Optical probing of magnons and phonons in Ni80Fe20 nanodot arrays

Control of collective spin excitations by static or dynamic strain is an emerging phenomenon that requires in-depth understanding for design of future spin-wave-regulated devices. Here, we explore mutually interacting spin waves and acoustic wave modes in addition to few non-interactive modes through all optical excitation in ordered arrays of Ni80Fe20 nanomagnets. The acoustic wave originated from elastic deformation resonantly couple to the spin wave via magnetoelastic effect at their overlapping frequency. We demonstrate that the choice of the lattice type in which the magnetic nanodots are arranged is crucial for the observation of the magnetoelastic interaction. Therefore, the study shows that the simultaneous existence of elastic wave and spin wave offer ingeneously advantageous features to pave the way of energy-efficient magnetoacoustic devices.

On inversions and Doob $h$-transforms of linear diffusions

Let $X$ be a regular linear diffusion whose state space is an open interval $E\subseteq\mathbb{R}$. We consider a diffusion $X^*$ which probability law is obtained as a Doob $h$-transform of the law of $X$, where $h$ is a positive harmonic function for the infinitesimal generator of $X$ on $E$. This is the dual of $X$ with respect to $h(x)m(dx)$ where $m(dx)$ is the speed measure of $X$. Examples include the case where $X^*$ is $X$ conditioned to stay above some fixed level. We provide a construction of $X^*$ as a deterministic inversion of $X$, time changed with some random clock. The study involves the construction of some inversions which generalize the Euclidean inversions. Brownian motion with drift and Bessel processes are considered in details.

On a functional equation appearing in characterization of distributions by the optimality of an estimate

Let $X$ be a second countable locally compact Abelian group containing no subgroup topologically isomorphic to the circle group $\mathbb{T}$. Let $μ$ be a probability distribution on $X$ such that its characteristic function $\hatμ(y)$ does not vanish and $\hatμ(y)$ for some $n \geq 3$ satisfies the equation $$ \prod_{j=1}^{n} \hatμ(y_j + y) = \prod_{j=1}^{n}\hatμ(y_j - y), \quad \sum_{j=1}^{n} y_j = 0, \quad y_1,\dots,y_n,y \in Y. $$ Then $μ$ is a convolution of a Gaussian distribution and a distribution supported in the subgroup of $X$ generated by elements of order 2.
