Second-Chern-Einstein metrics on 4-dimensional almost-Hermitian manifolds

We study 4-dimensional second-Chern-Einstein almost-Hermitian manifolds. In the compact case, we observe that under a certain hypothesis the Riemannian dual of the Lee form is a Killing vector field. We use that observation to describe 4-dimensional compact second-Chern-Einstein locally conformally symplectic manifolds and we give some examples of such manifolds. Finally, we study the second-Chern-Einstein problem on unimodular almost-abelian Lie algebras, classifying those that admit a left-invariant second-Chern-Einstein metric with a parallel non-zero Lee form.

Seiberg-Witten invariants on manifolds with Riemannian foliations of codimension 4

We define Seiberg-Witten equations on closed manifolds endowed with a Riemannian foliation of codimension 4. When the foliation is taut, we show compactness of the moduli space under some hypothesis satisfied for instance by closed K-contact manifolds. Furthermore, we prove some vanishing and non-vanishing results and we highlight that the invariants may be used to distinguish different foliations on diffeomorphic manifolds.

An Integrability Theorem for Almost-Kähler Structures using J-anti-invariant Two-Forms on Four-Manifolds

We establish a new criterion for a compatible almost complex structure on a symplectic four-manifold to be integrable and hence Kähler. Our main theorem shows that the existence of three linearly independent closed J-anti-invariant two-forms implies the integrability of the almost complex structure. This proves the conjecture of Draghici-Li-Zhang in the almost-Kähler case

Extremal K-contact metrics

Extending a result of He to the non-integrable case of K-contact manifolds, it is shown that transverse Hermitian scalar curvature may be interpreted as a moment map for the strict contactomorphism group. As a consequence, we may generalize the Sasaki-Futaki invariant to K-contact geometry and establish a number of elementary properties. Moreover, we prove that in dimension 5 certain deformation-theoretic results can be established also under weaker integrability conditions by exploiting the relationship between J-anti-invariant and self-dual 2-forms.

Stability under deformations of Hermite-Einstein almost-Kähler metrics

On a 4-dimensional compact symplectic manifold, we consider a smooth family of compatible almost-complex structures such that at time zero the induced metric is Hermite-Einstein almost-Kähler metric with zero or negative Hermitian scalar curvature. We prove, under certain hypothesis, the existence of a smooth family of compatible almost-complex structures, diffeomorphic at each time to the initial family, and inducing constant Hermitian scalar curvature metrics.

Extremal almost-Kähler metrics

We generalize the notions of the Futaki invariant and extremal vector field of a compact Kähler manifold to the general almost-Kahler case and show the periodicity of the extremal vector field when the symplectic form represents an integral cohomology class modulo torsion. We also give an explicit formula of the hermitian scalar curvature in Darboux coordinates which allows us to obtain examples of non-integrable extremal almost-Kähler metrics saturating LeBrun's estimates.

Stability under deformations of extremal almost-Kähler metrics in dimension 4

Given a path of almost-Kähler metrics compatible with a fixed symplectic form on a compact 4-manifold such that at time zero the almost-Kähler metric is an extremal Kähler one, we prove, for a short time and under a certain hypothesis, the existence of a smooth family of extremal almost-Kähler metrics compatible with the same symplectic form, such that at each time the induced almost-complex structure is diffeomorphic to the one induced by the path.
