Analysis of Bose-Einstein correlations at fixed multiplicities in TeV energy $pp$ collisions in the quantum optical approach

The multiplicity distribution and the two-particle Bose-Einstein correlations at fixed multiplicities observed in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV by the ALICE Collaboration are analyzed by the formulae obtained in the quantum optical approach. The chaoticity parameters in the inclusive and semi-inclusive events are estimated from the analysis. Multiplicity or $k_T$ dependence of longitudinal and transverse source radii are also estimated.

A potential including Heaviside function in 1+1 dimensional hydrodynamics by Landau

In 1+1 dimensional hydrodynamics originally proposed by Landau, we derive a new potential and distribution function including Heaviside function and investigate its mathematical and physical properties. Using the original distribution derived by Landau, a distribution function found by Srivastava et al., our distribution function, and the Gaussian distribution proposed by Carruthers et al., we analyze the data of the rapidity distribution on charged pions and K mesons at RHIC energies (sqrt(s_NN) = 62.4 GeV and 200 GeV). Three distributions derived from the hydrodynamics show almost the same chi-squared values provided the CERN MINUIT is used. We know that our calculations of hadron's distribution do not strongly depend on the range of integration of fluid rapidity, contrary to that of Srivastava et al. Finally the roles of the Heaviside function in concrete analyses of data are investigated.

Local thermalization in d + Au collisions

The extent of a locally equilibrated parton plasma in d + Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV is investigated as a function of centrality in a nonequilibrium-statistical framework. Based on a three-sources model, analytical solutions of a relativistic diffusion equation are in precise agreement with recent data for charged-particle pseudorapidity distributions. The moving midrapidity source indicates the size of the local thermal equilibrium region after hadronization. In central d + Au collisions it contains 19% of the produced particles.

Transverse momentum distribution with radial flow in relativistic diffusion model

Large transverse momentum distributions of identified particles observed at RHIC are analyzed by a relativistic stochastic model in the three dimensional (non-Euclidean) rapidity space. A distribution function obtained from the model is Gaussian-like in radial rapidity. It can well describe observed transverse momentum $p_T$ distributions. Estimation of radial flow is made from the analysis of $p_T$ distributions for $\bar{p}$ in Au + Au Collisions. Temperatures are estimated from observed large $p_T$ distributions under the assumption that the distribution function approaches to the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution in the lower momentum limit. Power-law behavior of large $p_T$ distribution is also derived from the model.

Oscillations of Cumulant Moments - Universality of Amplitudes

We demonstrate on simple examples that oscillatory behaviour of moments of multiplicity distributions P(n) observed in e^+e^- annihilations, in hadronic pp collisions and in collisions on nuclei, p+A, is to a large extend caused by the experimental artifact of measuring only limited range of P(n). In particular we show that by applying a suitable universal cutt-off procedure to the measured P(n) one gets for reactions mentioned before oscillations of similar magnitude. The location of zeros of oscillations as a function of the rank of moments and their shapes remain, however, distinctively different for different types of reactions considered. This applies to some extend also to collisions of nuclei, which otherwise follow their own pattern of behaviour.

Quasiscaling in the analysis of the yield ratio $π^-/π^+$: Mathematical structure and estimation of source size

Recently we have found that integral of the squared Coulomb wave function describing systemcomposed of charged pion and central charged fragment $Z_{eff}$ protons, $|ψ_r(r)|^2$, times pion source function $ρ(r)$ (of the size $β$), $\intdr |ψ_r(r)|^2 ρ(r)$, shows a quasiscaling behavior. This is approximately invariant under the following transformation: $(β,Z_{eff}) \to (λβ,λZ_{eff})$; $λ>0$. We called such behavior $β-Z_{eff}$ quasiscaling. We examine this quasiscaling behavior in detail. In particular we provide a semi-analytical examination of this behavior and confirm it for the exponential pionic source functions in addition to the Gaussian ones and for the production of K mesons as well. When combined with the results of the HBT, a result of the yield ratio allows us to estimate the size of the central charged fragment (CCF) to be $125\le Z_{eff}\le 150$ for Pb+Pb collisions at energy 158 GeV/nucleon. From our estimation, the baryon number density $0.024 \le n_{B}\le0.036$ [1/fm^3] is obtained.

Intermittency and Bose-Einstein correlations

The role of Bose-Einstein correlations in a widely discussed intermittency phenomenon is reviewed. In particular, it is shown that particle correlations of different origin are better displayed when analysed as functions of appropriately chosen variables. Correspondingly, if the shape of Bose-Einstein contribution is chosen to be Gaussian in 3-momentum transferred, it provides the power-like law in 4-momentum squared and is smeared out in (pseudo)rapidity.
