Extending the Analysis of Electroweak Precision Constraints in Composite Higgs Models

In this paper we present a detailed analysis of the Electroweak Precision Observables (EWPO) in composite Higgs models based on the coset $SO(5)/SO(4)$. In our study we include both the fermionic top partners and the spin-1 resonances and consider their possible interplay as well. In order to achieve calculability we use the assumptions of i) partial Ultra Violet Completion (PUVC) following arXiv:1109.1570 and, ii) absence of sizeable effects from physics above the cut-off. Apart from the EWPO, we also take into account the constraints from the top quark, $Z$ and the Higgs boson masses whenever they can be predicted in terms of the model parameters. After presenting our analytic results (often, in certain limits) and discussing their symmetry properties, we also perform detailed fits of the model parameters following the Bayesian approach. We show the posterior probability distributions of the parameters in various scenarios and provide with analytic understanding whenever possible. We find that in certain cases the EWPO allow the compositeness scale to lie well below $1$ TeV. Moreover, fermionic top partners of mass around $1$ TeV and spin-1 resonances of mass around $2-3$ TeV are consistent with the precision data.

One-loop effects from spin-1 resonances in Composite Higgs models

We compute the 1-loop correction to the electroweak observables from spin-1 resonances in SO(5)/SO(4) composite Higgs models. The strong dynamics is modeled with an effective description comprising the Nambu-Goldstone bosons and the lowest-lying spin-1 resonances. A classification is performed of the relevant operators including custodially-breaking effects from the gauging of hypercharge. The 1-loop contribution of the resonances is extracted in a diagrammatic approach by matching to the low-energy theory of Nambu-Goldstone bosons. We find that the correction is numerically important in a significant fraction of the parameter space and tends to weaken the bounds providing a negative shift to the S parameter.

Boosting Top Partner Searches in Composite Higgs Models

Fermionic third generation top partners are generic in composite Higgs models. They are likely to decay into third generation quarks and electroweak bosons. We propose a novel cut-and-count-style analysis in which we cross correlate the model-dependent single and model-independent pair production processes for the top partners $X_{5/3}$ and $B$. In the class of composite Higgs models we study, $X_{5/3}$ is very special as it is the lightest exotic fermion. A constraint on the mass of $X_{5/3}$ directly extends to constrains on all top partner masses. By combining jet substructure methods with conventional reconstruction techniques we show that in this kind of final state a smooth interpolation between the boosted and unboosted regime is possible. We find that a reinterpretation of existing searches can improve bounds on the parameter space of composite Higgs models. Further, at 8 TeV a combined search for $X_{5/3}$ and $B$ in the $l+\rm{jets}$ final state can be more sensitive than a search involving same-sign dileptons.
