Twisted commutativity and conjugacy ratio in groups

In this paper we introduce and study the degree of twisted commutativity and the twisted conjugacy ratio of a finitely generated group $G$. The degree of twisted commutativity $\mathrm{tdc}_X(φ, G)$ generalises the degree of commutativity of $G$, by measuring the density of pairs of elements with trivial twisted commutators in the ball of radius $n$ of $G$, as $n \rightarrow \infty$, where the twisting is done with respect to an endomorphism $φ$ of $G$. We compute $\mathrm{tdc}_X(φ, G)$ for several classes of groups, including virtually abelian groups, groups of subexponential growth, and free groups. We then study the twisted conjugacy ratio $\mathrm{tcr}_{X}(φ, G)$, which is the limit at infinity of the quotient of the twisted conjugacy and standard growth functions. We compute $\mathrm{tcr}_{X}(φ, G)$ for virtually abelian groups, and give examples of groups of exponential growth such that $\mathrm{tcr}_{X}(φ, G) = 0$.

The Reidemeister spectrum of direct products of nilpotent groups

We investigate the Reidemeister spectrum of direct products of nilpotent groups. More specifically, we prove that the Reidemeister spectra of the individual factors yield complete information for the Reidemeister spectrum of the direct product if all groups are finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent and have a directly indecomposable rational Malcev completion. We show this by determining the complete automorphism group of the direct product.

The Reidemeister spectrum of finite abelian groups

For a finite abelian group $A$, the Reidemeister number of an endomorphism $φ$ equals the size of $\mathrm{Fix}(φ)$, the set of fixed points of $φ$. Consequently, the Reidemeister spectrum of $A$ is a subset of the set of divisors of $|A|$. We fully determine the Reidemeister spectrum of $|A|$, that is, which divisors of $|A|$ occur as the Reidemeister number of an automorphism. To do so, we discuss and prove a more general result providing upper and lower bounds on the number of fixed points of automorphisms related to a given automorphism $φ$.

The Reidemeister spectrum of split metacyclic groups

Given a group $G$ and an automorphism $φ$ of $G$, two elements $x, y \in G$ are said to be $φ$-conjugate if $x = gy φ(g)^{-1}$ for some $g \in G$. The number of equivalence classes for this relation is the Reidemeister number $R(φ)$ of $φ$. The set $\{R(ψ) \mid ψ\in \mathrm{Aut}(G)\}$ is called the Reidemeister spectrum of $G$. We fully determine the Reidemeister spectrum of split metacyclic groups of the form $C_{n} \rtimes C_{p}$ where $p$ is a prime and the action is non-trivial.
