with $p_T$, which is tightly related to the energy conservation constraints. The latter is irrelevant at LHC up to $p_T\lesssim 70$ GeV while it causes a rather flat $p_T$ dependence of the $R_{AA}(p_T)$ factor at RHIC c.m. energy $\sqrt{s} = 200$ GeV and even an increasing suppression with $p_T$ at $\sqrt{s} = 62$ GeV. The calculations contain only a medium density adjustment, and for an initial time scale $t_0$ = 1 fm we found the energy-dependent maximal values of the transport coefficient, $\hat{q}_0 = 0.7, 1.0$ and 1.3 GeV$^2$/fm corresponding to $\sqrt{s} = 62, 200$ GeV and 2.76 TeV, respectively. We present a broad variety of predictions for the nuclear modification factor and the azimuthal asymmetry which are in a good agreement with available data from experiments at RHIC and LHC.

Dynamics of wave fluctuations in the homogeneous Yang-Mills condensate

In the present work, the Yang-Mills (YM) quantum-wave excitations of the classical homogeneous YM condensate have been studied in quasi-classical approximation. The formalism is initially formulated in the Hamilton gauge and is based upon canonical quantisation in the Heisenberg representation. This canonical framework is then extended and related to YM dynamics in arbitrary gauge and symmetry group containing at least one $SU(2)$ subgroup. Such generic properties of the interacting YM system as excitation of longitudinal wave modes and energy balance between the evolving YM condensate and waves have been established. In order to prove these findings, the canonical quasi-classical YM system "waves + condensate" in the pure simplest $SU(2)$ gauge theory has been thoroughly analysed numerically in the linear and next-to-linear approximations in the limit of small wave amplitudes. The effective gluon mass dynamically generated by wave self-interactions in the gluon plasma has been derived. A complete set of equations of motion for the YM "condensate + waves" system accounting for second- and third-order interactions between the waves has been obtained. In the next-to-linear approximation in waves we have found that due to interactions between the YM waves and the YM condensate, the latter looses its energy leading to the growth of amplitudes of the YM wave modes. A similar effect has been found in the maximally-supersymmetric ${\cal N}=4$ Yang-Mills theory as well as in two-condensate $SU(4)$ model. Possible implications of these findings to Cosmology and gluon plasma physics have been discussed.

Chiral-Symmetric Technicolor with Standard Model Higgs boson

Most of the traditional Technicolor-based models are known to be in a strong tension with the electroweak precision tests. We show that this serious issue is naturally cured in strongly coupled sectors with chiral-symmetric vector-like gauge interactions in the framework of gauged linear σ-model. We discuss possible phenomenological implications of such non-standard chiral-symmetric Technicolor scenario in its simplest formulation preserving the Standard Model (SM) Higgs mechanism. For this purpose, we assume the existence of an extra technifermion sector confined under extra SU(3)_TC at the energy scales reachable at the LHC, Λ_TC ~ 0.1-1 TeV, and interacting with the SM gauge bosons in a chiral-symmetric (vector-like) way. In the framework of this scenario, the SM Higgs vev acquires natural interpretation in terms of the condensate of technifermions in confinement in the nearly conformal limit. We study the influence of the lowest lying composite physical states, namely, technipions, technisigma and constituent technifermions, on the Higgs sector properties in the SM and other observables at the LHC. We found out that the predicted Higgs boson signal strengths in γγ, vector-boson VV* and fermion ffbar decay channels can be sensitive to the new strongly-coupled dynamics and are consistent with the current SM-like Higgs boson observations in the limit of relatively small Higgs-technisigma mixing. At the same time, the chiral-symmetric Technicolor provides us with rich technipion phenomenology at the LHC, and its major implications are discussed in detail.

Dark Energy from graviton-mediated interactions in the QCD vacuum

Adopting the hypothesis about the exact cancellation of vacuum condensates contributions to the ground state energy in particle physics to the leading order in graviton-mediated interactions, we argue that the observable cosmological constant can be dynamically induced by an uncompensated quantum gravity correction to them after the QCD phase transition epoch. To start with, we demonstrate a possible cancellation of the quark-gluon condensate contribution to the total vacuum energy density of the Universe at temperatures $T<100$ MeV without taking into account the graviton-mediated effects. In order to incorporate the latter, we then calculate the leading-order quantum correction to the classical Einstein equations due to metric fluctuations induced by the non-perturbative vacuum fluctuations of the gluon and quark fields in the quasiclassical approximation. It has been demonstrated that such a correction to the vacuum energy density has a form $\varepsilon_Λ\sim G Λ_{\rm QCD}^6$, where $G$ is the gravitational constant, and $Λ_{\rm QCD}$ is the QCD scale parameter. We analyze capabilities of this approach based on the synthesis between quantum gravity in quasiclassical approximation and theory of non-perturbative QCD vacuum for quantitative explanation of the observed Dark Energy density.

Diffractive gauge bosons production beyond QCD factorisation

We discuss single diffractive gauge bosons ($γ^*,\,W^{\pm},\,Z$) production in proton-proton collisions at different (LHC and RHIC) energies within the color dipole approach. The calculations are performed for gauge bosons produced at forward rapidities. The diffractive cross section is predicted as function of fractional momentum and invariant mass of the lepton pair. We found a dramatic breakdown of the diffractive QCD factorisation caused by an interplay of hard and soft interactions. Data from the CDF experiment on diffractive production of $W$ and $Z$ are well explained in a parameter free way.

On a possible compensation of the QCD vacuum contribution to the Dark Energy

We suggest one of the possible ways to compensate the large negative quantum-topological QCD contribution to the vacuum energy density of the Universe by means of a positive constant contribution from a cosmological Yang-Mills field. An important role of the exact particular solution for the Yang-Mills field corresponding to the finite-time instantons is discussed. An interesting connection of the compensation mechanism to the color confinement in the framework of instanton models has been pointed out. Besides the $Λ_{\rm QCD}$ scale, this proposal relies on one yet free dimensionless normalisation constant which cannot be fixed by the perturbative QCD theory, and thus should be fine-tuned for the exact compensation to hold.

QCD diffractive mechanism of exclusive $W^+W^-$ pair production at high energies

We discuss new diffractive mechanism of central exclusive production of $W^+W^-$ pairs in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. We include diagrams with intermediate virtual Higgs boson as well as quark box diagrams. Several observables related to this process are calculated. Predictions for the total cross section and differential distributions in $W$-boson rapidity and transverse momentum as well as $WW$ invariant mass are presented. We also show results for different polarization states of the final $W^{\pm}$ bosons. We compare the contribution of the $γγ\to W^+ W^-$ mechanism considered in the literature with the contribution of the diffractive mechanism through the $gg \to W^+ W^-$ subprocess for the different observables. The phase space integrated diffractive contribution when separated is only a small fraction of fb compared to 115.4 fb of the $γγ$-contribution without absorption. The latter contribution dominates at small four-momentum transfers squared in the proton lines and in a broad range of $W^+ W^-$ invariant masses. This offers a possibility of efficient searches for anomalous triple-boson ($γW W$) and quartic-boson ($γγWW$) couplings and testing models beyond the Standard Model. We discuss shortly also the $p p \to p p γγ$ process, where the box contribution is very similar to that for $W^+ W^-$ and compare our results with recent CDF data. Nice agreement has been achieved without additional free parameters.

Search for technipions in exclusive production of diphotons with large invariant masses at the LHC

We focus on exclusive production of neutral technipion $\tilde π^0$ in $pp$ collisions at the LHC, i.e. on $p p \to p p \tilde π^0$ reaction. The dependence of the cross section on parameters of recently proposed vector-like Technicolor model is studied. Characteristic features of the differential distributions are discussed. For not too large technipion masses the diphoton decay channel has the dominant branching fraction. This is also the main reason for an enhanced production of neutral technipions in $γγ$-fusion reaction. We discuss potential backgrounds of the QCD and QED origin to the $p p \to p p (\tildeπ^0 \to γγ)$ process at large invariant $γγ$ masses. We conclude that compared to inclusive case the signal-to-background ratio in the considered exclusive reaction is vary favorable which thereby could serve as a good probe for Technicolor dynamics searches at the LHC.

Vector-like technineutron Dark Matter: is a QCD-type Technicolor ruled out by XENON100?

We continue to explore a question about the existence of a new strongly coupled dynamics above the electroweak scale. The latter has been recently realized in the simplest consistent scenario, the vector-like (or chiral-symmetric) Technicolor model based upon the gauged linear sigma-model. One of the predictions of a new strong dynamics in this model, the existence of stable vector-like technibaryon states at a TeV scale, such that the lightest neutral one could serve as a Dark Matter candidate. Here, we consider the QCD-type Technicolor with SU(3)_TC confined group and one SU(2)_W doublet of vector-like techniquarks and test this model against existing Dark Matter astrophysics data. We show that the spin-independent Dirac technineutron-nucleon cross section is by far too large and ruled out by XENON100 data. We conclude that vector-like techniquark sectors with an odd group of confinement SU(2n+1)_TC, n=1,2,... and with ordinary vector-like weak SU(2)_W interactions are excluded if the technibaryon number is conserved. We discuss a possible generic TC scenario with a technibaryon sector interacting via an extra vector SU(2)_V other than the standard weak SU(2)_W and consider immediate implications for the cosmological evolution and freeze out of heavy relic technineutrons.

We compare the contribution of the $γγ\to W^+ W^-$ mechanism with a new mechanism of exclusive diffractive production through the $gg \to W^+ W^-$ subprocess with intermediate virtual Higgs boson and quark box diagrams. The phase space integrated diffractive contribution when separated is only a small fraction of fb compared to 115.4 fb of the $γγ$-contribution without absorption. Diffractive W production at hadron colliders as a test of colour singlet exchange mechanisms

We revisit diffractive and exclusive W production at hadron colliders in different models for soft colour exchanges. The process pp to p[WX]p, and in particular a W charge asymmetry, has been suggested as a way to discriminate diffractive processes as being due to pomeron exchange in Regge phenomenology or QCD-based colour reconnection models. Our detailed analysis of the latter models at LHC energies shows, however, that they give similar results as pomeron models for very leading protons and central W production, including a vanishing W charge asymmetry. We demonstrate that soft colour exchange models provide a continuous transition from diffractive to inelastic processes and thereby include the intrinsic asymmetry of inelastic interactions while being at the same time sensitive to the underlying hadronisation models. Such sensitivity also concerns the differential distributions in proton momentum and W transverse momentum which opens possibilities to discriminate between different colour reconnection models.

Associated central exclusive production of charged Higgs bosons

We propose central exclusive production of a charged Higgs boson in association with a W boson as a possible signature of certain types of extended Higgs sectors. We calculate the cross section and find that the rate at the LHC could be large enough to allow observation in some models with two Higgs doublets, where the charged Higgs and at least one of the neutral scalars can be light enough. We use the two-Higgs doublet model as a prototype and consider two distinct regions of parameter space, but we also briefly discuss the prospects for the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, where the charged Higgs may very well be quite light.

New contributions to central exclusive production of dijets in proton-(anti)proton collisions

We consider central exclusive production of $gg$ dijets in proton-proton (proton-antiproton) collisions at LHC and Tevatron for different intermediate and final gluon polarisations. The amplitude for the process is derived within the $k_\perp$-factorization approach (with both the standard QCD and the Lipatov's effective three-gluon verticies) and is considered in various kinematical asymptotia, in particular, in the important limit of high-$p_\perp$ jets. Compared to earlier works we include emissions of gluons from different gluonic $t$-channel lines as well as emission of quark-antiquark dijets. Rapidity distributions, gluon jet $p_\perp$ distributions and invariant dijet mass distributions are presented. We explore the competition of the standard diagram with both jets emitted from a single $t$-channel gluon and the one with the emission from both $t$-channel gluons. The second mechanism requires a special treatment. We propose two different approaches. Including special kinematics and using properties of off-diagonal gluons at small $x$ and $ξ$ we arrive to correlations in two-dimensional distributions in rapidity of one and second jet. We find that the second contribution is much smaller than that known from the literature. The digluon production constitutes an important background to exclusive Higgs production.

Nucleon spin structure at low momentum transfers

The generalized Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule is known to be very sensitive to QCD radiative and power corrections. We improve the previously developed QCD-inspired model for the $Q^2$-dependence of the GDH sum rule. We take into account higher order radiative and higher twist power corrections extracted from precise Jefferson Lab data on the lowest moment of the spin-dependent proton structure function $Γ_1^{p}(Q^2)$ and on the Bjorken sum rule $Γ_1^{p-n}(Q^2)$. By using the singularity-free analytic perturbation theory we demonstrate that the matching point between chiral-like positive-$Q^2$ expansion and QCD operator product $1/Q^2$-expansion for the nucleon spin sum rules can be shifted down to rather low $Q\simeqΛ_{QCD}$ leading to a good description of recent proton, neutron, deuteron and Bjorken sum rule data at all accessible $Q^2$.
