A flow approach to the Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image problem

In this paper, the extended Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image problem is studied. Such a problem aims to characterize the Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image measure $\widetilde{C}_{G,Ψ,λ}(Ω,\cdot)$ of convex body $Ω$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ containing the origin (but the origin is not necessary in its interior). In particular, we provide solutions to the extended Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image problem based on the study of suitably designed parabolic flows, and by the use of approximation technique (for general measures). Our parabolic flows involve two Musielak-Orlicz functions and hence contain many well-studied curvature flows related to Minkowski type problems as special cases. Our results not only generalize many previously known solutions to the Minkowski type and Gauss image problems, but also provide solutions to those problems in many unsolved cases.

The $L_p$-Minkowski problem with super-critical exponents

The $L_p$-Minkowski problem deals with the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with prescribed $p$-area measures. It extends the classical Minkowski problem and embraces several important geometric and physical applications. The Existence of solutions has been obtained in the sub-critical case $p>-n-1$, but the problem remains widely open in the super-critical case $p<-n-1$. In this paper, we introduce new ideas to solve the problem for all the super-critical exponents. A crucial ingredient in our proof is a topological method based on the calculation of the homology of a topological space of ellipsoids.

Regularity in Monge's mass transfer problem

In this paper, we study the regularity of optimal mappings in Monge's mass transfer problem. Using the approximation to Monge's cost function given by the Euclidean distance c(x,y)=dist(x,y) through the costs c_\eps(x,y)=(\eps^2+dist(x,y)^2)^{1/2}, we consider the optimal mappings T_\eps for these costs, and we prove that the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix DT_\eps, which are all positive, are locally uniformly bounded. By an example we prove that T_\eps is in general not uniformly Lipschitz continuous as \eps-0, even if the mass distributions are positive and smooth, and the domains are c-convex.
