Reconstruction of the ground-layer adaptive-optics point spread function for MUSE Wide Field Mode observations

Here we describe a simple, efficient, and most importantly fully operational point-spread-function(PSF)-reconstruction approach for laser-assisted ground layer adaptive optics (GLAO) in the frame of the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) Wide Field Mode. Based on clear astrophysical requirements derived by the MUSE team and using the functionality of the current ESO Adaptive Optics Facility we aim to develop an operational PSF-reconstruction (PSFR) algorithm and test it both in simulations and using on-sky data. The PSFR approach is based on a Fourier description of the GLAO correction to which the specific instrumental effects of MUSE Wide Field Mode (pixel size, internal aberrations, etc.) have been added. It was first thoroughly validated with full end-to-end simulations. Sensitivity to the main atmospheric and AO system parameters was analysed and the code was re-optimised to account for the sensitivity found. Finally, the optimised algorithm was tested and commissioned using more than one year of on-sky MUSE data. We demonstrate with an on-sky data analysis that our algorithm meets all the requirements imposed by the MUSE scientists, namely an accuracy better than a few percent on the critical PSF parameters including full width at half maximum and global PSF shape through the kurtosis parameter of a Moffat function. The PSFR algorithm is publicly available and is used routinely to assess the MUSE image quality for each observation. It can be included in any post-processing activity which requires knowledge of the PSF.

A probabilistic approach to large time behaviour of mild solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations in infinite dimension

We study the large time behaviour of mild solutions of HJB equations in infinite dimension by a purely probabilistic approach. For that purpose, we show that the solution of a BSDE in finite horizon $T$ taken at initial time behaves like a linear term in $T$ shifted with the solution of the associated EBSDE taken at initial time. Moreover we give an explicit speed of convergence, which seems to appear very rarely in literature.

A probabilistic approach to large time behaviour of viscosity solutions of parabolic equations with Neumann boundary conditions

This paper is devoted to the study of the large time behaviour of viscosity solutions of parabolic equations with Neumann boundary conditions. This work is the sequel of [13] in which a probabilistic method was developped to show that the solution of a parabolic semilinear PDE behaves like a linear term $λT$ shifted with a function $v$, where $(v,λ)$ is the solution of the ergodic PDE associated to the parabolic PDE. We adapt this method in finite dimension by a penalization method in order to be able to apply an important basic coupling estimate result and with the help of a regularization procedure in order to avoid the lack of regularity of the coefficients in finite dimension. The advantage of our method is that it gives an explicit rate of convergence.

Ergodic BSDEs and related PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions under weak dissipative assumptions

We study a class of ergodic BSDEs related to PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions. The randomness of the drift is given by a forward process under weakly dissipative assumptions with an invertible and bounded diffusion matrix. Furthermore, this forward process is reflected in a convex subset of $\R^d$ not necessary bounded. We study the link of such EBSDEs with PDEs and we apply our results to an ergodic optimal control problem.
