Low-Cost Implementation of Bilinear and Bicubic Image Interpolation for Real-Time Image Super-Resolution

Super-resolution imaging (S.R.) is a series of techniques that enhance the resolution of an imaging system, especially in surveillance cameras where simplicity and low cost are of great importance. S.R. image reconstruction can be viewed as a three-stage process: image interpolation, image registration, and fusion. Image interpolation is one of the most critical steps in the S.R. algorithms and has a significant influence on the quality of the output image. In this paper, two hardware-efficient interpolation methods are proposed for these platforms, mainly for the mobile application. Experiments and results on the synthetic and real image sequences clearly validate the performance of the proposed scheme. They indicate that the proposed approach is practically applicable to real-world applications. The algorithms are implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device using a pipelined architecture. The implementation results show the advantages of the proposed methods regarding area, performance, and output quality.

High Performance CNFET-based Ternary Full Adders

This paper investigates the use of carbon nanotube field effect transistors (CNFETs) for the design of ternary full adder cells. The proposed circuits have been designed based on the unique properties of CNFETs such as having desired threshold voltages by adjusting diameter of the CNFETs gate nanotubes. The proposed circuits are examined using HSPICE simulator with the standard 32 nm CNFET technology. The proposed methods are simulated at different conditions such as different supply voltages, different temperature and operational frequencies. Simulation results show that the proposed designs are faster than the state of the art CNFET based ternary full adders.

An efficient cntfet-based 7-input minority gate

Complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology (CMOS) has been faced critical challenges in nano-scale regime. CNTFET (Carbon Nanotube Field effect transistor) technology is a promising alternative for CMOS technology. In this paper, we proposed a novel 7-input minority gate in CNTFET technology that has only 9 CNTFETs. Minority function is utilized in the voting systems for decision making and also it is used in data mining. This proposed 7-input minority gate is utilized less fewer transistors than the conventional CMOS method which utilizes many transistors for implementing sum of products. By means of this proposed 7-input minority gate, a 4-input NAND gate can be implemented, which gets better the conventional design in terms of delay and energy efficiency and has much more deriving power at its output.

A New Full Adder Cell for Molecular Electronics

Due to high power consumption and difficulties with minimizing the CMOS transistor size, molecular electronics has been introduced as an emerging technology. Further, there have been noticeable advances in fabrication of molecular wires and switches and also molecular diodes can be used for designing different logic circuits. Considering this novel technology, we use molecules as the active components of the circuit, for transporting electric charge. In this paper, a full adder cell based on molecular electronics is presented. This full adder is consisted of resonant tunneling diodes and transistors which are implemented via molecular electronics. The area occupied by this kind of full adder would be much times smaller than the conventional designs and it can be used as the building block of more complex molecular arithmetic circuits.
