Quasi-modular spaces with applications to quasi-normed Calderón-Lozanovski\uı spaces

In this paper we introduce the notion of a quasi-modular and we prove that the respective Minkowski functional of the unit quasi-modular ball becomes a quasi-norm. In this way, we refer to and complete the well-known theory related to the notions of a modular and a convex modular that lead to the F-norm and to the norm, respectively. We use the obtained results to consider basic properties of quasi-normed Calderón-Lozanovski\uı spaces $E_φ$, where the lower Matuszewska-Orlicz index $α_φ$ plays the key role. We also give a number of theorems concerning different copies of $l^{\infty}$ in the spaces $E_φ$ in the natural language of suitable properties of the space $E$ and the function $φ$. Our studies are conducted in a full possible generality.

Isomorphic and isometric structure of the optimal domains for Hardy-type operators

We investigate structure of the optimal domains for the Hardy-type operators including, for example, the classical Cesàro, Copson and Volterra operators as well as for some of their generalizations. We prove that, in some sense, the abstract Cesàro and Copson function spaces are closely related to the space $L^1$, namely, they contain "in the middle" a complemented copy of $L^1[0,1]$, asymptotically isometric copy of $\ell^1$ and also can be renormed to contain an isometric copy of $L^1[0,1]$. Moreover, the generalized Tandori function spaces are quite similar to $L^\infty$ because they contain an isometric copy of $\ell^\infty$ and can be renormed to contain an isometric copy of $L^\infty[0,1]$. Several applications to the metric fixed point theory will be given. Next, we prove that the Cesàro construction $X \mapsto CX$ does not commutate with the truncation operation of the measure space support. We also study whether a given property transfers between a Banach function space $X$ and the space $TX$, where $T$ is the Cesàro or the Copson operator. In particular, we find a large class of properties which do not lift from $TX$ into $X$ and prove that the abstract Cesàro and Copson function spaces are never reflexive, are not isomorphic to a dual space and do not have the Radon--Nikodym property in general.

Pointwise products of some Banach function spaces and factorization

The well-known factorization theorem of Lozanovski{\u ı} may be written in the form $L^{1}\equiv E\odot E^{\prime}$, where $\odot $ means the pointwise product of Banach ideal spaces. A natural generalization of this problem would be the question when one can factorize $F$ through $E$, i.e., when $F\equiv E\odot M(E, F) \,$, where $M(E, F) $ is the space of pointwise multipliers from $E$ to $F$. Properties of $M(E, F) $ were investigated in our earlier paper [KLM12] and here we collect and prove some properties of the construction $E\odot F$. The formulas for pointwise product of Calderón-Lozanovski{\u ı} $E_φ$ spaces, Lorentz spaces and Marcinkiewicz spaces are proved. These results are then used to prove factorization theorems for these spaces. Finally, it is proved in Theorem 11 that under some natural assumptions, a rearrangement invariant Banach function space may be factorized through Marcinkiewicz space.
