DAP: Doppler-aware Point Network for Heterogeneous mmWave Action Recognition

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar provides privacy-preserving sensing and is valuable for human action recognition (HAR). Existing mmWave point cloud datasets are limited in scale and mostly collected under homogeneous single-source settings, preventing current methods from handling real-world distribution shifts caused by heterogeneous radar sources, such as different devices and frequency bands. To address this, we introduce UniMM-HAR, the largest and first mmWave point cloud HAR dataset for heterogeneous multi-source scenarios, standardizing three distinct radar configurations to realistically evaluate cross-source generalization. We further propose the Doppler-aware Point Cloud Network (DAP-Net) to tackle heterogeneity challenges. DAP-Net enhances intra-modal representations and performs cross-modal alignment to learn source-invariant action semantics. Leveraging action-consistent spatio-temporal Doppler patterns as anchors, the Dual-space Doppler Reparameterization (D2R) module performs sample-adaptive geometric densification and Doppler-guided feature recalibration, while the Text Alignment Module (TAM) provides stable semantic anchors via a pretrained textual space. Experiments show that DAP-Net significantly outperforms existing methods under heterogeneous radar settings, achieving state-of-the-art accuracy and strong cross-source robustness.

Lens Privacy Sealing: A New Benchmark and Method for Physical Privacy-Preserving Action Recognition

RGB camera-based surveillance systems enable human action recognition for public safety and healthcare, yet raise serious privacy concerns. Existing methods rely on post-capture algorithms, which fail to protect privacy during data acquisition. We propose Lens Privacy Sealing (LPS), a simple hardware solution that physically obscures camera lenses with adjustable laminating film, providing pre-sensor privacy protection at minimal cost. Unlike software methods or expensive engineered optics, LPS achieves strong privacy through stochastic multi-layer scattering that is physically irreversible. We introduce the P$^3$AR dataset for privacy-preserving action recognition, featuring both large-scale replay-captured (P$^3$AR-NTU, 114K videos) and real-world collected (P$^3$AR-PKU) subsets with privacy attribute annotations. To handle video degradation from LPS, we propose MSPNet, a single-stage framework incorporating Inter-Frame Noise Suppressor (IFNS) and Cross-Frame Semantic Aggregator (CFSA), enhanced by contrastive language-image pre-training for robust semantic extraction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MSPNet with IFNS and CFSA nearly doubles action recognition accuracy compared to baseline methods while suppressing identity recognition to low levels. Comprehensive validation shows LPS achieves a superior privacy-utility trade-off compared to state-of-the-art hardware methods, resists reconstruction attacks including PSF inversion and data-driven recovery, and generalizes robustly across optical configurations and challenging environments. NeRF-VIO: Map-Based Visual-Inertial Odometry with Initialization Leveraging Neural Radiance Fields

A prior map serves as a foundational reference for localization in context-aware applications such as augmented reality (AR). Providing valuable contextual information about the environment, the prior map is a vital tool for mitigating drift. In this paper, we propose a map-based visual-inertial localization algorithm (NeRF-VIO) with initialization using neural radiance fields (NeRF). Our algorithm utilizes a multilayer perceptron model and redefines the loss function as the geodesic distance on \(SE(3)\), ensuring the invariance of the initialization model under a frame change within \(\mathfrak{se}(3)\). The evaluation demonstrates that our model outperforms existing NeRF-based initialization solution in both accuracy and efficiency. By integrating a two-stage update mechanism within a multi-state constraint Kalman filter (MSCKF) framework, the state of NeRF-VIO is constrained by both captured images from an onboard camera and rendered images from a pre-trained NeRF model. The proposed algorithm is validated using a real-world AR dataset, the results indicate that our two-stage update pipeline outperforms MSCKF across all data sequences.

Explore Human Parsing Modality for Action Recognition

Multimodal-based action recognition methods have achieved high success using pose and RGB modality. However, skeletons sequences lack appearance depiction and RGB images suffer irrelevant noise due to modality limitations. To address this, we introduce human parsing feature map as a novel modality, since it can selectively retain effective semantic features of the body parts, while filtering out most irrelevant noise. We propose a new dual-branch framework called Ensemble Human Parsing and Pose Network (EPP-Net), which is the first to leverage both skeletons and human parsing modalities for action recognition. The first human pose branch feeds robust skeletons in graph convolutional network to model pose features, while the second human parsing branch also leverages depictive parsing feature maps to model parsing festures via convolutional backbones. The two high-level features will be effectively combined through a late fusion strategy for better action recognition. Extensive experiments on NTU RGB+D and NTU RGB+D 120 benchmarks consistently verify the effectiveness of our proposed EPP-Net, which outperforms the existing action recognition methods. Understanding LLMs: A Comprehensive Overview from Training to Inference

The introduction of ChatGPT has led to a significant increase in the utilization of Large Language Models (LLMs) for addressing downstream tasks. There's an increasing focus on cost-efficient training and deployment within this context. Low-cost training and deployment of LLMs represent the future development trend. This paper reviews the evolution of large language model training techniques and inference deployment technologies aligned with this emerging trend. The discussion on training includes various aspects, including data preprocessing, training architecture, pre-training tasks, parallel training, and relevant content related to model fine-tuning. On the inference side, the paper covers topics such as model compression, parallel computation, memory scheduling, and structural optimization. It also explores LLMs' utilization and provides insights into their future development.

A Gated Cross-domain Collaborative Network for Underwater Object Detection

Underwater object detection (UOD) plays a significant role in aquaculture and marine environmental protection. Considering the challenges posed by low contrast and low-light conditions in underwater environments, several underwater image enhancement (UIE) methods have been proposed to improve the quality of underwater images. However, only using the enhanced images does not improve the performance of UOD, since it may unavoidably remove or alter critical patterns and details of underwater objects. In contrast, we believe that exploring the complementary information from the two domains is beneficial for UOD. The raw image preserves the natural characteristics of the scene and texture information of the objects, while the enhanced image improves the visibility of underwater objects. Based on this perspective, we propose a Gated Cross-domain Collaborative Network (GCC-Net) to address the challenges of poor visibility and low contrast in underwater environments, which comprises three dedicated components. Firstly, a real-time UIE method is employed to generate enhanced images, which can improve the visibility of objects in low-contrast areas. Secondly, a cross-domain feature interaction module is introduced to facilitate the interaction and mine complementary information between raw and enhanced image features. Thirdly, to prevent the contamination of unreliable generated results, a gated feature fusion module is proposed to adaptively control the fusion ratio of cross-domain information. Our method presents a new UOD paradigm from the perspective of cross-domain information interaction and fusion. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed GCC-Net achieves state-of-the-art performance on four underwater datasets.

Interactive Spatiotemporal Token Attention Network for Skeleton-based General Interactive Action Recognition

Recognizing interactive action plays an important role in human-robot interaction and collaboration. Previous methods use late fusion and co-attention mechanism to capture interactive relations, which have limited learning capability or inefficiency to adapt to more interacting entities. With assumption that priors of each entity are already known, they also lack evaluations on a more general setting addressing the diversity of subjects. To address these problems, we propose an Interactive Spatiotemporal Token Attention Network (ISTA-Net), which simultaneously model spatial, temporal, and interactive relations. Specifically, our network contains a tokenizer to partition Interactive Spatiotemporal Tokens (ISTs), which is a unified way to represent motions of multiple diverse entities. By extending the entity dimension, ISTs provide better interactive representations. To jointly learn along three dimensions in ISTs, multi-head self-attention blocks integrated with 3D convolutions are designed to capture inter-token correlations. When modeling correlations, a strict entity ordering is usually irrelevant for recognizing interactive actions. To this end, Entity Rearrangement is proposed to eliminate the orderliness in ISTs for interchangeable entities. Exploiting Temporal Contexts with Strided Transformer for 3D Human Pose Estimation

Despite the great progress in 3D human pose estimation from videos, it is still an open problem to take full advantage of a redundant 2D pose sequence to learn representative representations for generating one 3D pose. To this end, we propose an improved Transformer-based architecture, called Strided Transformer, which simply and effectively lifts a long sequence of 2D joint locations to a single 3D pose. Specifically, a Vanilla Transformer Encoder (VTE) is adopted to model long-range dependencies of 2D pose sequences. To reduce the redundancy of the sequence, fully-connected layers in the feed-forward network of VTE are replaced with strided convolutions to progressively shrink the sequence length and aggregate information from local contexts. The modified VTE is termed as Strided Transformer Encoder (STE), which is built upon the outputs of VTE. STE not only effectively aggregates long-range information to a single-vector representation in a hierarchical global and local fashion, but also significantly reduces the computation cost. Furthermore, a full-to-single supervision scheme is designed at both full sequence and single target frame scales applied to the outputs of VTE and STE, respectively. This scheme imposes extra temporal smoothness constraints in conjunction with the single target frame supervision and hence helps produce smoother and more accurate 3D poses. The proposed Strided Transformer is evaluated on two challenging benchmark datasets, Human3.6M and HumanEva-I, and achieves state-of-the-art results with fewer parameters. RefineDetLite: A Lightweight One-stage Object Detection Framework for CPU-only Devices

Previous state-of-the-art real-time object detectors have been reported on GPUs which are extremely expensive for processing massive data and in resource-restricted scenarios. Therefore, high efficiency object detectors on CPU-only devices are urgently-needed in industry. The floating-point operations (FLOPs) of networks are not strictly proportional to the running speed on CPU devices, which inspires the design of an exactly "fast" and "accurate" object detector. After investigating the concern gaps between classification networks and detection backbones, and following the design principles of efficient networks, we propose a lightweight residual-like backbone with large receptive fields and wide dimensions for low-level features, which are crucial for detection tasks. Correspondingly, we also design a light-head detection part to match the backbone capability. Furthermore, by analyzing the drawbacks of current one-stage detector training strategies, we also propose three orthogonal training strategies---IOU-guided loss, classes-aware weighting method and balanced multi-task training approach. Without bells and whistles, our proposed RefineDetLite achieves 26.8 mAP on the MSCOCO benchmark at a speed of 130 ms/pic on a single-thread CPU. The detection accuracy can be further increased to 29.6 mAP by integrating all the proposed training strategies, without apparent speed drop.

Self-Refining Deep Symmetry Enhanced Network for Rain Removal

Rain removal aims to remove the rain streaks on rain images. The state-of-the-art methods are mostly based on Convolutional Neural Network~(CNN). However, as CNN is not equivariant to object rotation, these methods are unsuitable for dealing with the tilted rain streaks. To tackle this problem, we propose Deep Symmetry Enhanced Network~(DSEN) that is able to explicitly extract the rotation equivariant features from rain images. In addition, we design a self-refining mechanism to remove the accumulated rain streaks in a coarse-to-fine manner. This mechanism reuses DSEN with a novel information link which passes the gradient flow to the higher stages. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world rain images show that our self-refining DSEN yields the top performance.
