Leptogenesis from a feebly interacting dark matter sector

We perform an analysis of leptogenesis in the context of a simple extension of the Standard Model by two fermions; one charged ($χ$) and one neutral ($ψ$), in addition to three right-handed neutrinos, $N_i$, interacting through a charged gauge singlet scalar $S$. The dark sector ($χ$, $ψ$ and $S$) interacts feebly and produces a relic density consistent with measurements. The decay of right-handed neutrinos into the charged scalar $S$ and lepton provides an additional source of CP asymmetry, along with contributing through the virtual exchange of $S$ in the standard decay channel. With this the out-of-equilibrium decay of right-handed neutrinos, combined with lepton number changing scattering processes can generate the required baryon asymmetry of the universe even for right-handed neutrino masses in 10 TeV region, without requiring neutrinos to have degenerate masses.

Restricting the parameter space of Type-II Two Higgs Doublet Models with CP violation

We explore the parameter space of the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model with softly broken Z2 symmetry, allowing for CP violation in the scalar potential. Imposing theory-motivated and experimentally-driven constraints, we show that as the CP-violating phases are increased, only small regions of parameter space survive, including regions slightly away from the alignment limit. Electroweak oblique parameters and electric dipole moments emerge as most restrictive constraints. We show that imposing these constraints (as well as theoretical bounds such as perturbativity) the masses of the charged and heavy neutral Higgs, unlike in the CP conserving case, are bound from above and below. In particular, the heavy neutral Higgs masses are almost degenerate. In this parameter space region we highlight the relevant decay signals of the heavy neutral Higgs, involving both Zh and WW=ZZ, indicative of CP violation in the model.

Vacuum Structure of Alternative Left-Right Model

We investigate an Alternative Left-Right Model (ALRM) with $SU(2)_L$ as well as $SU(2)_R$ gauge groups, but unlike the traditional left-right symmetric models (LRSM) is not symmetric under the exchange of the fermion content. Interestingly, it can be embedded in $E_6$, while its low energy Higgs structure resembles the LRSM, involving Higgs doublets $χ_{L,R}$ and one Higgs bidoublet $Φ$. We analyze the scalar potential and the vacuum structure of the theory analytically to ensure the stability of scalar potential via bounded from below (BFB) and copositivity criteria, accompanied by a numerical study. We establish the necessary criteria for electric charge preserving vacua, yielding constraints on various coupling parameters of the theory. Finally we obtain constraints on the parameters of the model from collider data on the masses of the Higgs scalars.

Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment in Two Higgs Doublet Models with Vector-Like Leptons

We show that inclusion of a single generation of vector-like leptons in the Two-Higgs Doublet Models significantly enlarges the allowed parameter space consistent with the muon anomalous magnetic moment, as well as with other theoretical and experimental constraints. While previously $(g -2)_μ$ could only be resolved in Type-X scenario by requiring a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson and large $\tan β$, contributions of vector-like leptons via two-loop Barr Zee diagrams broaden the allowed parameter space, allowing $\tan β$ as low as 10 and pseudoscalar masses as large as $\cal{O}$(1 TeV) while fulfilling the stringent constraints from precision and flavor observable. Similar results are obtained for Type-II scenarios, but there the parameter space is more restricted by flavor observables.

$E_6$ Motivated UMSSM Confronts Experimental Data

We test $E_6$ realisations of a generic $U(1)'$ extended Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (UMSSM), parametrised in terms of the mixing angle pertaining to the new $U(1)'$ sector, $θ_{E_6}$, against all currently available data, from space to ground experiments, from low to high energies. We find that experimental constraints are very restrictive and indicate that large gauge kinetic mixing and $θ_{E_6}\approx -π/3$ are required within this theoretical construct to achieve compliance with current data. The consequences are twofold. On the one hand, large gauge kinetic mixing implies that the $Z'$ boson emerging from the breaking of the additional $U(1)'$ symmetry is rather wide since it decays mainly into $WW$ pairs. On the other hand, the preferred $θ_{E_6}$ value calls for a rather specific $E_6$ breaking pattern different from those commonly studied. We finally delineate potential signatures of the emerging UMSSM scenario in both Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and in Dark Matter (DM) experiments.

Natural dark matter and light bosons with an alternative left-right symmetry

We perform a consistent analysis of the alternative left-right symmetric model emerging from $E_6$ grand unification. We include a large set of theoretical and experimental constraints, with a particular emphasis on dark matter observables and collider signals. We show that the exotic neutrino inherent to this class of models, the scotino, is a viable candidate for dark matter satisfying relic density and direct detection constraints. This has strong implications on the scotino mass restricting it to lie in a narrow window, as well as on the spectrum of Higgs bosons, rendering it predictable, with a few light scalar, pseudoscalar and charged states. Moreover, we also show that the extra charged $W'$ gauge boson can be light, and investigate the most promising signals at the future high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC. Our findings show that the most optimistic cosmologically-favoured scenarios should be observable at $5σ$, whilst others could leave visible hints provided the background is under good control at the systematical level.

Reinterpreting the results of the LHC with MadAnalysis 5: uncertainties and higher-luminosity estimates

The MadAnalysis 5 framework can be used to assess the potential of various LHC analyses for unravelling any specific new physics signal. We present an extension of the LHC reinterpretation capabilities of the programme allowing for the inclusion of theoretical and systematical uncertainties on the signal in the reinterpretation procedure. We have implemented extra methods dedicated to the extrapolation of the impact of a given analysis to higher luminosities, including various options for the treatment of the errors. As an application, we study three classes of new physics models. We first focus on a simplified model in which the Standard Model is supplemented by a gluino and a neutralino. We show that uncertainties could in particular degrade the bounds by several hundreds of GeV when considering 3000 fb$^{-1}$ of future LHC data. We next investigate another supersymmetry-inspired simplified model, in which the Standard Model is extended by a first generation squark species and a neutralino. We reach similar conclusions. Finally, we study a class of s-channel dark matter setups and compare the expectation for two types of scenarios differing in the details of the implementation of the mediation between the dark and Standard Model sectors.

Searching for Heavy Neutrinos with the MoEDAL-MAPP Detector at the LHC

We present a strategy for searching for heavy neutrinos at the Large Hadron Collider using the MoEDAL Experiment's MAPP detector. We hypothesize the heavy neutrino to be a member of a fourth generation lepton doublet, with the electric dipole moment (EDM) introduced within a dimension-five operator. In this model the heavy neutrino is produced in association with a heavy lepton. According to our current experimental and theoretical understanding, the electric dipole moment of this heavy neutrino may be as high as $10^{-15}$ $e$ cm. Taking advantage of the sensitivity of MoEDAL detector, we examine the possibility of detecting such a heavy neutrino in the MAPP as an apparently fractionally charged particle, via ionization due to the neutrino's EDM.

The left-right supersymmetric option at a high-energy upgrade of the LHC

We investigate the possibility that a minimal realization of left-right supersymmetry can be reachable at a high-energy upgrade of the LHC, expected to operate at a center-of-mass energy of 27 TeV. This minimal scenario has a relatively light $SU(2)_R$ doubly-charged Higgs boson, which could decay dominantly into tau-lepton pairs. We explore the associated signals comprised of at least three hadronically-decaying taus, or with at least two hadronic taus and one same-sign-same-flavor charged lepton pair. Our analysis shows that the former signature is challenging to use for getting handles on the signal due to the large corresponding background, and that the latter one can lead to a handful of new physics events in an almost background-free environment. We however find that a signal comprised of three hadronically-decaying tau leptons is likely to be observed at a low luminosity of proton-proton collisions at a 27 TeV upgrade of the LHC.

Flavor-changing decays of the top quark in 5D warped models

We study flavor changing neutral current decays of the top quark in the context of general warped extra dimensions, where the five dimensional metric is slightly modified from 5D anti-de-Sitter (AdS$_5$). These models address the Planck-electroweak hierarchies of the Standard Model $and$ can obey all the low energy flavor bounds and electroweak precision tests, while allowing the scale of new physics to be at the TeV level, and thus within the reach of the LHC at Run II. We perform the calculation of these exotic top decay rates for the case of a bulk Higgs, and thus include in particular the effect of the additional Kaluza-Klein (KK) Higgs modes running in the loops, along with the usual KK fermions and KK gluons.

Higgs boson production and decay in 5D warped models

We calculate the production and decay rates of the Higgs boson at the LHC in the context of general 5 dimensional (5D) warped scenarios with a spacetime background modified from the usual $AdS_5$, with SM fields propagating in the bulk. We extend previous work by considering the full flavor structure of the SM, and thus including all possible flavor effects coming from mixings with heavy fermions. We proceed in three different ways, first by only including two complete Kaluza-Klein (KK) levels ($15\times15$ fermion mass matrices), then including three complete KK levels ($21\times21$ fermion mass matrices) and finally we compare with the effect of including the infinite (full) KK towers. We present numerical results for the Higgs production cross section via gluon fusion and Higgs decay branching fractions in both the modified metric scenario and in the usual Randall-Sundrum metric scenario.

Probing Higgs-radion mixing in warped models through complementary searches at the LHC and the ILC

We consider the Higgs-radion mixing in the context of warped space extra dimensional models with custodial symmetry and investigate the prospects of detecting the mixed radion. Custodial symmetries allow the Kaluza-Klein excitations to be lighter, and protect Zbb to be in agreement with experimental constraints. We perform a complementary study of discovery reaches of the Higgs-radion mixed state at the 13 and 14 TeV LHC and at the 500 and 1000 GeV ILC. We carry out a comprehensive analysis of the most significant production and decay modes of the mixed radion in the 80 GeV - 1 TeV mass range, and indicate the parameter space that can be probed at the LHC and the ILC. There exists a region of the parameter space which can be probed, at the LHC, through the diphoton channel even for a relatively low luminosity of 50 fb^{-1}. The reach of the 4-lepton final state, in probing the parameter space is also studied in the context of 14 TeV LHC, for a luminosity of 1000 fb^{-1}. At the ILC, with an integrated luminosity of 500 fb^{-1}, we analyze the Z-radion associated production and the WW fusion production, followed by the radion decay into bb and W+W-. The WW fusion production is favored over the Z-radion associated channel in probing regions of the parameter space beyond the LHC reach. The complementary study at the LHC and the ILC is useful both for the discovery of the radion and the understanding of its mixing sector.

Dark Matter in the Higgs Triplet Model

The inability to predict neutrino masses and the existence of the dark matter are two essential shortcomings of the Standard Model. The Higgs Triplet Model provides an elegant resolution of neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism. We show here that introducing vectorlike leptons in the model also provides a resolution to the problem of dark matter. We investigate constraints, including the invisible decay width of the Higgs boson and the electroweak precision variables, and impose restrictions on model parameters. We analyze the effect of the relic density constraint on the mass and Yukawa coupling of dark matter. We also calculate the cross sections for indirect and direct dark matter detection and show our model predictions for the neutrino and muon fluxes from the Sun, and the restrictions they impose on the parameter space. With the addition of vectorlike leptons, the model is completely consistent with dark matter constraints, in addition to improving electroweak precision and doubly charged mass restrictions, which are rendered consistent with present experimental data.

Fermion Masses and Mixing in General Warped Extra Dimensional Models

We analyze fermion masses and mixing in a general warped extra dimensional model, where all the Standard Model (SM) fields, including the Higgs, are allowed to propagate in the bulk. In this context, a slightly broken flavor symmetry imposed universally on all fermion fields, without distinction, can generate the full flavor structure of the SM, including quarks, charged leptons and neutrinos. For quarks and charged leptons, the exponential sensitivity of their wave-functions to small flavor breaking effects yield naturally hierarchical masses and mixing as it is usual in warped models with fermions in the bulk. In the neutrino sector, the exponential wave-function factors can be flavor-blind and thus insensitive to the small flavor symmetry breaking effects, directly linking their masses and mixing angles to the flavor symmetric structure of the 5D neutrino Yukawa couplings. The Higgs must be localized in the bulk and the model is naturally more successful in generalized warped scenarios where the metric background solution is different than $AdS_5$. We study these features in two simple frameworks, flavor complimentarily, and flavor democracy, which provide specific predictions and correlations between quarks and leptons, testable as more precise data in the neutrino sector becomes available.

Neutrino Dark Matter in the Higgs Triplet Model

We analyze the effects of introducing vector-like leptons in the Higgs Triplet Model providing the lightest vector-like neutrino as a Dark Matter candidate. We explore the effect of the relic density constraint on the mass and Yukawa coupling of dark matter, as well as calculate the cross sections for indirect and direct dark matter detection. We show our model predictions for the neutrino and muon fluxes from the Sun, and the restrictions they impose on the parameter space. We show that this model, with a restricted parameter space, is completely consistent with dark matter constraints, and indicate the resulting mass region for the dark matter.

Probing the light radion through diphotons at the Large Hadron Collider

A radion in a scenario with a warped extra dimension can be lighter than the Higgs boson, even if the Kaluza-Klein excitation modes of the graviton turn out to be in the multi-TeV region. The discovery of such a light radion would be gateway to new physics. We show how the two-photon mode of decay can enable us to probe a radion in the mass range 60 - 110 GeV. We take into account the diphoton background, including fragmentation effects, and include cuts designed to suppress the background to the maximum possible extent. Our conclusion is that, with an integrated luminosity of 3000 $\rm fb^{-1}$ or less, the next run of the Large Hadron Collider should be able to detect a radion in this mass range, with a significance of 5 standard deviations or more.

Dark Matter from Conformal Sectors

We show that a conformal-invariant dark sector, interacting conformally with the Standard Model (SM) fields through the Higgs portal, provides a viable framework where cold dark matter (CDM) and invisible Higgs decays can be addressed concurrently. Conformal symmetry naturally subsumes the Z_2 symmetry needed for stability of the CDM. It also guarantees that the weaker the couplings of the dark sector fields to the SM Higgs field, the smaller the masses they acquire through elektroweak breaking. The model comfortably satisfies the bounds from Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and Planck Space Telescope (Planck 2013).

Higgs data confronts Sequential Fourth Generation Fermions in the Higgs Triplet Model

We investigate the effect of introducing a sequential generation of chiral fermions in the Higgs Triplet Model with nontrivial mixing between the doublet and triplet Higgs. We use the available LHC data for Higgs boson production and decay rates, the constraints on the fourth generation masses, and impose electroweak precision constraints from the S, T and U parameters. Our analysis shows that an SM-like Higgs boson state at ~125 GeV can be accommodated in the Higgs Triplet Model with four generations, and thus, that four generations survive collider and electroweak precision constraints in models beyond SM.

Left-right supersymmetry after the Higgs boson discovery

We perform a thorough analysis of the parameter space of the minimal left-right supersymmetric model in agreement with the LHC data. The model contains left- and right-handed fermionic doublets, two Higgs bidoublets, two Higgs triplet representations, and one singlet, insuring a charge-conserving vacuum. We impose the condition that the model complies with the experimental constraints on supersymmetric particles masses and on the doubly-charged Higgs bosons, and require that the parameter space of the model satisfy the LHC data on neutral Higgs signal strengths at $2σ$. We choose benchmark scenarios by fixing some basic parameters and scanning over the rest. The LSP in our scenarios is always the lightest neutralino. We find that the signals for $H\to γγ$ and $H \to VV^\star$ are correlated, while $H \to b \bar b$ is anti-correlated with all the other decay modes, and also that the contribution from singly-charged scalars dominate that of the doubly-charged scalars in $H\to γγ$ and $H \to Zγ$ loops, contrary to Type-II seesaw models. We also illustrate the range for mass spectrum of the LRSUSY model in light of planned measurements of the branching ratio of $H\to γγ$ to 10% level.

Light Neutralino Dark Matter in $U(1)^\prime$ models

We analyze the prospects for light neutralino dark matter in the minimal supersymmetric model extended by a $U(1)$ gauge group. We allow the neutralino to be an arbitrary admixture of singlet and doublet higgsinos, as well as of the three gauginos, and we require agreement with the data from the direct and indirect dark matter detection experiments, while maintaining consistency of the model with the relic density and with the recent Higgs data from the LHC. The constraints have implications for the structure of the lightest neutralino as a dark matter candidate, indicating that it is largely singlino, and its mass can be as light as $\sim 20 $ GeV.

Unified Flavor Symmetry from warped dimensions

We propose a scenario which accommodates all the masses and mixings of the SM fermions in a model of warped extra-dimensions with all matter fields in the bulk. In this scenario, the same flavor symmetric structure is imposed on all the fermions of the Standard Model (SM), including neutrinos. Due to the exponential sensitivity on bulk fermion masses, a small breaking of the symmetry can be greatly enhanced and produce seemingly un-symmetric hierarchical masses and small mixing angles among the charged fermion zero-modes (SM quarks and charged leptons) and wash-out the obvious effects of the symmetry. With the Higgs field leaking into the bulk, and Dirac neutrinos sufficiently localized towards the UV boundary, the neutrino mass hierarchy and flavor structure will still be largely dominated by the fundamental flavor structure. The neutrino sector would then reflect the fundamental flavor structure, whereas the quark sector would probe the effects of the flavor symmetry breaking sector. As an example, we explore these features in the context of a family permutation symmetry imposed in both quark and lepton sectors.

Vector Quarks in the Higgs Triplet Model

We analyze the effects of introducing vector fermions in the Higgs Triplet Model. In this scenario, the model contains, in addition to the Standard Model particle content, one triplet Higgs representation, and a variety of vector-like fermion states, including singlet, doublet, and triplet states. We investigate the electroweak precision variables and impose restrictions on model parameters. We show that, for some representations, introducing vector quarks significantly alters the constraints on the mass of the doubly charged Higgs boson, bringing it in closer agreement with experimental constraints. We also study the effects of introducing the vector-like fermions on neutral Higgs phenomenology, in particular on the loop-dominated decays H -> gamma gamma and H -> Z gamma, and the restrictions they impose on the parameter space.

Chargino and neutralino production at the Large Hadron Collider in left-right supersymmetric models

We present a complete and extensive analysis of associated chargino and neutralino production in the framework of a supersymmetric theory augmented by left-right symmetry. This model provides additional gaugino and higgsino states in both the neutral and charged sectors, thus potentially enhancing new physics signals at the LHC. For a choice of benchmark scenarios, we calculate cross sections for 7, 8 and 14 TeV. We then simulate events expected to be produced at the LHC, and classify them according to the number of leptons in the final state. We devise methods to reduce the background and compare the signals with consistently simulated events for the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We pinpoint promising scenarios where left-right symmetric supersymmetric signals can be distinguished both from background and from the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model events.

Doubly-charged particles at the Large Hadron Collider

In this work we investigate the production and signatures of doubly-charged particles at the Large Hadron Collider. We start with the Standard Model particle content and representations and add generic doubly-charged exotic particles. We classify these doubly-charged states according to their spin, considering scalar, fermionic and vectorial fields, and according to their SU(2)L representation, being chosen to be either trivial, fundamental, or adjoint. We write the most general interactions between them and the Standard Model sector and study their production modes and possible decay channels. We then probe how they can most likely be observed and how particles with different spin and SU(2)L representations could be possibly distinguished.

Higgs Bosons in supersymmetric U(1)' models with CP Violation

We study the Higgs sector of the U(1)'-extended MSSM with CP violation. This is an extension of the MSSM Higgs sector by one singlet field, introduced to generate the μterm dynamically. We are particularly interested in non-standard decays of Higgs particles, especially of the lightest one, in the presence of CP violating phases for μ_{eff} and the soft parameters. We present analytical expressions for neutral and charged Higgs bosons masses at tree and one-loop levels, including contributions from top and bottom scalar quark sectors. We then study the production and decay channels of the neutral Higgs for a set of benchmark points consistent with low energy data and relic density constraints. Numerical simulations show that a Higgs boson lighter than 2m_W can decay in a quite distinctive manner, including invisible modes into two neutralinos (h->χ^0χ^0) up to 50% of the time, when kinematically allowed. The branching ratio into h->bb, the dominant decay in the SM, is reduced in some U(1)' models and enhanced in others, while the branching ratios for the decays h -> τ+ τ-, h -> WW^* and h -> Z Z^*-> 4l are always reduced with respect to their SM expectations. This possibility has important implications for testing the U(1)' model both at the LHC and later at the ILC.

Higgs Bosons in Warped Space, from the Bulk to the Brane

In the context of warped extra-dimensional models with all fields propagating in the bulk, we address the phenomenology of a bulk scalar Higgs boson, and calculate its production cross section at the LHC as well as its tree-level effects on mediating flavor changing neutral currents. We perform the calculations based on two different approaches. First, we compute our predictions analytically by considering all the degrees of freedom emerging from the dimensional reduction (the infinite tower of Kaluza Klein modes (KK)). In the second approach, we perform our calculations numerically by considering only the effects caused by the first few KK modes, present in the 4-dimensional effective theory. In the case of a Higgs leaking far from the brane, both approaches give the same predictions as the effects of the heavier KK modes decouple. However, as the Higgs boson is pushed towards the TeV brane, the two approaches seem to be equivalent only when one includes heavier and heavier degrees of freedom (which do not seem to decouple). To reconcile these results it is necessary to introduce a type of higher derivative operator which essentially encodes the effects of integrating out the heavy KK modes and dresses the brane Higgs so that it looks just like a bulk Higgs.

Higgs Production in General 5D Warped Models

We calculate the production rate of the Higgs boson at the LHC in the context of general 5 dimensional (5D) warped scenarios with spacetime background modified from the usual $AdS_5$, and where all the SM fields, including the Higgs, propagate in the bulk. This modification can alleviate considerably the bounds coming from precision electroweak tests and flavor physics. We evaluate the Higgs production rate and show that it is generically consistent with the current experimental results from the LHC for Kaluza-Klein (KK) masses as low as 2 TeV, unlike in pure $AdS_5$ scenarios, where for the same masses, the Higgs production typically receives corrections too large to be consistent with LHC data. Thus the new pressure on warped models arising from LHC Higgs data is also alleviated in $AdS_5$-modified warped scenarios.

Neutralino and Chargino Production in U(1)' at the LHC

We examine the production and the decay modes of neutralinos and charginos in a softly-broken supersymmetric model with an extra Abelian symmetry U(1)'. We perform the study in a U(1)' model with a secluded sector, where the tension between the electroweak scale and developing a large enough mass for Z' is resolved by incorporating three additional SU(2) singlet fields into the model. Although the chargino sector is the same as in the MSSM, the neutralino sector of the model is very rich: five new fermion fields are added to the neutral sector bring the total neutralino states to nine. We implement the model into standard packages and perform a detailed and systematic analysis of production and decay modes at the LHC, for three different scenarios, and concentrating on final signals (1) 1 lepton+jets +MET, (2) 2 leptons+jets +MET and (3) 3 lepton+0jets +MET, and comment on the case with 0 lepton+jets +MET. We discuss backgrounds and indicate how these signals can be observed, and how the model can be distinguished from other supersymmetric model scenarios.

Sterile neutrinos in U(1)' with R-parity Violation

Motivated by results from short-baseline neutrino oscillation data, we study neutrino masses and mixing in U(1)' supersymmetric models with R-parity breaking. Whether R-parity is broken spontaneous or through (effective) bilinear terms in the Lagrangian, the breaking terms induce mixing between the neutralinos and neutrinos, creating a scenario in which some neutralinos can be heavy, and some light. Both the right-handed neutrino and the singlino (fermionic partner of the additional singlet Higgs field) can be light, and act as sterile neutrinos, which reconcile some of the anomalies observed in solar baseline and reactor experiments. We show that, scanning a large range of the parameter space satisfying solar and atmospheric neutrino constraints, the mass and mixing parameters of the sterile neutrinos are very restrictive, leading to some predictive features for the U(1)' scenarios.

Vector Leptons in the Higgs Triplet Model

We analyze the phenomenological implications of introducing vector-like leptons on the Higgs sector in the Higgs Triplet Model. We impose only a parity symmetry which disallows mixing between the new states and the ordinary leptons. If the vector leptons are allowed to be relatively light, they enhance or suppress the decay rates of loop-dominated neutral Higgs bosons decays h -> gamma gamma and h -> Z gamma, and affect their correlation. An important consequence is that, for light vector leptons, the decay patterns of the the doubly-charged Higgs boson will be altered, modifying the restrictions on their masses.

Neutral Higgs Bosons in the Higgs Triplet Model with nontrivial mixing

We revisit the neutral Higgs sector of the Higgs Triplet Model, with non-negligible mixing in the CP-even Higgs sector. We examine the possibility that one of the Higgs boson state is the particle observed at the LHC at 125 GeV, and the other is either the small LEP excess at 98 GeV; or the CMS excess at 136 GeV; or that the neutral Higgs bosons are (almost) degenerate and have both mass 125 GeV. We show that, under general considerations, an (unmixed) neutral Higgs boson cannot have an enhanced decay branching ratio into gamma gamma with respect to the Standard Model one. An enhancement is however possible for the mixed case, but only for the heavier of the two neutral Higgs bosons, and not for mass-degenerate Higgs bosons. At the same time the branching ratios into WW^*,ZZ^*, bb and tau tau are similar to the Standard Model, or reduced. We correlate the branching ratios of both Higgs states into Z gamma to those into gamma gamma for the three scenarios. The mixed neutral sector of the Higgs triplet model exhibits some features which could distinguish it from other scenarios at the LHC.

Saving the fourth generation Higgs with radion mixing

We study Higgs-radion mixing in a warped extra dimensional model with Standard Model fields in the bulk, and we include a fourth generation of chiral fermions. The main problem with the fourth generation is that, in the absence of Higgs-radion mixing, it produces a large enhancement in the Higgs production cross-section, now severely constrained by LHC data. We analyze the production and decay rates of the two physical states emerging from the mixing and confront them with present LHC data. We show that the current signals observed can be compatible with the presence of one, or both, of these Higgs-radion mixed states (the $ϕ$ and the $h$), although with a severely restricted parameter space. In particular, the radion interaction scale must be quite low, Lambda_ϕ~ 1-1.3 TeV. If m_ϕ~ 125 GeV, the $h$ state must be heavier (m_h>320 GeV). If m_h ~ 125 GeV, the $ϕ$ state must be quite light or close in mass (m_ϕ~ 120 GeV). We also present the modified decay branching ratios of the mixed Higgs-radion states, including flavor violating decays into fourth generation quarks and leptons. The windows of allowed parameter space obtained are very sensitive to the increased precision of upcoming LHC data. During the present year, a clear picture of this scenario will emerge, either confirming or further severely constraining this scenario.

Higgs Bosons in a minimal R-parity conserving left-right supersymmetric model

We revisit the Higgs sector of the left-right supersymmetric model. We study the scalar potential in a version of the model in which the minimum is the charge conserving vacuum state, without R-parity violation or additional non-renormalizable terms in the Lagrangian. We analyze the dependence of the potential and of the Higgs mass spectrum on the various parameters of the model, pinpointing the most sensitive ones. We also show that, contrary to previous expectations, the model can predict light neutral flavor-conserving Higgs bosons, while the flavor-violating ones are heavy, and within the limits from K0-K0bar, D0-D0bar and B0-B0bar mixings. We study variants of the model in which at least one pair of doubly-charged Higgs bosons is light, and show that the parameter space for such Higgs masses and mixings is very restrictive, thus making the model more predictive.

Higgs Phenomenology in Warped Extra-Dimensions with a 4th Generation

We study a warped extra-dimension scenario where the Standard Model fields lie in the bulk, with the addition of a fourth family of fermions. We concentrate on the flavor structure of the Higgs couplings with fermions in the flavor anarchy ansatz. Even without a fourth family, these couplings will be generically misaligned with respect to the SM fermion mass matrices. The presence of the fourth family typically enhances the misalignment effects and we show that one should expect them to be highly non-symmetrical in the ${(34)}$ inter-generational mixing. The radiative corrections from the new fermions and their flavor violating couplings to the Higgs affect negligibly known experimental precision measurements such as the oblique parameters and $Z\to b {\bar b}$ or $Z \to μ^+ μ^-$. On the other hand, $ΔF=1,2$ processes, mediated by tree-level Higgs exchange, as well as radiative corrections to $b \to s γ$ and $μ\to eγ$ put some generic pressure on the allowed size of the flavor violating couplings. But more importantly, these couplings will alter the Higgs decay patterns as well as those of the new fermions, and produce very interesting new signals associated to Higgs phenomenology in high energy colliders. These might become very important indirect signals for these type of models as they would be present even when the KK mass scale is high and no heavy KK particle is discovered.

Production and Decays of $W_R$ bosons at the LHC

With the advent of the LHC, it is important to devise clear tests for Physics Beyond the Standard Model. Such physics could manifest itself in the form of new charged bosons, whose presence is most naturally occurring in left-right symmetric models (LRSM). We analyze the single $W_R$ boson production in an asymmetric left-right model, where the left and right quark mixing matrices are not constrained to be equal. We investigate the cross sections as well as branching ratios of $W_R$ bosons at the LHC, including constraints from low energy phenomenology. We then look for most likely signals in $pp \to W_R\ t \to t ~(dijet)$ production. Including the background, we find that LHC could show significant signals for the new charged bosons. We compare our results throughout with the manifest left-right symmetric model and comment on similarities and differences.

Radion Phenomenology with 3 and 4 Generations

We study radion phenomenology in an warped extra-dimension scenario with Standard Model fields in the bulk, with and without an additional fourth family of fermions. The radion couplings with the fermions will be generically misaligned with respect to the Standard Model fermion mass matrices, therefore producing some amount of flavor violating couplings and potentially influencing production and decay rates of the radion. Simple analytic expressions for the radion-fermion couplings are obtained with three or four families. We also update and analyze the current experimental limits on radion couplings and on the model parameters, again with both three and four families scenarios. We finally present the modified decay branching ratios of the radion with an emphasis on the new channels involving flavor diagonal and flavor violating decays into fourth generation quarks and leptons.

Top quark asymmetry and Wjj excess at CDF from gauged flavor symmetry

We show that the scalar sector needed for fermion mass generation when the flavor symmetry of the standard model is maximally gauged can consistently explain two anomalies reported recently by the CDF collaboration - the forward-backward asymmetry in t-tbar pair production, and the dijet invariant mass in the Wjj channel. A pair of nearly degenerate scalar doublets with masses in the range 150-200 GeV explain these anomalies, with additional scalars predicted in the mass range 100-400 GeV. Consistency of such low scale flavor physics with flavor changing processes is shown, and expectations for the LHC are outlined.

Top Quark Pair Production and Asymmetry at the Tevatron and LHC in Left-Right Models

In light of the recent measurements of the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at the Fermilab Tevatron experiment, which in some regions of the parameter space shows a discrepancy of 3$σ$ compared to the SM prediction, we analyze top quark pair production and asymmetry in the context of left-right models both at the Tevatron and LHC. We use the minimal manifest left-right model and an asymmetric left-right model where gauge couplings and flavor mixing in the right-handed sector are allowed to differ from those in the left-handed sector. We explore the consequences of including effects from $W_R$ and $Z_R$ gauge bosons, consistent with phenomenological constraints from meson mixing and new bounds from ATLAS and CMS, for the $t \bar{t}$ cross section, invariant mass distribution and forward-backward asymmetry at the Tevatron, and predict their values at the LHC. We show that, choosing parameter benchmarks for the model while preserving agreement with collider, electroweak precision, and flavor violation data, the generic left-right model cannot account for the large deviations of the observed asymmetry at the Tevatron and also that it predicts very small charge asymmetries at the LHC.

B Decays in an Asymmetric Left-Right Model

Motivated by recently observed disagreements with the SM predictions in $B$ decays, we study $b \to d, s$ transitions in an asymmetric class of $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{B-L}$ models, with a simple one-parameter structure of the right handed mixing matrix for the quarks, which obeys the constraints from kaon physics. We use experimental constraints on the branching ratios of $b \to s γ$, $b \to c e {\bar ν}_e$, and $B_{d,s}^0 -\bar{B}^0_{d,s}$ mixing to restrict the parameters of the model: $\displaystyle {g_R}/{g_L}, M_{W_2}, M_{H^\pm}, \tan β$ as well as the elements of the right-handed quark mixing matrix $V^R_{CKM}$. We present a comparison with the more commonly used (manifest) left-right symmetric model. Our analysis exposes the parameters most sensitive to $b$ transitions and reveals a large parameter space where left- and right-handed quarks mix differently, opening the possibility of observing marked differences in behaviour between the standard model and the left-right model.

Scalar Neutrinos at the LHC

We study a softly-broken supersymmetric model whose gauge symmetry is that of the standard model (SM) gauge group times an extra Abelian symmetry U(1)'. We call this gauge-extended model U(1)' model, and we study a U(1)' model with a secluded sector such that neutrinos acquire Dirac masses via higher-dimensional terms allowed by the U(1)' invariance. In this model the mu term of the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) is dynamically induced by the vacuum expectation value of a singlet scalar. In addition, the model contains exotic particles necessary for anomaly cancellation, and extra singlet bosons for achieving correct Z'/Z mass hierarchy. The neutrinos are charged under U(1)', and thus, their production and decay channels differ from those in the MSSM in strength and topology. We implement the model into standard packages and perform a detailed analysis of sneutrino production and decay at the Large Hadron Collider, for various mass scenarios, concentrating on three types of signals: (1) 0lep+ MET,(2) 2lep+MET, and (3) 4lep + MET. We compare the results with those of the MSSM whenever possible, and analyze the SM background for each signal. The sneutrino production and decays provide clear signatures enabling distinction of the U(1)' model from the MSSM at the LHC.

Sneutrino Dark Matter: Symmetry Protection and Cosmic Ray Anomalies

We present an R-parity conserving model of sneutrino dark matter within a Higgs-philic U(1)' extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. In this theory, the mu parameter and light Dirac neutrino masses are generated naturally upon the breaking of the U(1)' gauge symmetry. The leptonic and hadronic decays of sneutrinos in this model, taken to be the lightest and next-to-lightest superpartners, allow for a natural fit to the recent results reported by the PAMELA experiment.

Collider Effects of Unparticle Interactions in Multiphoton Signals

A new model of physics, with a hidden conformal sector which manifests itself as an unparticle coupling to Standard Model particles effectively through higher dimensional operators, predicts strong collider signals due to unparticle self-interactions. We perform a complete analysis of the most spectacular of these signals at the hadron collider, pp -> 4photon and pp ->2photon,2gluon. These processes can go through the three-point unparticle self interactions as well as through some s and t channel diagrams with one and/or two unparticle exchanges. We study the contributions of individual diagrams classified with respect to the number of unparticle exchanges and discuss their effect on the cross sections at the Tevatron and the LHC. We also restrict the Tevatron bound on the unknown coefficient of the three-point unparticle correlator. With the availability of data from Tevatron, and the advent of the data emerging from the LHC, these interactions can provide a clear and strong indication of unparticle physics and distinguish this model from other beyond the standard model scenarios.

The Integrability of Pauli System in Lorentz Violating Background

We systematically analyze the integrability of a Pauli system in Lorentz violating background at the non-relativistic level both in two- and three-dimensions. We consider the non-relativistic limit of the Dirac equation from the QED sector of the so-called Standard Model Extension by keeping only two types of background couplings, the vector a_mu and the axial vector b_mu. We show that the spin-orbit interaction comes as a higher order correction in the non-relativistic limit of the Dirac equation. Such an interaction allows the inclusion of spin degree non-trivially, and if Lorentz violating terms are allowed, they might be comparable under special circumstances. By including all possible first-order derivative terms and considering the cases a\ne 0, b\ne 0, and b_0\ne 0 one at a time, we determine the possible forms of constants of motion operator, and discuss the existence or continuity of integrability due to Lorentz violating background.

CP-Odd Phase Effects in a Left-Right Symmetric Chargino Sector

The left-right supersymmetric model contains a right-handed gaugino, as well as several higgsinos, in addition to the minimal supersymmetric model. Thus several CP-noninvariant phases appear in this sector. We analyze their impact on chargino masses and find that only two combinations are physically relevant. We then study the production of charginos in e+e- annihilation and chargino decays into a sneutrino and a lepton, and investigate the effects of CP-phases. We also study the CP-odd asymmetry in the production and subsequent decay at the linear collider with longitudinally polarized beams and find a large enhancement when the decay channel to the right sneutrino is available. The effects of the phases in the left-right supersymmetric chargino sector are different from the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and signals from this sector would be able to distinguish between different gauge symmetries.

Neutrino Masses in the Effective Rank-5 Subgroups of E_6 I: Non-supersymmetric Case

The neutral fermion sectors of E_6-inspired low energy models, in particular the Alternative Left-Right and Inert models, are considered in detail within the non-supersymmetric scenario. We show that in their simplest form, these models always predict, for each generation, the lightest neutrino to be an SU(2)_L singlet, as well as two extra neutrinos with masses of the order of the up-quark mass. In order to recover Standard Model phenomenology, additional assumptions in the form of discrete symmetries and/or new interactions are needed. These are classified as the Discrete Symmetry (DS), Higher Dimensional Operators (HDO), and Additional Neutral Fermion (ANF) methods. The DS method can solve the problem, but requires additional Higgs doublets that do not get vacuum expectation values. The HDO method predicts no sterile neutrino, and that the active neutrinos mix with a heavy isodoublet neutrino, thus slightly suppressing the couplings of active neutrinos, with interesting phenomenological implications. The ANF method also predicts this suppression, and also naturally includes one or more "sterile" neutrinos. This scenario allows the existence of sterile neutrino(s) in either a 3+1 or 2+2 structure at low energies, which are favored by the LSND result.

Neutrino Masses in the Effective Rank-5 Subgroups of E_6 II: Supersymmetric Case

We present a complete analysis of the neutral fermion sector of supersymmetric E_6-inspired low energy models containing an extra SU(2), concentrating on the Alternate Left-Right and Inert models. We show that the R-parity conserving scenario always exhibits a large Dirac mass for ν_L with maximal mixing with an isosinglet neutrino, and that R-parity violating scenarios do not change the picture other than allowing further mixing with another isosinglet. In order to recover Standard Model phenomenology, additional assumptions in the form of discrete symmetries and/or new interactions are needed. We introduce and investigate Discrete Symmetry method and Higher Dimensional Operators as mechanisms for solving the neutrino mass and mixing problems in these models.

t->cg, cγ, cZ in the Left-Right Supersymmetric Model

We analyse top quark flavor violating decays into a charm quark and a gluon, photon or Z boson in a supersymmetric model incorporating left-right symmetry. We include loop calculations involving contributions from scalar quarks, gluinos, charginos and neutralinos. We perform the calculations first assuming the minimal (flavor diagonal) scalar quark scenario, and then allowing for arbitrary mixing between the second and third generation of scalar quarks, in both the up and down sectors. In each case we present separately the contributions from gluino, chargino and neutralino loops and compare their respective strengths. In the flavor-diagonal case, the branching ratio cannot exceed 10^-5 (10^-6) for the gluon (photon/Z boson); while for the unconstrained (flavor non-diagonal) case the same branching ratios can reach almost 10^-4 for the gluon, 10^-6 for the photon and 10^-5 for the Z boson, all of which are slightly below the expected reach of LHC.

$B^0_d-{\bar B}^0_d$ mixing in the left-right supersymmetric model

We analyze $B^0_d-{\bar B}^0_d$ mixing in a fully left-right supersymmetric model. We give explicit expressions for all the chargino, gluino, gluino-neutralino and neutralino amplitudes involved in the process. We calculate the mass difference $Δm_d$ and CP asymmetry $a_{J/ψK_s}$ in both the constrained case (where the only flavor violation comes from the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix) and the unconstrained case (including soft supersymmetry breaking terms). The constrained case does not contain any new information beyond the supergravity-inspired MSSM. In the unconstrained case, the main contribution to $B^0_d-{\bar B}^0_d$ and the CP asymmetry is due to either gluino diagrams, if the dominating flavor mixing arises in the down squark sector, or chargino diagrams, if the dominant flavor mixing comes from the up squark sector. We include numerical results and compare this analysis with the ones performed in other models.

$B \to X_s l^+l^-$ in the left-right supersymmetric model

We analyze the FCNC semileptonic decay $B \to X_s l^+l^-$ in a fully left-right supersymmetric model. We give explicit expressions for all the amplitudes involved in the process, and compare the numerical results with experimental bounds, in both the constrained case (where the only flavor violation comes from the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix) and the unconstrained case (including soft breaking supersymmetry terms). Stringent constraints on the parameter space of the model are obtained. We also include constraints from $b \to s γ$.
