Higgs Sector Radiative Corrections and s-Channel Production

Higgs boson mass sum rules of supersymmetric models offer attractive targets for precision tests at future muon colliders. These sum rules involve the gauge boson masses as well as the masses of the Higgs boson states which can be precisely measured in the ss-channel production process at a muon collider. These measurements can sensitively probe radiative corrections to the Higgs boson masses as well as test for CP-violation and nonminimality of the Higgs sector.

Production of Z Boson Pairs via Gluon Fusion in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model

We present the full one-loop calculation for gg→ZZgg \to ZZ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM) including nonresonant contributions from the squark loop diagrams and provide analytical expressions for the helicity amplitudes. The one-loop process gg→ZZgg \to ZZ via quark loops has been calculated in the Standard Model. In supersymmetric models, additional contributions arise from squark loops. In some regions of the MSSM parameter space, the top and bottom squark loops can make important contributions to the diagrams involving Higgs bosons. The heavy Higgs scalar (H) might be detected at the Large Hadron Collider via gg→H→ZZgg \to H \to ZZ for $\tanβ\alt 5$.

Physics Goals of a μ+μ−μ^+μ^- Collider

This working group report focuses on the physics potential of μ+μ−μ^+μ^- colliders beyond what can be accomplished at linear e+e−e^+e^- colliders and the LHC. Particularly interesting possibilities include (i)~ss-channel resonance production to discover and study heavy Higgs bosons with ZZZZ and WWWW couplings that are suppressed or absent at tree-level (such as the HH and AA Higgs bosons of supersymmetric models), (ii)~study of the strongly interacting electroweak sector, where higher energies give larger signals, and (iii)~measurements of the masses and properties of heavy supersymmetric particles.

Quark Singlets: Implications and Constraints

Quarks whose left- and right-handed chiral components are both singlets with respect to the SU(2) weak-isospin gauge group, offer interesting physics possibilities beyond the Standard Model (SM) already studied in many contexts. We here address some further aspects. We first collect and update the constraints from present data on their masses and mixings with conventional quarks. We discuss possible effects on b→sγb\to sγ and Z→bbˉZ\to b\bar b decays and give fresh illustrations of CP asymmetries in B0B^0 decays differing dramatically from SM expectations. We analyse singlet effects in grand unification scenarios: dd-type singlets are most economically introduced in 5+5∗{\bf 5+5^*} multiplets of SU(5)SU(5), with up to three generations, preserving gauge coupling unification with perturbative values up to the GUT scale; uu-type singlets can arise in 10+10∗{\bf 10+10^*} multiplets of SU(5)SU(5) with at most one light generation. With extra matter multiplets the gauge couplings are bigger; we give the two-loop evolution equations including exotic multiplets and a possible extra U(1)U(1) symmetry. Two-loop effects can become important, threatening unification (modulo threshold effects), perturbativity and asymptotic freedom of α3α_3. In the Yukawa sector, top-quark fixed-point behaviour is preserved and singlet-quark couplings have infrared fixed points too, but unification of bb and ττ couplings is not possible in a three-generation E6E_6 model.

Strong WW Scattering at Photon Linear Colliders

We investigate the possibility of observing strong interactions of longitudinally polarized weak vector bosons in the process γγ→ZZγγ\to ZZ at a photon linear collider. We make use of polarization of the photon beams and cuts on the decay products of the ZZ bosons to enhance the signal relative to the background of transversely polarized ZZZZ pairs. We find that the background overwhelms the signal unless there are strong resonant effects, as for instance from a technicolor analogue of the hadronic f2(1270)f_2(1270) meson.
