Reflection matrices from Hadamard-type Temperley-Lieb R-matrices

We classify non-operatorial matrices K solving Skylanin's quantum reflection equation for all R-matrices obtained from the newly defined general rank- n Hadamard type representations of the Temperley-Lieb algebra $TL_N(\sqrt n)$. They are characterized by a universal set of algebraic equations in a specific canonical basis uniquely defined from the "Master matrix" associated to the chosen realization of Temperley-Lieb algebra

Symmetries of spin systems and Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra

We consider integrable open spin chains related to the quantum affine algebras U_q(o(3)) and U_q(A_2^{(2)}). We discuss the symmetry algebras of these chains with the local C^3 space related to the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra. The symmetry algebra and the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra centralize each other in the representation space, and this defines the structure of the spin system spectra. Consequently, the corresponding multiplet structure of the energy spectra is obtained.

Jordanian deformation of the open XXX-spin chain

The general solution to the reflection equation associated with the jordanian deformation of the SL(2) invariant Yang R-matrix is found. The same K-matrix is obtained by the special scaling limit of the XXZ-model with general boundary conditions. The Hamiltonian with the boundary terms is explicitly derived according to the Sklyanin formalism. We discuss the structure of the spectrum of the deformed XXX-model and its dependence on the boundary conditions.

Chains of Frobenius subalgebras of so(M) and the corresponding twists

Chains of extended jordanian twists are studied for the universal enveloping algebras U(so(M)). The carrier subalgebra of a canonical chain F cannot cover the maximal nilpotent subalgebra N(so(M)). We demonstrate that there exist other types of Frobenius subalgebras in so(M) that can be large enough to include N(so(M)). The problem is that the canonical chains F do not preserve the primitivity on these new carrier spaces. We show that this difficulty can be overcome and the primitivity can be restored if one changes the basis and passes to the deformed carrier spaces. Finally the twisting elements for the new Frobenius subalgebras are explicitly constructed. This gives rise to a new family of universal R-matrices for orthogonal algebras. For a special case of g = so(5) and its defining representation we present the corresponding matrix solution of the Yang-Baxter equation.

Chains of twists for classical Lie algebras

For chains of regular injections A_p -> A_(p-1) -> ... -> A_1 -> A_0 of Hopf algebras the sets of maximal extended Jordanian twists F_E are considered. We prove that under certain conditions there exists for A_0 the twist composed by the factors (F_E)_k. The general construction of a chain of twists is applied to the universal envelopings U(g) of classical Lie algebras g. We study the chains for the infinite series A_n, B_n and D_n. The properties of the deformation produced by a chain U_F(g) are explicitly demonstrated for the case of g = so(9).

Twist-related geometries on q-Minkowski space

The role of the quantum universal enveloping algebras of symmetries in constructing non-commutative geometry of the space-time including vector bundles, measure, equations of motion and their solutions is discussed. In the framework of the twist theory the Klein-Gordon-Fock and Dirac equations on the quantum Minkowski space are studied from this point of view for the simplest quantum deformation of the Lorentz algebra induced by its Cartan subalgebra twist.

Twisted h-spacetimes and invariant equations

We analyze the h-deformations of the Lorentz group and their associated spacetimes. We prove that they have a twisted character and give explicitly the twisting matrices. After studying the representations of one of the deformed spacetime algebras, we discuss the Klein-Gordon operator. It is found that the h-deformed d'Alembertian has plane wave solutions of the same form as the standard ones. We also give explicit expressions for the h-gamma matrices defining the associated Dirac equations.

Quantum group covariant systems

The meaning of quantum group transformation properties is discussed in some detail by comparing the (co)actions of the quantum group with those of the corresponding Lie group, both of which have the same algebraic (matrix) form of the transformation. Various algebras are considered which are covariant with respect to the quantum (super) groups $SU_q(2),\; SU_q(1, 1),\; SU_q(1|1),\; SU_q(n), \\ SU_q(m|n),\; OSp_q(1|2)$ as well as deformed Minkowski space-time algebras.

Quantum groups and deformed special relativity

The structure and properties of possible $q$-Minkowski spaces is discussed, and the corresponding non-commutative differential calculi are developed in detail and compared with already existing proposals. This is done by stressing its covariance properties as described by appropriate reflection equations. Some isomorphisms among the space-time and derivative algebras are demonstrated, and their representations are described briefly. Finally, some physical consequences and open problems are discussed.

Stationary problems for equation of the KdV type and dynamical $r$-matrices.

We study a quite general family of dynamical $r$-matrices for an auxiliary loop algebra ${\cal L}({su(2)})$ related to restricted flows for equations of the KdV type. This underlying $r$-matrix structure allows to reconstruct Lax representations and to find variables of separation for a wide set of the integrable natural Hamiltonian systems. As an example, we discuss the Henon-Heiles system and a quartic system of two degrees of freedom in detail.

Yang-Baxter equation and reflection equations in integrable models

The definitions of the main notions related to the quantum inverse scattering methods are given. The Yang-Baxter equation and reflection equations are derived as consistency conditions for the factorizable scattering on the whole line and on the half-line using the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra. Due to the vertex-IRF model correspondence the face model analogue of the ZF-algebra and the IRF reflection equation are written down as well as the $Z_2$-graded and colored algebra forms of the YBE and RE.

Constant Solutions of Reflection Equations and Quantum Groups

To the Yang-Baxter equation an additional relation can be added. This is the reflection equation which appears in various places, with or without spectral parameter. For example, in factorizable scattering on a half-line, integrable lattice models with non-periodic boundary conditions, non-commutative differential geometry on quantum groups, etc. We study two forms of spectral parameter independent reflection equations, chosen by the requirement that their solutions be comodules with respect to the quantum group coaction leaving invariant the reflection equations. For a variety of known solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation we give the constant solutions of the reflection equations. Various quadratic algebras defined by the reflection equations are also given explicitly.

Covariance Properties of Reflection Equation Algebras

The reflection equations (RE) are a consistent extension of the Yang-Baxter equations (YBE) with an addition of one element, the so-called reflection matrix or $K$-matrix. For example, they describe the conditions for factorizable scattering on a half line just like the YBE give the conditions for factorizable scattering on an entire line. The YBE were generalized to define quadratic algebras, \lq Yang-Baxter algebras\rq\ (YBA), which were used intensively for the discussion of quantum groups. Similarly, the RE define quadratic algebras, \lq the reflection equation algebras\rq\ (REA), which enjoy various remarkable properties both new and inherited from the YBA. Here we focus on the various properties of the REA, in particular, the quantum group comodule properties, generation of a series of new solutions by composing known solutions, the extended REA and the central elements, etc.
