A note on the Gauss-Manin connection for abelian schemes

We study differential forms on the universal vector extension $A^\natural$ of an abelian scheme $A$ in characteristic zero, and derive a new construction of the $D$-group scheme structure on $A^\natural$. This gives, in particular, a rather simple description of the Gauss--Manin connection on the de Rham cohomology of $A$ in terms of global algebraic differential forms on $A^\natural$. The key ingredient is the computation of the coherent cohomology of $A^{\natural}$, due to Coleman and Laumon.

Modular graph forms from equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals

The low-energy expansion of closed-string scattering amplitudes at genus one introduces infinite families of non-holomorphic modular forms called modular graph forms. Their differential and number-theoretic properties motivated Brown's alternative construction of non-holomorphic modular forms in the recent mathematics literature from so-called equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals. In this work, we provide the first validations beyond depth one of Brown's conjecture that equivariant iterated Eisenstein integrals contain modular graph forms. Apart from a variety of examples at depth two and three, we spell out the systematics of the dictionary and make certain elements of Brown's construction fully explicit to all orders.

Realizations of the formal double Eisenstein space

We introduce the formal double Eisenstein space $\mathcal{E}_k$, which is a generalization of the formal double zeta space $\mathcal{D}_k$ of Gangl-Kaneko-Zagier, and prove analogues of the sum formula and parity result for formal double Eisenstein series. We show that $\mathbb Q$-linear maps $\mathcal{E}_k\rightarrow A$, for some $\mathbb Q$-algebra $A$, can be constructed from formal Laurent series (with coefficients in $A$) that satisfy the Fay identity. As the prototypical example, we define the Kronecker realization $ρ^{\mathfrak{K}}: \mathcal{E}_k\rightarrow \mathbb Q[[q]]$, which lifts Gangl-Kaneko-Zagier's Bernoulli realization $ρ^B: \mathcal{D}_k\rightarrow \mathbb Q$, and whose image consists of quasimodular forms for the full modular group. As an application to the theory of modular forms, we obtain a purely combinatorial proof of Ramanujan's differential equations for classical Eisenstein series.

Meromorphic modular forms and the three-loop equal-mass banana integral

We consider a class of differential equations for multi-loop Feynman integrals which can be solved to all orders in dimensional regularisation in terms of iterated integrals of meromorphic modular forms. We show that the subgroup under which the modular forms transform can naturally be identified with the monodromy group of a certain second-order differential operator. We provide an explicit decomposition of the spaces of modular forms into a direct sum of total derivatives and a basis of modular forms that cannot be written as derivatives of other functions, thereby generalising a result by one of the authors form the full modular group to arbitrary finite-index subgroups of genus zero. Finally, we apply our results to the two- and three-loop equal-mass banana integrals, and we obtain in particular for the first time complete analytic results for the higher orders in dimensional regularisation for the three-loop case, which involves iterated integrals of meromorphic modular forms.

Elliptic multizetas and the elliptic double shuffle relations

We define an elliptic generating series whose coefficients, the elliptic multizetas, are related to the elliptic analogues of multiple zeta values introduced by Enriquez as the coefficients of his elliptic associator; both sets of coefficients lie in $\mathcal{O}(\mathfrak{H})$, the ring of functions on the Poincaré upper half-plane $\mathfrak H$. The elliptic multizetas generate a $\mathbb Q$-algebra $\mathcal{E}$ which is an elliptic analogue of the algebra of multiple zeta values. Working modulo $2πi$, we show that the algebra $\mathcal{E}$ decomposes into a geometric and an arithmetic part and study the precise relationship between the elliptic generating series and the elliptic associator defined by Enriquez. We show that the elliptic multizetas satisfy a double shuffle type family of algebraic relations similar to the double shuffle relations satisfied by multiple zeta values. We prove that these elliptic double shuffle relations give all algebraic relations among elliptic multizetas if (a) the classical double shuffle relations give all algebraic relations among multiple zeta values and (b) the elliptic double shuffle Lie algebra has a certain natural semi-direct product structure analogous to that established by Enriquez for the elliptic Grothendieck-Teichmüller Lie algebra.

Towards algebraic iterated integrals on elliptic curves via the universal vectorial extension

For an elliptic curve $E$ defined over a field $k\subset \mathbb C$, we study iterated path integrals of logarithmic differential forms on $E^\dagger$, the universal vectorial extension of $E$. These are generalizations of the classical periods and quasi-periods of $E$, and are closely related to multiple elliptic polylogarithms and elliptic multiple zeta values. Moreover, if $k$ is a finite extension of $\mathbb Q$, then these iterated integrals along paths between $k$-rational points are periods in the sense of Kontsevich--Zagier.

Relations between elliptic multiple zeta values and a special derivation algebra

We investigate relations between elliptic multiple zeta values and describe a method to derive the number of indecomposable elements of given weight and length. Our method is based on representing elliptic multiple zeta values as iterated integrals over Eisenstein series and exploiting the connection with a special derivation algebra. Its commutator relations give rise to constraints on the iterated integrals over Eisenstein series relevant for elliptic multiple zeta values and thereby allow to count the indecomposable representatives. Conversely, the above connection suggests apparently new relations in the derivation algebra. Under https://tools.aei.mpg.de/emzv we provide relations for elliptic multiple zeta values over a wide range of weights and lengths.

Elliptic Double Zeta Values

We study an elliptic analogue of multiple zeta values, the elliptic multiple zeta values of Enriquez, which are the coefficients of the elliptic KZB associator. Originally defined by iterated integrals on a once-punctured complex elliptic curve, it turns out that they can also be expressed as certain linear combinations of indefinite iterated integrals of Eisenstein series and multiple zeta values. In this paper, we prove that the $\mathbb{Q}$-span of these elliptic multiple zeta values forms a $\mathbb{Q}$-algebra, which is naturally filtered by the length and is conjecturally graded by the weight. Our main result is a proof of a formula for the number of $\mathbb{Q}$-linearly independent elliptic multiple zeta values of lengths one and two for arbitrary weight.
