Leptogenesis in $E_6 \times U(1)_A$ SUSY GUT model

We study the thermal leptogenesis in the $E_6\times U(1)_A$ SUSY GUT model in which realistic masses and mixings of quarks and leptons can be realized. We show that the sufficient baryon number can be produced by the leptogenesis in the model, in which the mass parameter of the lightest right-handed neutrino is predicted to be smaller than $10^8$ GeV. The essential point is that the mass of the lightest right-handed neutrino can be enhanced in the model because it has a lot of mass terms whose mass parameters are predicted to be the same order of magnitude which is smaller than $10^8$ GeV. We show that O(10) enhancement for the lightest right-handed neutrino mass is sufficient for the observed baryon asymmetry. Note that such mass enhancements do not change the predictions of neutrino masses and mixings at the low energy scale in the $E_6$ model which has six right-handed neutrinos. In the calculation, we include the effects of supersymmetry and flavor in final states of the right-handed neutrino decay. We show that the effect of supersymmetry is quite important even in the strong washout regime when the effect of flavor is included. This is because the washout effects on the asymmetries both of the muon and the electron become weaker than that of the tau asymmetry.

Preheating with higher dimensional interaction

Particle production caused by the oscillation after inflation is important since it explains reheating after inflation. On the particle theory side, we know that effective action may have additional higher dimensional terms (usually called non-renormalizable terms) suppressed by the cut-off scale. Moreover, interaction between inflaton and so-called moduli field will be higher dimensional. Therefore, if such higher dimensional interaction is significant for resonant particle production, one cannot avoid the effect in preheating study. We explicitly calculated the required number of oscillation for the energy transfer. Consequently, cosmological history of an oscillating field and the moduli problem can be reconsidered.

Beauty is more attractive: Particle Production and Moduli trapping with Higher Dimensional Interaction

We study quantum effects on moduli dynamics arising from particle production near the enhanced symmetry point (ESP). We focus on non-renormalizable couplings between the moduli field and the field that becomes light at the ESP. Considering higher dimensional interaction, we find that particle production is significant in a large area, which is even larger than the area that is expected from a renormalizable interaction. It is possible to find this possibility from a trivial adiabatic condition; however the quantitative estimation of particle production and trapping of the field in motion are far from trivial. In this paper we study particle production and trapping in detail, using both the analytical and numerical calculations, to find a clear and intuitive result that supports trapping in a vast variety of theories. Our study shows that trapping driven by a non-renormalizable interaction is possible. This possibility has not been considered in previous works. Some phenomenological models of particle physics will be mentioned to complement discussion.

Heavy gravitino, naturalness, and sizable anomaly mediation

We consider the situation in which $m_{3/2}\sim O(100{\rm TeV})$ for solving the gravitino problem and the other supersymmetry(SUSY) breaking parameters are $O(1{\rm TeV})$ for the naturalness. We point out that the anomaly mediation cancels out the renormalization group contribution to the gaugino masses and the sfermion masses other than the stop masses at a scale which is called the mirage scale. The situation is similar to the mirage mediation, in which special boundary conditions for the SUSY breaking parameters are required, though for the stop masses and the up-type Higgs mass, such cancellation at the mirage scale does not happen. Despite no cancellation for the up-type Higgs mass, we show that the little hierarchy problem becomes less severe in this situation. One advantage of this situation over the mirage mediation is that the stop mixing parameter $A_t$ can be larger and therefore, smaller stop mass is sufficient for 125 GeV Higgs. When the mirage scale is around TeV scale, the SUSY breaking parameters induced by the gravity mediation at the grand unification scale can be observed directly by the TeV scale experiments.

Nucleon decay via dimension 6 operators in anomalous U(1)_A SUSY GUT

Nucleon lifetimes for various decay modes via dimension 6 operators are calculated in the anomalous $U(1)_A$ GUT scenario, in which the unification scale $Λ_u$ becomes smaller than the usual supersymmetric (SUSY) unification scale $Λ_G=2\times 10^{16}$ GeV in general. Since the predicted lifetime $τ(p\rightarrow π^0+e^c)$ becomes around the experimental lower bound though it is strongly dependent on the explicit models, the discovery of the nucleon decay in near future can be expected. We explain why the two ratios $R_1\equiv\frac{Γ_{n \rightarrow π^0 + ν^c}}{Γ_{p \rightarrow π^0 + e^c}}$ and $R_2\equiv\frac{Γ_{p \rightarrow K^0 + μ^c}}{Γ_{p \rightarrow π^0 + e^c}}$ are important in identifying grand unification group and we show that three anomalous $U(1)_A$ SUSY GUT models with $SU(5)$, $SO(10)$ and $E_6$ grand unification group can be identified by measuring the two ratios. If $R_1$ is larger than $0.4$, the grand unification group is not $SU(5)$, and moreover if $R_2$ is larger than $0.3$, the grand unification group is implied to be $E_6$.

Nucleon decay via dimension-6 operators in $E_6 \times SU(2)_F \times U(1)_A$ SUSY GUT model

In the previous paper, we have shown that $R_1\equiv\frac{Γ_{n \rightarrow π^0 + ν^c}}{Γ_{p \rightarrow π^0 + e^c}}$ and $R_2\equiv\frac{Γ_{p \rightarrow K^0 + μ^c}}{Γ_{p \rightarrow π^0 + e^c}}$ can identify the grand unification group $SU(5)$, $SO(10)$, or $E_6$ in typical anomalous $U(1)_A$ supersymmetric (SUSY) grand unified theory (GUT) in which nucleon decay via dimension-6 operators becomes dominant. When $R_1 > 0.4$ the grand unification group is not $SU(5)$, while when $R_1 > 1$ the grand unification group is $E_6$. Moreover, when $R_2 > 0.3$, $E_6$ is implied. Main ambiguities come from the diagonalizing matrices for quark and lepton mass matrices in this calculation once we fix the vacuum expectation values of GUT Higgs bosons. In this paper, we calculate $R_1$ and $R_2$ in $E_6\times SU(2)_F$ SUSY GUT with anomalous $U(1)_A$ gauge symmetry, in which realistic quark and lepton masses and mixings can be obtained though the flavor symmetry $SU(2)_F$ constrains Yukawa couplings at the GUT scale. The ambiguities of Yukawa couplings are expected to be reduced. We show that the predicted region for $R_1$ and $R_2$ is more restricted than in the $E_6$ model without $SU(2)_F$ as expected. Moreover, we re-examine the previous claim for the identification of grand unification group with $100$ times more model points ($10^6$ model points), including $E_6 \times SU(2)_F$ model.

Sizable D-term contribution as a signature of $E_6 \times SU(2)_F \times U(1)_A$ SUSY GUT model

We show that the sizable $D$-term contributions to sfermion mass spectrum can be signatures of certain GUT, $E_6\times SU(2)_F\times U(1)_A$ GUT. Note that these $D$-term contributions deviate the degenerate sfermion masses among different generations in this model. This is different from the previous works which have argued the $D$-term contributions, which deviate masses only between sfermions with different quantum charges, as a signature of GUT with larger rank unification group. Such $D$-terms are strongly constrained by the FCNC processes if the SUSY breaking scale is the weak scale. However, in $E_6\times SU(2)_F\times U(1)_A$, natural SUSY type sfermion mass spectrum is obtained, and if the masses of ${\bf 10}_3$ sfermions are larger than $O(1{\rm TeV})$ to realize 126 GeV Higgs and the other sfermion masses are $O(10{\rm TeV})$, then sizable $D$-term contribution is allowed. If the deviations by these $D$-terms can be observed in future experiments like 100 TeV proton collider or muon collider, we may confirm the $E_6\times SU(2)_F\times U(1)_A$ GUT.

Averaged Number of the Lightest Supersymmetric Particles in Decay of Superheavy Particle with Long Lifetime

We calculate the averaged number νof the lightest supersymmetric particles (LSPs) in a shower from the decay of superheavy particle X by generalized DGLAP equations. If the primary decayed particles have color charges and the virtuality is around 10^13-10^14 GeV, the averaged number of the LSPs can become O(100). As the result, the upper limit of the mass of the superheavy particle, whose decay can produce the observed abundance of the dark matter, can increase from 10^12 GeV to 10^14 GeV. Since the typical scale of the inflaton mass of the chaotic inflation is around 10^13 GeV, the decay of the inflaton can produce the observed dark matter abundance if the reheating temperature is of order 1 GeV. Even for the standard model particles with virtuality Q\sim 10-100 TeV, the averaged number of the LSPs becomes O(0.1) for gluon, and O(0.01) for Higgs, which strongly constrains the scenario of non-thermal LSP production from the decay of moduli with 10-100 TeV mass.

Heterotic E6 GUTs and Partition Functions

The E6 grand unified theory is an attractive candidate intermediate theory between the standard model and string theory. However, only one E6 grand unified model with three generations and at least one adjoint Higgs field has been derived from string theory in the literature, and this model is phenomenologically unsatisfactory. Recently, in arXiv:1012.1690, we have constructed two new such E6 grand unified models in heterotic asymmetric orbifolds. Although our new models themselves cannot resolve the unsatisfactory point in the previous model, our discovery raises hopes that one can construct many other such models in this framework and find better models. Here, by giving partition functions explicitly, we explain the details of our construction. Utilizing the lattice engineering technique and the diagonal embedding method, we can construct models systematically. We hope that these techniques and the details of our construction will lead to more phenomenologically desirable models.

Neutrino properties in E6 x SU(2)F SUSY GUT with spontaneous CP violation

We examined the neutrino sector in E6 x SU(2)F SUSY GUT with spontaneous CP violation. At a glance, the discrete symmetry, which is introduced in order to solve the SUSY CP problem, constrains the allowed operators too strongly for the neutrino sector to be consistent with the experimental data, i.e., the mu neutrino becomes massless as commented in the previous paper. We showed that this issue can be solved if some operators are taken into account. And we saw that such operators do not play an important role in studying quark and charged lepton sectors. The predictions on the neutrino masses and mixings are the same as the E6 models, which are consistent with various experiments on the neutrino oscillations.

Baryogenesis by B - L generation due to superheavy particle decay

We have shown that the $B-L$ generation due to the decay of the thermally produced superheavy fields can explain the Baryon assymmetry in the universe if the superheavy fields are heavier than $10^{13-14}$ GeV. Note that although the superheavy fields have non-vanishing charges under the standard model gauge interactions, the thermally prduced baryon asymmetry is sizable. The $B-L$ violating effective operators induced by integrating the superheavy fields have dimension 7, while the operator in the famous leptogenesis has dimension 5. Therefore, the constraints from the nucleon stability can be easily satisfied.

E6 grand unified theory with three generations from heterotic string

We construct two more supersymmetric E6 grand unified models with three generations within the framework of Z12 asymmetric orbifold compactification of the heterotic string theory. Such an asymmetric orbifold is missing in the classification in the literature, which concludes that only one E6 model is possible. In both of the new models, an adjoint Higgs field is obtained in virtue of the diagonal embedding method. This method mods out the three E6 factors of an even self-dual momentum-lattice by a permutation symmetry. In order to realize the E6^3 even self-dual lattice, we utilize the lattice engineering technique. Among the eight possible orbifold actions in our setup, two lead to new E6 models. Though these models still share the unsatisfactory issues with the known one, our discovery raises hopes that excellent models that solve all the problems in the supersymmetric grand unified models will be found in this framework.

Flavor structure of E6 GUT models

It has been pointed out that in E6 grand unified theory with SU(2) family symmetry, the spontaneous CP violation can solve the supersymmetric CP problem. The scenario predicts V_{ub} \sim O(λ^4) rather than O(λ^3) which is naively expected value, because of a cancellation at the leading order. Since the experimental value of V_{ub} is O(λ^4), it must be important to consider the reason and the conditions for the cancellation. In this paper, we give a simple reason for the cancellation and show that in some E6 models such a cancellation requires that the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the adjoint Higgs does not break U(1)_{B-L}. Note that this direction of the VEV plays an important role in solving the doublet-triplet splitting problem by Dimopoulos-Wilczek mechanism. In this E6 models, the experiments may measure the direction of the adjoint Higgs VEV by measuring the size of V_{ub} \sim O(λ^4).

Gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking with generalized messenger sector at LHC

We consider the generalized gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) models with the messenger fields which do not form the complete multiplets of SU(5) GUT symmetry. Such a situation may happen in the anomalous U(1) GUT scenario because the mass spectrum of the superheavy particle does not respect SU(5) GUT symmetry, although the success of the gauge coupling unification can be explained. In this paper, we assume that one pair of the messenger fields gives the dominant contribution, and the LHC signature for the two possible messengers, X + \bar{X} and Q + \bar{Q}, are examined. We investigate the possibility to measure the deviation from the usual GUT relation of the gaugino masses which is one of the most important features of these scenarios.

LHC signature of supersymmetric models with non-universal sfermion masses

We study the LHC signature of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with non-universal sfermion masses. In the model, soft masses of gauginos and the 3rd generation of 10 of SU(5) are around the weak scale, while other sfermion soft mass is universal and around a few TeV. Such sfermion mass spectrum is motivated not only from flavor, CP and naturalness constraints but also from E_6 grand unified model with non-Abelian horizontal (flavor) symmetry. The characteristic signature of the model at the LHC is the dominance of the events with 4 b partons in the final state together with high rate of mildly boosted top quark arising from gluino decay. The prominent high p_T jet also arises from squark decay. We show it is possible to find the characteristic signature in the early stage of the LHC. The discrimination of our scenario from some CMSSM model points with similar signature may be possible with large integrated luminosity. The result of sparticle mass measurement using exclusive channel with the help of hemisphere analysis, and inclusive measurement of gluino and squark masses using M_{T2} and M_{T2}^{min} in some representative model points are presented.

Supersymmetric SU(3)^3 unification with Anomalous U(1)_A Gauge Symmetry

We consider supersymmetric unification based on the gauge symmetry SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times SU(3)_R supplemented by an anomalous U(1)_A gauge symmetry. Realistic fermion masses and mixings are realized, including large mixings in the neutrino sector. We also consider the supersymmetric flavor problem, gauge coupling unification and proton decay. The dominant proton decay mode is expected to be p-> e^+π^0 and the lifetime is estimated to be \sim 10^{34}-10^{35} years.

Duality of a Supersymmetric Standard Model

We examine a dual theory of a Supersymmetric Standard Model(SSM) in terms of an $SU(3)_C$ gauge group. In this scenario, it is naturally understood that at least one quark (the top quark) should be heavy, i.e., almost the same order as the weak scale. Moreover, the supersymmetric Higgs mass parameter $μ$ can naturally be expected to be small. This model automatically induces nine pairs of composite Higgs fields, which may be observed in the near future.

Vector-like Strong Coupling Theory with Small S and T Parameters

We discuss a mechanism which can reduce the S and T parameters in dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking scenario. It is interesting that not only T but also S parameters can be made small even if large isospin violation exists, which can realize the heavy top quark. The point is that if massive vector-like fermions, which have gauge invariant masses, can condense and break the electroweak symmetry, the S and T parameters can be small because of the decoupling theorem. Moreover, the model predicts a heavier Higgs boson, which may be found in LHC. The presentation basically follows the original papers.
