Families of Invariant Divisors on Rational Complexity-One T-Varieties

We study invariant divisors on the total spaces of the homogeneous deformations of rational complexity-one T-varieties constructed by Ilten and Vollmert. In particular, we identify a natural subgroup of the Picard group for any general fiber of such a deformation, which is canonically isomorphic to the Picard group of the special fiber. This isomorphism preserves Euler characteristic, intersection numbers, and the canonical class.

Toric Degenerations of Fano Threefolds Giving Weak Landau-Ginzburg Models

We show that every rank one smooth Fano threefold has a weak Landau-Ginzburg model coming from a toric degeneration. The fibers of these Landau-Ginzburg models can be compactified to K3 surfaces with Picard lattice of rank 19. We also show that any smooth Fano variety of arbitrary dimension which is a complete intersection of Cartier divisors in weighted projective space has a very weak Landau-Ginzburg model coming from a toric degeneration.

Deformations of Rational T-Varieties

We show how to construct certain homogeneous deformations for rational normal varieties with codimension one torus action. This can then be used to construct homogeneous deformations of any toric variety in arbitrary degree. For locally trivial deformations coming from this construction, we calculate the image of the Kodaira-Spencer map. We then show that for a smooth complete toric variety, our homogeneous deformations span the space of first-order deformations.

Deformations of Smooth Toric Surfaces

For a complete, smooth toric variety Y, we describe the graded vector space T_Y^1. Furthermore, we show that smooth toric surfaces are unobstructed and that a smooth toric surface is rigid if and only if it is Fano. For a given toric surface we then construct homogeneous deformations by means of Minkowski decompositions of polyhedral subdivisions, compute their images under the Kodaira-Spencer map, and show that they span T_Y^1.

Polarized Complexity-One T-Varieties

We describe polarized complexity-one T-varieties combinatorially in terms of so-called divisorial polytopes, and show how geometric properties of such a variety can be read off the corresponding divisorial polytope. We compare our description with other possible descriptions of polarized complexity-one T-varieties. We also describe how to explicitly find generators of affine complexity-one T-varieties.
