We show that four Lax-integrable 3D differential equations are related via Bäcklund transformations.
B.A. Dubrovin proved that remarkable WDVV associativity equations are integrable systems. In a simplest nontrivial three-component case these equations can be written as a nondiagonalizable hydrodynamic type system equivalent to a symmetric reduction of the three wave interaction and to the matrix Hopf equation. Then E.V. Ferapontov and O.I. Mokhov found a local Hamiltonian structure. Finally E.V. Ferapontov, C.A.P. Galvão, O.I. Mokhov, Ya. Nutku found a second local Hamiltonian structure. Both local Hamiltonian structure are homogeneous of first and third order (respectively) of Dubrovin--Novikov type. In our paper we suggest a special scaling procedure for independent variables applicable for homogeneous nonlinear PDE's, which allows to incorporate an auxiliary parameter $ε$, such that a corresponding \textquotedblleft intermediate\textquotedblright\ system possesses two remarkable limits: a high-frequency limit ($ε\rightarrow \infty $) back to the original system and a dispersionless limit ($ε\rightarrow 0$) which yields diagonalizable integrable hydrodynamic type system. This means that our procedure allows to transform a homogeneous third order local Hamiltonian structure to non-homogeneous of third order. Thus we create an integrable hierarchy equipped by a pair of local Hamiltonian structures, which (both of them) possess a dispersionless limit. Also we show that this bi-Hamiltonian diagonalizable hydrodynamic type system possesses at least two different dispersive integrable extensions (in a framework of B.A. Dubrovin's approach)
In this paper we construct multiparametric families of two dimensional metrics with polynomial first integral. Such integrable geodesic flows are described by solutions of some semi-Hamiltonian hydrodynamic type system. We find infinitely many conservation laws and commuting flows for this system. This procedure allows us to present infinitely many particular metrics by the generalized hodograph method.
In this paper the two-dimensional Benney system describing long wave propagation of a finite depth fluid motion and the multi-dimensional Russo--Smereka kinetic equation describing a bubbly flow are considered. The Hamiltonian approach established by J. Gibbons for one-dimensional Vlasov kinetic equation is extended to a multi-dimensional case. A local Hamiltonian structure associated with the hydrodynamic lattice of moments derived by D.J. Benney is constructed. A relationship between this hydrodynamic lattice of moments and the two-dimensional Vlasov kinetic equation is found. In the two-dimensional case a Hamiltonian hydrodynamic lattice for the Russo--Smereka kinetic model is constructed. Simple hydrodynamic reductions are presented.
In this paper we consider integrable dispersive chains associated with the so called Energy Dependent Schrodinger operator. In a general case multi component reductions of these dispersive chains are new integrable systems, which are characterised by two arbitrary natural numbers. Also we show that integrable three dimensional linearly degenerate quasilinear equations of a second order possess infinitely many differential constraints. Corresponding dispersive reductions are integrable systems associated with the Energy Dependent Schrodinger operator.
The Loewner equation is known as a one-dimensional reduction of the Benney chain as well as the dispersionless KP hierarchy. We propose a reverse process showing that time splitting in the Loewner or the Loewner-Kufarev equation leads to some known integrable systems.
We investigate homogeneous third-order Hamiltonian operators of differential-geometric type. Based on the correspondence with quadratic line complexes, a complete list of such operators for two and three components is obtained.
The one-dimension Russo--Smereka kinetic equation describing the propagation of nonlinear concentration waves in a rarefied bubbly fluid is considered. Reductions of the model to finite component systems are derived. Stability of the bubbly flow in terms of hyperbolicity of the kinetic equation is studied. Conservation form of the model is proposed and numerical solution of the Cauchy problem with discontinuous initial data is obtained.
We consider non-stationary dynamical systems with one-and-a-half degrees of freedom. We are interested in algorithmic construction of rich classes of Hamilton's equations with the Hamiltonian H=p^2/2+V(x,t) which are Liouville integrable. For this purpose we use the method of hydrodynamic reductions of the corresponding one-dimensional Vlasov kinetic equation. Also we present several examples of such systems with first integrals with non-polynomial dependencies w.r.t. to momentum. The constructed in this paper classes of potential functions {$V(x,t)$} which give integrable systems with one-and-a-half degrees of freedom are parameterized by arbitrary number of constants.
In this paper we found a Lagrangian representation and corresponding Hamiltonian structure for the constant astigmatism equation. Utilizing this Hamiltonian structure and extra conservation law densities we construct a first evolution commuting flow of the third order. Also, we apply the recursion operator and present a second Hamiltonian structure. This bi-Hamiltonian structure allows to replicate infinitely many local commuting flows and corresponding local conservation law densities.
In this paper we present a new solution for the Constant Astigmatism equation. This solution is parameterized by an arbitrary function of a single variable.
A differential-algebraic approach to studying the Lax type integrability of the generalized Riemann type hydrodynamic hierarchy is revisited, its new Lax type representation and Poisson structures constructed in exact form. The related bi-Hamiltonian integrability and compatible Poissonian structures of the generalized Riemann type hierarchy are also discussed.
We derive generalised multi-flow hydrodynamic reductions of the nonlocal kinetic equation for a soliton gas and investigate their structure. These reductions not only provide further insight into the properties of the new kinetic equation but also could prove to be representatives of a novel class of integrable systems of hydrodynamic type, beyond the conventional semi-Hamiltonian framework.
We find auto-Backlund transformation for the r-th double modified dispersionless Kadomtsev--Petviashvili equation.
A differential-algebraic approach to studying the Lax type integrability of the generalized Riemann type hydrodynamic equations at N = 3; 4 is devised. The approach is also applied to studying the Lax type integrability of the well known Korteweg-de Vries dynamical system.
This paper is devoted to a description of integrable Hamiltonian hydrodynamic chains associated with Dorfman Poisson brackets. Three main classes of these hydrodynamic chains are selected. Generating functions of conservation laws and commuting flows are found. Hierarchies of these Hamiltonian hydrodynamic chains are extended on negative moments and negative time variables. Corresponding three dimensional quasilinear equations of the second order are presented.
Short-wave perturbations in a relaxing medium, governed by a special reduction of the Ostrovsky evolution equation, and later derived by Whitham, are studied using the gradient-holonomic integrability algorithm. The bi-Hamiltonicity and complete integrability of the corresponding dynamical system is stated and an infinite hierarchy of commuting to each other conservation laws of dispersive type are found. The well defined regularization of the model is constructed and its Lax type integrability is discussed. A generalized hydrodynamical Riemann type system is considered, infinite hierarchies of conservation laws, related compatible Poisson structures and a Lax type representation for the special case N=3 are constructed.
New extra series of conserved densities for the polytropic gas model and nonlinear elasticity equation are obtained without any references to the recursion operator or to the Lax operator formalism. Our method based on the utilization of the symmetry operators and allows us to obtain the densities of arbitrary homogenuity dimensions. The nonpolynomial densities with logarithmics behaviour are presented as an example. The special attention is paid for the singular case $(γ=1)$ for which we found new non homogenious solutions expressed in terms of the elementary functions.
