Complex supermanifolds of low odd dimension and the example of the complex projective line

Complex supermanifold structures being deformations of the exterior algebra of a holomorphic vector bundle, have been parametrized by orbits of a group on non-abelian cohomology by P. Green. For the case of odd dimension $4$ and $5$ an identification of these cohomologies with a subset of abelian cohomologies being computable with less effort, is provided in this article. Furthermore for a rank $\leq 3$ sub vector bundle $F\to M$ of a holomorphic vector bundle $E=F\oplus F^\prime\to M$, a reduction of a (possibly non-split) supermanifold structure associated with $ΛE$ to a structure associated with $ΛF$ is defined. In the case of $rk(F^\prime)\leq 2$ with no global derivations increasing the $\mathbb Z$-degree by $2$, the complete cohomological information of a supermanifold structure associated with $E$ is given in terms of cohomologies compatible with the decomposition of $E$. Details on supermanifold structures of odd dimension 3 and 4 associated with sums of line bundles of sufficient negativity on $\mathbb P^1(\mathbb C)$ are deduced.

Complex supermanifolds of odd dimension beyond 5

Any non-split complex supermanifold is a deformation of a split supermanifold. These deformations are classified by group orbits in a non-abelian cohomology. For the case of a split supermanifold with no global nilpotent even vector fields, an injection of this non-abelian cohomology into an abelian cohomology is constructed. The cochains in the non-abelian complex appear as exponentials of cochains of nilpotent even derivations. Necessary conditions for a recursive construction of these cochains of derivations are analyzed up to terms of degree six. Results on classes of examples of supermanifolds of odd dimension up to 7 are deduced.

Complex supermanifolds with many unipotent automorphisms

An automorphism on a complex supermanifold $\mathcal M$ is called unipotent if it reduces to the identity on the associated graded supermanifold $gr(\mathcal M)$. These automorphisms are close to be complementary to those responsible for homogeneity of a supermanifold. In analogy, their study yields results on the classification of supermanifolds. Unipotent automorphisms are induced by even global degree increasing vector fields $X\in \mathcal V_{\mathcal M,\bar 0}^{(2)}$. Plenitude of unipotent automorphisms is understood as follows: the presheaf of common kernels of the operators $[X,\cdot]$ for $X\in \mathcal V_{\mathcal M,\bar 0}^{(2)}$, on superderivations vanishes up to errors of a fixed degree $t$ and higher. The isomorphy class of such strictly $t$-nildominated supermanifolds is determined up to errors of degree $t$ and higher by $\mathcal V_{\mathcal M,\bar 0}^{(2)}$ and $gr(\mathcal M)$. An example shows that a strictly $t$-nildominated supermanifold can be non-split, deformed already in degrees lower than $t$.

Automorphism groups of compact complex supermanifolds

Let $\mathcal M$ be a compact complex supermanifold. We prove that the set $\mathrm{Aut}_{\bar 0}(\mathcal M)$ of automorphisms of $\mathcal M$ can be endowed with the structure of a complex Lie group acting holomorphically on $\mathcal M$, so that its Lie algebra is isomorphic to the Lie algebra of even holomorphic super vector fields on $\mathcal M$. Moreover, we prove the existence of a complex Lie supergroup $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal M)$ acting holomorphically on $\mathcal M$ and satisfying a universal property. Its underlying Lie group is $\mathrm{Aut}_{\bar 0}(\mathcal M)$ and its Lie superalgebra is the Lie superalgebra of holomorphic super vector fields on $\mathcal M$. This generalizes the classical theorem by Bochner and Montgomery that the automorphism group of a compact complex manifold is a complex Lie group. Some examples of automorphism groups of complex supermanifolds over $\mathbb P_1(\mathbb C)$ are provided.

Non-split almost complex and non-split Riemannian supermanifolds

Non-split almost complex supermanifolds and non-split Riemannian supermanifolds are studied. The first obstacle for a splitting is parametrized by group orbits on an infinite dimensional vector space. Further it is shown that non-split structures appear in the first case as deformations of a split reduction and in the second case as the deformation of an underlying metric. In contrast to non-split deformations of complex supermanifolds, these deformations can be restricted by cut-off functions to local deformations. A class of examples of nowhere split structures constructed from almost complex manifolds of dimension 6 and higher, is provided for both cases.

A lossless reduction of geodesics on supermanifolds to non-graded differential geometry

Let $\mathcal M= (M,\mathcal O_\mathcal M)$ be a smooth supermanifold with connection $\nabla$ and Batchelor model $\mathcal O_\mathcal M\congΓ_{ΛE^\ast}$. From $(\mathcal M,\nabla)$ we construct a connection on the total space of the vector bundle $E\to{M}$. This reduction of $\nabla$ is well-defined independently of the isomorphism $\mathcal O_\mathcal M \cong Γ_{ΛE^\ast}$. It erases information, but however it turns out that the natural identification of supercurves in $\mathcal M$ (as maps from $ \mathbb R^{1|1}$ to $\mathcal M$) with curves in $E$ restricts to a 1 to 1 correspondence on geodesics. This bijection is induced by a natural identification of initial conditions for geodesics on $\mathcal M$, resp. $E$. Furthermore a Riemannian metric on $\mathcal M$ reduces to a symmetric bilinear form on the manifold $E$. Provided that the connection on $\mathcal M$ is compatible with the metric, resp. torsion free, the reduced connection on $E$ inherits these properties. For an odd metric, the reduction of a Levi-Civita connection on $\mathcal M$ turns out to be a Levi-Civita connection on $E$.

Almost complex structures on real Lie supergroups

A complex Lie supergroup can be described as a real Lie supergroup with integrable almost complex structure. The necessary and sufficient conditions on an almost complex structure on a real Lie supergroup for defining a complex Lie supergroup are deduced. The classification of real Lie supergroups with such almost complex structures yields a new approach to the known classification of complex Lie supergroups by complex Harish-Chandra superpairs. A universal complexification of a real Lie supergroup is constructed.

Non-integrable supersymmetries and their classification for $\mathfrak{gl}(1,1)$ and $\mathfrak{sl}(1,1)$

Infinitesimal supersymmetries over classical Lie groups that do not necessarily integrate to Lie supergroups are described. They yield a notion of supersymmetry that is less rigid than the assumption of a Lie supergroup action but still implies an underlying action of a Lie group. In contrast to Lie supergroups, the arising representation-theoretical Lie supergroups (RTLSG) occur as families associated to Harish-Chandra superpairs. However morphisms of RTLSGs directly correspond to morphisms of Harish-Chandra superpairs. Particular RTLSGs can be derived from the explicit constructions of Lie supergroups given by Berezin and Kostant. The Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{gl}(1,1)$ or $\mathfrak{sl}(1,1)$ appearing also in higher dimensional classical Lie superalgebras, provide interesting first examples of RTLSGs. A classification of RTLSGs associated to real and complex $\mathfrak{gl}(1,1)$- and $\mathfrak{sl}(1,1)$-Harish-Chandra superpairs is given by parameter spaces and complete sets of invariants. The underlying Lie group is assumed to be connected but possibly not simply connected.

A numerical algorithm for the explicit calculation of SU(N) and SL(N,C) Clebsch-Gordan coefficients

We present an algorithm for the explicit numerical calculation of SU(N) and SL(N,C) Clebsch-Gordan coefficients, based on the Gelfand-Tsetlin pattern calculus. Our algorithm is well-suited for numerical implementation; we include a computer code in an appendix. Our exposition presumes only familiarity with the representation theory of SU(2).

Selected results on Lie supergroups and their radial operators

Foundational material on complex Lie supergroups and their radial operators is presented. In particular, Berezin's recursion formula for describing the radial parts of fundamental operators in general linear and ortho-symplectic cases is proved. Local versions of results which are suitable for applications for computing characters which are only defined on proper subdomains or covering spaces thereof are established.
