Well-posedness of stochastic heat equation with distributional drift and skew stochastic heat equation

We study stochastic reaction--diffusion equation $$ \partial_tu_t(x)=\frac12 \partial^2_{xx}u_t(x)+b(u_t(x))+\dot{W}_{t}(x), \quad t>0,\, x\in D $$ where $b$ is a generalized function in the Besov space $\mathcal{B}^β_{q,\infty}({\mathbb R})$, $D\subset{\mathbb R}$ and $\dot W$ is a space-time white noise on ${\mathbb R}_+\times D$. We introduce a notion of a solution to this equation and obtain existence and uniqueness of a strong solution whenever $β-1/q\ge-1$, $β>-1$ and $q\in[1,\infty]$. This class includes equations with $b$ being measures, in particular, $b=δ_0$ which corresponds to the skewed stochastic heat equation. For $β-1/q > -3/2$, we obtain existence of a weak solution. Our results extend the work of Bass and Chen (2001) to the framework of stochastic partial differential equations and generalizes the results of Gyöngy and Pardoux (1993) to distributional drifts. To establish these results, we exploit the regularization effect of the white noise through a new strategy based on the stochastic sewing lemma introduced in Lê~(2020).

Asymptotic strong Feller property and local weak irreducibility via generalized couplings

In this short note we show how the asymptotic strong Feller property (ASF) and local weak irreducibility can be established via generalized couplings. We also prove that a stronger form of ASF together with local weak irreducibility implies uniqueness of an invariant measure. The latter result is optimal in a certain sense and complements some of the corresponding results of Hairer, Mattingly (2008).

Regularization by noise and flows of solutions for a stochastic heat equation

Motivated by the regularization by noise phenomenon for SDEs we prove existence and uniqueness of the flow of solutions for the non-Lipschitz stochastic heat equation $$\frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=\frac12\frac{\partial^2 u}{\partial z^2} + b(u(t,z)) + \dot{W}(t,z), $$ where $\dot W$ is a space-time white noise on $\mathbb{R}_+\times\mathbb{R}$ and $b$ is a bounded measurable function on $\mathbb{R}$. As a byproduct of our proof we also establish the so-called path--by--path uniqueness for any initial condition in a certain class on the same set of probability one. This extends recent results of Davie (2007) to the context of stochastic partial differential equations.

Subgeometric rates of convergence of Markov processes in the Wasserstein metric

We establish subgeometric bounds on convergence rate of general Markov processes in the Wasserstein metric. In the discrete time setting we prove that the Lyapunov drift condition and the existence of a "good" $d$-small set imply subgeometric convergence to the invariant measure. In the continuous time setting we obtain the same convergence rate provided that there exists a "good" $d$-small set and the Douc-Fort-Guillin supermartingale condition holds. As an application of our results, we prove that the Veretennikov-Khasminskii condition is sufficient for subexponential convergence of strong solutions of stochastic delay differential equations.

On ergodic properties of nonlinear Markov chains and stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations

We study ergodic properties of nonlinear Markov chains and stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations. For nonlinear Markov chains we obtain sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of an invariant measure and uniform ergodicity. We also prove optimality of these conditions. For stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations we establish exponential convergence of their solutions to stationarity in the total variation metric under Veretennikov-Khasminskii-type conditions.

Statistical methods of SNP data analysis with applications

Various statistical methods important for genetic analysis are considered and developed. Namely, we concentrate on the multifactor dimensionality reduction, logic regression, random forests and stochastic gradient boosting. These methods and their new modifications, e.g., the MDR method with "independent rule", are used to study the risk of complex diseases such as cardiovascular ones. The roles of certain combinations of single nucleotide polymorphisms and external risk factors are examined. To perform the data analysis concerning the ischemic heart disease and myocardial infarction the supercomputer SKIF "Chebyshev" of the Lomonosov Moscow State University was employed.
