On local equivalence of star-products on Poisson manifolds

We present a proof that every star-product defined on a Poisson manifold and written in a given quantum canonical coordinate system is uniquely equivalent with a Moyal product associated with this coordinate system. The equivalence is assumed to satisfy some additional conditions which guarantee its uniqueness. Moreover, the systematic construction of such equivalence is presented and a formula for this equivalence in a case of a particular class of star-products is given, to the fourth order in $\hbar$.

Separable quantizations of Stäckel systems

In this article we prove that many Hamiltonian systems that can not be separably quantized in the classical approach of Robertson and Eisenhardt can be separably quantized if we extend the class of admissible quantizations through a suitable choice of Riemann space adapted to the Poisson geometry of the system. Actually, in this article we prove that for every quadratic in momenta Stäckel system (defined on a 2n-dimensional Poisson manifold) for which the Stäckel matrix consists of monomials in position coordinates there exist infinitely many quantizations - parametrized by n arbitrary functions - that turn this system into a quantum separable Stäckel system.

Flat minimal quantizations of Stackel systems and quantum separability

In this paper, we consider the problem of quantization of classical Stäckel systems and the problem of separability of related quantum Hamiltonians. First, using the concept of Stäckel transform, all considered systems are expressed by flat coordinates of related Euclidean configuration space. Then, the so-called flat minimal quantization procedure is applied in order to construct an appropriate Hermitian operator in the respective Hilbert space. Finally, we distinguish a class of Stäckel systems which remains separable after any of admissible flat minimal quantizations.

Canonical quantization of classical mechanics in curvilinear coordinates. Invariant quantization procedure

In the paper is presented an invariant quantization procedure of classical mechanics on the phase space over flat configuration space. Then, the passage to an operator representation of quantum mechanics in a Hilbert space over configuration space is derived. An explicit form of position and momentum operators as well as their appropriate ordering in arbitrary curvilinear coordinates is demonstrated. Finally, the extension of presented formalism onto non-flat case and related ambiguities of the process of quantization are discussed.

Integrable quantum Stäckel systems

The Stäckel separability of a Hamiltonian system is well known to ensure existence of a complete set of Poisson commuting integrals of motion quadratic in the momenta. In the present paper we consider a class of Stäckel separable systems where the entries of the Stäckel matrix are monomials in the separation variables. We show that the only systems in this class for which the integrals of motion arising from the Stäckel construction keep commuting after quantization are, up to natural equivalence transformations, the so-called Benenti systems. Moreover, it turns out that the latter are the only quantum separable systems (that is, they admit separation of variables in the Schrödinger equation) in the class under study.

Invertible coupled KdV and coupled Harry Dym hierarchies

In this paper we discuss the conditions under which the coupled KdV and coupled Harry Dym hierarchies possess inverse (negative) parts. We further investigate the structure of nonlocal parts of tensor invariants of these hierarchies, in particular, the nonlocal terms of vector fields, conserved one-forms, recursion operators, Poisson and symplectic operators. We show that the invertible cKdV hierarchies possess Poisson structures that are at most weakly nonlocal while coupled Harry Dym hierarchies have Poisson structures with nonlocalities of the third order.

Natural star-products on symplectic manifolds and related quantum mechanical operators

In this paper is considered a problem of defining natural star-products on symplectic manifolds, admissible for quantization of classical Hamiltonian systems. First, a construction of a star-product on a cotangent bundle to an Euclidean configuration space is given with the use of a sequence of pair-wise commuting vector fields. The connection with a covariant representation of such a star-product is also presented. Then, an extension of the construction to symplectic manifolds over flat and non-flat pseudo-Riemannian configuration spaces is discussed. Finally, a coordinate free construction of related quantum mechanical operators from Hilbert space over respective configuration space is presented.

Canonical transformations in quantum mechanics

This paper presents the general theory of canonical transformations of coordinates in quantum mechanics. First, the theory is developed in the formalism of phase space quantum mechanics. It is shown that by transforming a star-product, when passing to a new coordinate system, observables and states transform as in classical mechanics, i.e., by composing them with a transformation of coordinates. Then the developed formalism of coordinate transformations is transferred to a standard formulation of quantum mechanics. In addition, the developed theory is illustrated on examples of particular classes of quantum canonical transformations.

Construction and separability of nonlinear soliton integrable couplings

A very natural construction of integrable extensions of soliton systems is presented. The extension is made on the level of evolution equations by a modification of the algebra of dynamical fields. The paper is motivated by recent works of Wen-Xiu Ma et al. (Comp. Math. Appl. 60 (2010) 2601, Appl. Math. Comp. 217 (2011) 7238), where new class of soliton systems, being nonlinear integrable couplings, was introduced. The general form of solutions of the considered class of coupled systems is described. Moreover, the decoupling procedure is derived, which is also applicable to several other coupling systems from the literature.

Quantum trajectories

This paper presents a new approach to phase space trajectories in quantum mechanics. A Moyal description of quantum theory is used, where observables and states are treated as classical functions on a classical phase space. A quantum trajectory being an appropriate solution to quantum Hamiltonian equations is also a function defined on a classical phase space. The difference, when compare with classical theory, is in a deformation of a classical action of a flow on observables and states to an appropriate quantum action. This leads also to deformation of a multiplication rule for any quantum trajectory treated as a one-parameter group of diffeomorphisms. Moreover, several examples are given, presenting the developed formalism for particular quantum systems.

Phase Space Quantum Mechanics

The paper develop the alternative formulation of quantum mechanics known as the phase space quantum mechanics or deformation quantization. It is shown that the quantization naturally arises as an appropriate deformation of the classical Hamiltonian mechanics. More precisely, the deformation of the point-wise product of observables to an appropriate noncommutative $\star$-product and the deformation of the Poisson bracket to an appropriate Lie bracket is the key element in introducing the quantization of classical Hamiltonian systems. The considered class of deformations and the corresponding $\star$-products contains as a special cases all deformations which can be found in the literature devoted to the subject of the phase space quantum mechanics. Fundamental properties of $\star$-products of observables, associated with the considered deformations are presented as well. Moreover, a space of states containing all admissible states is introduced, where the admissible states are appropriate pseudo-probability distributions defined on the phase space. It is proved that the space of states is endowed with a structure of a Hilbert algebra with respect to the $\star$-multiplication. The most important result of the paper shows that developed formalism is more fundamental then the axiomatic ordinary quantum mechanics which appears in the presented approach as the intrinsic element of the general formalism. The equivalence of two formulations of quantum mechanics is proved by observing that the Wigner-Moyal transform has all properties of the tensor product. This observation allows writing many previous results found in the literature in a transparent way, from which the equivalence of the two formulations of quantum mechanics follows naturally.

Bi-presymplectic representation of Liouville integrable systems and related separability theory

Bi-presymplectic chains of one-forms of arbitrary co-rank are considered. The conditions in which such chains represent some Liouville integrable systems and the conditions in which there exist related bi-Hamiltonian chains of vector fields are presented. In order to derived the construction of bi-presymplectic chains, the notions of dual Poisson-presymplectic pair, d-compatibility of presymplectic forms and d-compatibility of Poisson bivectors is used. The completely algorithmic construction of separation coordinates is demonstrated. It is also proved that Stäckel separable systems have bi-inverse-Hamiltonian representation, i.e. are represented by bi-presymplectic chains of closed one-forms. The co-rank of related structures depends on the explicit form of separation relations.

preprint2009arXiv

Bi-Hamiltonian representation of Stäckel systems

It is shown that a linear separation relations are fundamental objects for integration by quadratures of Stäckel separable Liouville integrable systems (the so-called Stäckel systems). These relations are further employed for the classification of Stäckel systems. Moreover, we prove that {\em any} Stäckel separable Liouville integrable system can be lifted to a bi-Hamiltonian system of Gel'fand-Zakharevich type. In conjunction with other known result this implies that the existence of bi-Hamiltonian representation of Liouville integrable systems is a necessary condition for Stäckel separability.

Classical R-matrix theory for bi-Hamiltonian field systems

The R-matrix formalism for the construction of integrable systems with infinitely many degrees of freedom is reviewed. Its application to Poisson, noncommutative and loop algebras as well as central extension procedure are presented. The theory is developed for (1+1)-dimensional case where the space variable belongs either to R or to various discrete sets. Then, the extension onto (2+1)-dimensional case is made, when the second space variable belongs to R. The formalism presented contains many proofs and important details to make it self-contained and complete. The general theory is applied to several infinite dimensional Lie algebras in order to construct both dispersionless and dispersive (soliton) integrable field systems.

Bi-Hamiltonian structures for integrable systems on regular time scales

A construction of the bi-Hamiltonian structures for integrable systems on regular time scales is presented. The trace functional on an algebra of $δ$-pseudo-differential operators, valid on an arbitrary regular time scale, is introduced. The linear Poisson tensors and the related Hamiltonians are derived. The quadratic Poisson tensors is given by the use of the recursion operators of the Lax hierarchies. The theory is illustrated by $Δ$-differential counterparts of Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur and Kaup-Broer hierarchies.

preprint2008arXiv

R-matrix approach to integrable systems on time scales

A general unifying framework for integrable soliton-like systems on time scales is introduced. The $R$-matrix formalism is applied to the algebra of $δ$-differential operators in terms of which one can construct infinite hierarchy of commuting vector fields. The theory is illustrated by two infinite-field integrable hierarchies on time scales which are difference counterparts of KP and mKP. The difference counterparts of AKNS and Kaup-Broer soliton systems are constructed as related finite-field restrictions.

preprint2007arXiv

Integrable discrete systems on R and related dispersionless systems

The general framework for integrable discrete systems on R in particular containing lattice soliton systems and their q-deformed analogues is presented. The concept of regular grain structures on R, generated by discrete one-parameter groups of diffeomorphisms, through which one can define algebras of shift operators is introduced. Two integrable hierarchies of discrete chains together with bi-Hamiltonian structures are constructed. Their continuous limit and the inverse problem based on the deformation quantization scheme are considered.

Meromorphic Lax representations of (1+1)-dimensional multi-Hamiltonian dispersionless systems

Rational Lax hierarchies introduced by Krichever are generalized. A systematic construction of infinite multi-Hamiltonian hierarchies and related conserved quantities is presented. The method is based on the classical R-matrix approach applied to Poisson algebras. A proof, that Poisson operators constructed near different points of Laurent expansion of Lax functions are equal, is given. All results are illustrated by several examples.
