Thermal suppression of bubble nucleation at first-order phase transitions in the early Universe

One of the key observables in a gravitational wave power spectrum from a first order phase transition in the early Universe is the mean bubble spacing, which depends on the rate of nucleation of bubbles of the stable phase, as well as the bubble wall speed. When the bubbles expand as deflagrations, it is expected that the heating of the fluid in front of the phase boundary suppresses the nucleation rate. We quantify the effect, showing that it increases the mean bubble separation, and acts to enhance the gravitational wave signal by a factor of up to order 10. The effect is largest for small wall speeds and strong transitions.

Curvaton: Perturbations and reheating

We study chaotic and runaway potential inflationary models in the curvaton scenario. In particular, we address the issue of large tensor-to-scalar ratio and red-tilted spectrum in chaotic models and reheating in runaway model in the light of latest Planck results. We show that curvaton can easily circumvent these problems and is well applicable to both type of models. For chaotic models, the observable non-Gaussianity put strong constraints on the decay epoch of curvaton as well as on its field value around the horizon exit. Besides, it can also explain the observed red-tilt in the spectrum as a consequence of its negative mass-squared value. As for the runaway inflationary models, curvaton by sudden decay into the background radiation provides an efficient reheating mechanism, whereas the inflaton rolls down from its potential and enters into the kinetic regime. To this effect, we consider the generalized exponential potential and obtain the allowed parametric space for model parameters. From the estimates on inflaton parameters, we constrained the curvaton mass and then the reheating temperature. We constrained the latter for both dominating and sub-dominating case and show that it agrees with the nucleosynthesis constraint.

On Nash theory of gravity with matter contents

Although it was proved that the Nash theory doesn't have classical Einstein limits, it has been proven to be formally divergent free and considered to be of interest in constructing theories of quantum gravity. The original Nash gravity without matter contents can't explain the current accelerated expansion of the Universe. A possible extension of theory is by adding some matter contents to the model. In this work, we generalize the Nash theory of gravity by adding the matter fields. In order to examine the effects of this generalization, we first derive the equations of motion in the flat FLRW spacetime and examine the behaviors of the solutions by invoking specific forms of the Hubble parameter. We also classify the physical behaviors of the solutions by employing the stability analysis and check the consistency of the model by considering particular cosmological parameters.

Revisiting pre-inflationary universe of family of $α-$attractor in loop quantum cosmology

In this work, we revisit the dynamics of pre-inflationary universe with a family of $α-$attractor potentials, in the framework of loop quantum cosmology, in which the big bang singularity is generically resolved purely with quantum geometric effects, and replaced by a quantum bounce. At the bounce, the background evolution is divided into two distinct classes, the first is dominated by the kinetic energy of the inflaton field and the second by the potential energy. In both classes, we find the physically viable initial conditions numerically that provide not only the slow-roll inflation, but also sufficient e-folds to be compatible with observations. In the entire range of kinetic energy dominated initial conditions (except some subsets of Models 2 and 4), the background evolution prior to reheating is always split into three different phases: bouncing, transition and slow-roll inflation. In the bouncing phase, the numerical evolution of the scale factor is independent not only of the initial data, but also the inflationary potentials, as long as it is dominated by the kinetic energy, and can be well approximated by an analytical solution, whereas in the potential energy dominated case, such approximated results do not exist. Moreover, we study the phase space analysis for a class of $α-$attractor potentials, and discuss the phase space trajectories for physically viable initial conditions of the inflaton field.

Shear-free conditions of a Chaplygin-Gas-dominated universe

In this work, we revisit the shear-free conjecture of general relativity and show the violation of the well-known shear-free condition for perfect-fluid spacetimes. It had been shown in previous investigations that, in the general relativistic framework, the matter congruences of shear-free perfect fluid spacetimes should be either expansion-free or rotation-free. Our current investigation, however, indicates that a universe dominated by a Chaplygin gas can allow a simultaneous expansion and rotation of the fluid provided that certain non-trivial conditions, which we derive and describe below, are met. We also show that, in the appropriate limiting cases, our results reduce to the expected results of dust spacetimes which can only expand or rotate, but not both, at the same time.

On gravitational wave modes in Nash theory of gravity

In this Letter, we consider original Nash theory of gravity. In terms of the scalar fields representation, Nash gravity is equivalent to the action of bi-scalar tensor gravity with four derivative terms of metric tensor. We then quantify the ghost in the theory. In order to study the gravitational wave modes of the theory, we perform a small perturbation over a fixed Minkowski background. We discover the standard wave equation and obtain the solutions as those of the standard general relativity. In order to satisfy the GR in the weak field limit, we further modify the original Nash theory by adding the Einstein-Hibert term called modified Nash gravity. In this theory, we once study the gravitational wave modes. We derive equations of motion and examine the solutions. We discover the two-mode solutions: the massless graviton and the massive one. Using a uniform prior probability on the graviton mass, we can constrain mass parameter.

Quantum Information metric for time-dependent quantum systems and higher-order corrections

It is well established that quantum criticality is one of the most intriguing phenomena which signals the presence of new states of matter. Without prior knowledge of the local order parameter, the quantum information metric (or fidelity susceptibility) can indicate the presence of a phase transition as well as it measures distance between quantum states. In this work, we calculate the distance between quantum states which is equal to the fidelity susceptibility in quantum model for a time-dependent system describing a two-level atom coupled to a time-driven external field. As inspired by the Landau-Zener quantum model, we find in the present work information metric induced by fidelity susceptibility. We, for the first time, derive a higher-order rank-3 tensor as a third-order fidelity susceptibility. Having computed quantum noise function in this simple time-dependent model we show that the noise function eternally lasts long in our model.

Quasi Regular Polyhedra and Their Duals with Coxeter Symmetries Represented by Quaternions II

In this paper we construct the quasi regular polyhedra and their duals which are the generalizations of the Archimedean and Catalan solids respectively. This work is an extension of two previous papers of ours which were based on the Archimedean and Catalan solids obtained as the orbits of the Coxeter groups . When these groups act on an arbitrary vector in 3D Euclidean space they generate the orbits corresponding to the quasi regular polyhedra. Special choices of the vectors lead to the platonic and Archimedean solids. In general, the faces of the quasi regular polyhedra consist of the equilateral triangles, squares, regular pentagons as well as rectangles, isogonal hexagons, isogonal octagons, and isogonal decagons depending on the choice of the Coxeter groups of interest. We follow the quaternionic representation of the group elements of the Coxeter groups which necessarily leads to the quaternionic representation of the vertices. We note the fact that the molecule can best be represented by a truncated icosahedron where the hexagonal faces are not regular, rather, they are isogonal hexagons where single bonds and double bonds of the carbon atoms are represented by the alternating edge lengths of isogonal hexagons.
