The Classical and Quantum Monodromy of the Champagne bottle potential

The Champagne bottle is one of the simplest and typical examples of Liouville integrable systems that exhibit a non-trivial classical monodromy. This geometrical invariant perturbs globally the existence of action-angle coordinates on the phrase space. However, our work shows a new way to detect the geometric modification on the phrase space by looking at the spectrum of a single operator, that is small non-selfadjoint perturbation of a selfadjoint semiclassical operator accepting the Hamiltonian of the Champagne bottle as its principal symbol.

Spectral monodromy of small non-selfadjoint perturbed operators: completely integrable or quasi-integrable case

We build a combinatorial invariant, called the spectral monodromy from the spectrum of a non-selfadjoint h -pseudodifferential operator with two degrees of freedom in the semi-classical limit. We treat small non-selfadjoint perturbation of selfadjoint h-pseudodifferential operators in two case: in the first, we assume that the classical flow of the unperturbed part is integrable; the second case, more interesting, when this flow is assumed to be quasi-integrable.

Carleman estimate for infinite cylindrical quantum domains and application to inverse problems

We consider the inverse problem of determining the time independent scalar potential of the dynamic Schrödinger equation in an infinite cylindrical domain, from one Neumann boundary observation of the solution. Assuming that this potential is known outside some fixed compact subset of the waveguide, we prove that it may be Lipschitz stably retrieved by choosing the Dirichlet boundary condition of the system suitably. Since the proof is by means of a global Carleman estimate designed specifically for the Schrödinger operator acting in an unbounded cylindrical domain, the Neumann data is measured on an infinitely extended subboundary of the cylinder.

Spectral monodromy of non selfadjoint operators

We propose to build a combinatorial invariant, called the spectral monodromy, from the spectrum of a single non-selfadjoint h-pseudodifferential operator with two degrees of freedom in the semi-classical limit. Our inspiration comes from the quantum monodromy defined for the joint spectrum of an integrable system of n commuting selfadjoint h-pseudodifferential operators, given by S. Vu Ngoc. The first simple case that we treat in this work is a normal operator. In this case, the discrete spectrum can be identified with the joint spectrum of an integrable quantum system. The second more complex case we propose is a small perturbation of a selfadjoint operator with a classical integrability property. We show that the discrete spectrum (in a small band around the real axis) also has a combinatorial monodromy. The difficulty here is that we do not know the description of the spectrum everywhere, but only in a Cantor type set. In addition, we also show that the monodromy can be identified with the classical monodromy defined by J. Duistermaat.
