Prospect for measurement of CP-violating parameters of $B_s^0 \to ϕγ$ at the Tera Z factory

$b \to sγ$ transition is a critical flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) process that could be used to probe CP violation (CPV) and new physics (NP). We quantify the anticipated precision for measuring $B_s^0 \to ϕγ$ at the CEPC Z pole operation, showing that the relative statistical uncertainty could be as low as 0.16\%, improved by approximately two orders of magnitude compared to existing measurements. Additionally, we perform a time-dependent analysis of the $B_s^0 \to ϕγ$ decay, accounting for $B_s^0/\bar{B}_s^0$ mixing extract the mixing-induced and CP-violating parameters $\boldsymbol{\mathcal{A}_{ϕγ}^Δ}$, $\boldsymbol{C_{ϕγ}}$ and $\boldsymbol{S_{ϕγ}}$. Using central value from LHCb measurement as input, we evaluate the anticipated accuracy of measurements of these parameters. The projected statistical uncertainties are $σ_{A_{ϕγ}^Δ{}^{\text{stat}}} = 0.021$, $σ_C^{\text{stat}} = 0.0092$ and $σ_S^{\text{stat}} = 0.0096$, and the systematic uncertainties are $σ_{A_{ϕγ}^Δ{}^{\text{syst}}} = 0.035$, $σ_C^{\text{syst}} = 0.0027$ and $σ_S^{\text{syst}} = 0.0064$. Furthermore, the 1$σ$ sensitivity boundaries for NP in this study are found to be $\mathcal{A}_{ϕγ}^Δ< -0.05$ or $\mathcal{A}_{ϕγ}^Δ> 0.15$, $\mathcal{C}_{ϕγ} < -0.02$ or $\mathcal{C}_{ϕγ} > 0.04$, and $\mathcal{S}_{ϕγ} < -0.04$ or $\mathcal{S}_{ϕγ} > 0.04$. We also conduct a relevant detector optimization study by establishing the correlation between the anticipated precision and the intrinsic resolution of the ECAL, as well as the performance of the PID system.

Analysis of $B_s\toϕν\barν$ at CEPC

The rare $b\to sν\barν$ decays are sensitive to contributions of new physics (NP) and helpful to resolve the puzzle of multiple $B$ flavor anomalies. In this work, we propose to study the $b\to sν\barν$ transition at a future lepton collider operating at the $Z$ pole through the $B_s \to ϕν\barν$ decay. Using the $B_s\toϕ$ decay form factors from lattice simulations, we first update the SM prediction of BR($B_s \to ϕν\barν)_{\mathrm{SM}}=(9.93\pm 0.72)\times 10^{-6}$ and the corresponding $ϕ$ longitudinal polarization fraction $F_{L,{\mathrm{SM}}}=0.53\pm 0.04$. Our analysis uses the full CEPC simulation samples with a net statistic of $\mathcal{O}(10^9)$ $Z$ decays. Precise $ϕ$ and $B_s$ reconstructions are used to suppress backgrounds. The results show that BR($B_s \to ϕν\barν)$ can be measured with a statistical uncertainty of $\mathcal{O}(\%)$ and an $S/B$ ratio of $\mathcal{O}(1)$ at the CEPC. The quality measures for the event reconstruction are also derived. By combining the measurement of BR($B_s \to ϕν\barν)$ and $F_L$, the constraints on the effective theory couplings at low energy are given.

Light Dark Matter Axion Detection with Static Electric Field

We explore the axionic dark matter search sensitivity with a narrow-band detection scheme aiming at the axion-photon conversion by the static electric field inside a cylindrical capacitor. An alternating magnetic field signal is induced by effective currents as the axion dark matter flows perpendicularly through the electric field. At low axion masses, like in a KKLT scenario, front-end narrow band filtering is provided by using LC resonance with a high $Q$ factor, which enhances the detectability of the tiny magnetic field signal and also leads to a thermal noise as the major background that can be reduced at cryogenic conditions. We demonstrate that high $g_{aγ}$ sensitivity can be achieved by using a strong electric field. The QCD axion theoretical parameter space can be reached with high $E\sim$ GVm$^{-1}$ field strength. Using the static electric field scheme essentially avoids exposing the sensitive superconducting pickup to an applied laboratory magnetic field.

Analysis of $B_c \to τν_τ$ at CEPC

The precise determination of the $B_c \to τν_τ$ branching ratio provides an advantageous opportunity for understanding the electroweak structure of the Standard Model, measuring the CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ and probing new physics models. In this paper, we discuss the potential of measuring the processes of $B_c \to τν_τ$ with $τ$ decaying leptonically at the proposed Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). We conclude that during the $Z$ pole operation, the channel signal can achieve five $σ$ significance with $\sim 10^9$ $Z$ decays, and the signal strength accuracies for $B_c \to τν_τ$ can reach around 1% level at the nominal CEPC $Z$ pole statistics of one trillion $Z$ decays assuming the total $B_c \to τν_τ$ yield is $3.6 \times 10^6$. Our theoretical analysis indicates the accuracy could provide a strong constraint on the general effective Hamiltonian for the $b \to cτν$ transition. If the total $B_c$ yield can be determined to $\mathcal{O}(1\%)$ level of accuracy in the future, these results also imply $|V_{cb}|$ could be measured up to $\mathcal{O}(1\%)$ level of accuracy.

Higgs to $ττ$ analysis in the future $e^{+}e^{-}$ Higgs factories

The Circular Electron Positron Collider and International Linear Collider are two electron positron Higgs factories. They are designed to operate at center-of-mass energy of 240 and 250 GeV and accumulate 5.6 and 2 $ab^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Using CEPC official samples, the signal strength for Higgs to $ττ$ events are analyzed. The combined accuracy of the signal strength for $H\rightarrow ττ$ at CEPC achieves 0.8\%. Extrapolating this analysis to the ILC setup, we conclude the ILC can reach a relative accuracy of 1.1\% or 1.2\%, corresponding to two benchmark settings of the beam polarization.

Photon Reconstruction Performance at the CEPC baseline detector

The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a proposed Higgs/Z factory. The photon reconstruction is critical to its physics program. We study the photon reconstruction at the CEPC baseline detector, a Particle Flow oriented detector. We characterized the objective performance at both single-photon and di-photon samples. At the single-photon sample, we quantify the photon conversion rate, the differential reconstruction efficiency and energy resolution, and the identification performance. Using di-photon samples, our analysis shows that the CEPC baseline detector reaches a relative mass resolution of 1.7 - 2.2% of the Higgs boson at the $H\toγγ$ sample, and can reconstruct the $π^0$ with energy as high as 20 - 30 GeV. We also investigate the impact of geometry defects on photon energy resolution and discuss the possible corrections according to the reconstructed photon position.

Concept for a Future Super Proton-Proton Collider

Following the discovery of the Higgs boson at LHC, new large colliders are being studied by the international high-energy community to explore Higgs physics in detail and new physics beyond the Standard Model. In China, a two-stage circular collider project CEPC-SPPC is proposed, with the first stage CEPC (Circular Electron Positron Collier, a so-called Higgs factory) focused on Higgs physics, and the second stage SPPC (Super Proton-Proton Collider) focused on new physics beyond the Standard Model. This paper discusses this second stage.

Arbor, a new approach of the Particle Flow Algorithm

The granularity of calorimeter has been revolutionary boosted for future collider experiments. The calorimeter has been pushed to a stage that the sub structure of showers especially hadronic showers can be recorded to a high precision. New reconstruction algorithms are expected from these informations. Following the idea that shower follows the topology of the tree, we developed Arbor, a Particle Flow Algorithm framework. Tested on both simulated data and test beam data, it can successfully separate nearby showers. It has comparable jet energy resolution the best PFA algorithm for International Linear Collider. More importantly, Arbor successfully tags the sub shower structure such as the trajectory of charged particles generated in shower cascade, enabling new approaches for event reconstruction with high granularity calorimeter.

Higgs measurement at e+e- circular colliders

Now that the mass of the Higgs boson is known, circular electron positron colliders, able to measure the properties of these particles with high accuracy, are receiving considerable attention. Design studies have been launched (i) at CERN with the Future Circular Colliders (FCC), of which an e+e- collider is a potential first step (FCC-ee, formerly caller TLEP) and (ii) in China with the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). Hosted in a tunnel of at least 50 km (CEPC) or 80-100 km (FCC), both projects can deliver very high luminosity from the Z peak to HZ threshold (CEPC) and even to the top pair threshold and above (FCC-ee). At the ZH production optimum, around 240 GeV, the FCC-ee (CEPC) will be able to deliver 10 (5) ab-1 integrated luminosity in 5 (10) years with 4 (2) interaction points: hence to produce millions of Higgs bosons through the Higgsstrahlung process and vector boson fusion processes. This sample opens the possibility of subper- cent precision absolute measurements of the Higgs boson couplings to fermions and to gauge-bosons, and of the Higgs boson width. These precision measurements are potentially sensitive to multi-TeV range new physics interacting with the scalar sector. The ZH production mechanism also gives access to the invisible or exotic branching ratios down to the per mil level, and with a more limited precision to the triple Higgs coupling. For the FCC-ee, the luminosity expected at the top pair production threshold (sqrt(s) ~ 340-350 GeV) further improves some of these accuracies significantly, and is sensitive to the Higgs boson coupling to the top quark.

Fractal Dimension of Particle Showers Measured in a Highly Granular Calorimeter

We explore the fractal nature of particle showers using Monte-Carlo simulation. We define the fractal dimension of showers measured in a high granularity calorimeter designed for a future lepton collider. The shower fractal dimension reveals detailed information of the spatial configuration of the shower. %the information hidden in the details of shower spatial configuration, It is found to be characteristic of the type of interaction and highly sensitive to the nature of the incident particle. Using the shower fractal dimension, we demonstrate a particle identification algorithm that can efficiently separate electromagnetic showers, hadronic showers and non-showering tracks. We also find a logarithmic dependence of the shower fractal dimension on the particle energy.
