ConGUSTo: (HT)Condor Graphical Unified Supervising Tool

HTCondor is a distributed job scheduler developed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which allows users to run their applications in other users' machines when they are not being used, thus providing a considerably increase in the overall computational power and a more efficient use of the computing resources. Our institution has been successfully using HTCondor for more than ten years, and HTCondor is nowadays the most used Supercomputing resource we have. Although HTCondor provides a wide range of tools and options for its management and administration, there are currently no tools that can show detailed usage information and statistics in a clear, easy to interpret, interactive set of graphics displays. For this reason, we have developed ConGUSTo, a web-based tool that allows to collect HTCondor usage and statistics data in an easy way, and present them using a variety of tabular and graphics charts.

IACTalks: an on-line archive of astronomy-related seminars

We present IACTalks, a free and open access seminars archive (http://iactalks.iac.es) aimed at promoting astronomy and the exchange of ideas by providing high-quality scientific seminars to the astronomical community. The archive of seminars and talks given at the Instituto de Astrofiísica de Canarias goes back to 2008. Over 360 talks and seminars are now freely available by streaming over the internet. We describe the user interface, which includes two video streams, one showing the speaker, the other the presentation. A search function is available, and seminars are indexed by keywords and in some cases by series, such as special training courses or the 2011 Winter School of Astrophysics, on secular evolution of galaxies. The archive is made available as an open resource, to be used by scientists and the public.

3D Spectroscopic Observations of Star-Forming Dwarf Galaxies

We give an introduction into the observational technique of integral field or 3D spectroscopy. We discuss advantages and drawbacks of this type of observations and highlight a few science projects enabled by this method. In the second part we describe our 3D spectroscopic survey of Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies. We show preliminary results from data taken with the VIMOS integral field unit and give an outlook on how automated spectral analysis and forthcoming instruments can provide a new view on star formation and associated processes in dwarf galaxies.
