We prove a fixed point theorem that combines the contraction mapping principle and some Knaster-Tarski-like theorem. As a consequence we obtain an existence theorem to initial value problem for ordinary differential equation with discontinuous vector field. This theorem generalizes Carathéodory's existence theorem.
We consider a system of ODE in a Fréchet space with unconditional Schauder basis. The right side of the ODE is a discontinuous function. Under certain monotonicity conditions we prove an existence theorem for the corresponding initial value problem. We employ an idea of the partial order which seems to be new in this field.
The Lagrange-D'Alembert Principle is one of the fundamental tools of classical mechanics. We generalize this principle to mechanics-like ODE in Banach spaces. As an application we discuss geodesics in infinite dimensional manifolds and a random ODE with nonholonomic constraint.
We consider a particle on the horizontal plane with a dry friction. The friction is anisotropic but symmetric under the group of rotations of the plane. It turns out that the particle can move such that in the finite time the trajectory turns about the center of symmetry infinitely many times.
It is shown that some class of differential inclusions has solutions that are defined and bounded for all real values of independent variable. Applications to dynamics are considered.
A Lagrangian system with two degrees of freedom is considered. The configuration space of the system is a cylinder. A large class of periodic solutions has been found. The solutions are not homotopy equivalent to each other.
We propose a simple model which possesses the chain fountain effect.
We generalise the Caristi Fixed Point Theorem to the mappings of the complete semi-metric spaces.
We propose the existence theorem for bounded solutions to the system of 2-nd order ODE. Dynamical applications have been considered.
We consider evolution differential equations in Fréchet spaces that possess unconditional Schauder basis and construct a version of the majorant functions method to obtain existence theorems for Cauchy problems. Applications to PDE and ODE have been considered.
The Lagrange-d'Alembert equations with constraints belonging to H1,∞ have been considered. A concept of weak solutions to these equations has been built. Global existence theorem for Cauchy problem has been obtained.
We consider a semilinear elliptic equation in a bounded domain with zero boundary conditions. The nonlinearity is discontinuous and monotone, but it is not a Carathéodory's function. The existence theorem has been proved.
We consider nonholonomic systems with collisions and propose a concept of weak solutions to Lagrange-d'Alembert equations. In the light of this concept we describe dynamics of the collisions. Several applications have been investigated. Particularly the collision of rotating ball and the rough floor has been considered.
