Entanglement entropy in quantum spin chains with broken parity number symmetry

Consider a generic quantum spin chain that can be mapped to free quadratic fermions via Jordan-Wigner (JW) transformation. In the presence of arbitrary boundary magnetic fields, this Hamiltonian is no longer a quadratic Hamiltonian after JW transformation. Using ancillary sites and enlarging the Hamiltonian we first introduce a bigger quadratic Hamiltonian. Then we diagonalize this enlarged Hamiltonian in its most generic form and show that all the states are degenerate because of the presence of a zero mode. The eigenstates of the original spin chain with boundary magnetic fields can be derived after appropriate projection. We study in-depth the properties of the eigenstates of the enlarged Hamiltonian. In particular, we find: 1) the eigenstates in configuration bases, 2) calculate all the correlation functions, 3) find the reduced density matrices, 4) calculate the entanglement entropy. We show that the generic eigenstate of the enlarged Hamiltonian (including the eigenstates of the original spin chain) breaks the parity number symmetry and consequently one needs to take care of some technicalities regarding the calculation of the reduced density matrix and entanglement entropy. Interestingly we show that the entanglement structure of these eigenstates is quite universal and independent of the Hamiltonian. We support our results by applying them to a couple of examples.

Entanglement of magnon excitations in spin chains

We calculate exactly the entanglement content of magnon excited states in the integrable spin-1/2 XXX and XXZ chains in the scaling limit. In particular, we show that as far as the number of excited magnons with respect to the size of the system is small one can decompose the entanglement content, in the scaling limit, to the sum of the entanglement of particular excited states of free fermionic or bosonic theories. In addition we conjecture that the entanglement content of the generic translational invariant free fermionic and bosonic Hamiltonians can be also classified, in the scaling limit, with respect to the entanglement content of the fermionic and bosonic chains with the number operator as the Hamiltonian in certain circumstances. Our results effectively classify the entanglement content of wide range of integrable spin chains in the scaling limit.

Subsystem distances between quasiparticle excited states

We investigate the subsystem Schatten distance, trace distance and fidelity between the quasiparticle excited states of the free and the nearest-neighbor coupled fermionic and bosonic chains and the ferromagnetic phase of the spin-1/2 XXX chain. The results support the scenario that in the scaling limit when one excited quasiparticle has a large energy it decouples from the ground state and when two excited quasiparticles have a large momentum difference they decouple from each other. From the quasiparticle picture, we get the universal subsystem distances that are valid when both the large energy condition and the large momentum difference condition are satisfied, by which we mean each of the excited quasiparticles has a large energy and the momentum difference of each pair of the excited quasiparticles is large. In the free fermionic and bosonic chains, we use the subsystem mode method and get efficiently the subsystem distances, which are also valid in the coupled fermionic and bosonic chains if the large energy condition is satisfied. Moreover, under certain limit the subsystem distances from the subsystem mode method are even valid in the XXX chain. We expect that the results can be also generalized for other integrable models.

Universal logarithmic correction to Rényi (Shannon) entropy in generic systems of critical quadratic fermions

The Rényi (Shannon) entropy, i.e. $Re_α(Sh)$, of the ground state of quantum systems in local bases normally show a volume-law behavior. For a subsystem of quantum chains at critical point there is an extra logarithmic subleading term with a coefficient which is universal. In this paper we study this coefficient for generic time-reversal translational invariant quadratic critical free fermions. These models can be parameterized by a complex function which has zeros on the unit circle. When the zeros on the unit circle do not have degeneracy and there is no zero outside of the unit circle we are able to classify the coefficient of the logarithm. In particular, we numerically calculate the Rényi (Shannon) entropy in configuration basis for wide variety of these models and show that there are two distinct classes. For systems with $U(1)$ symmetry the coefficient is proportional to the central charge, i.e. one half of the number of points that one can linearize the dispersion relation of the system; for all the values of $α$ with transition point at $α=4$. For systems without this symmetry, when $α>1$ this coefficient is again proportional to the central charge. However, the coefficient for $α\leq 1$ is a new universal number. Finally, by using the discrete version of Bisognano-Wichmann modular Hamiltonian of the Ising chain we show that these coefficients are universal and dependent on the underlying CFT.

Entanglement and boundary entropy in quantum spin chains with arbitrary direction of the boundary magnetic fields

We calculate the entanglement and the universal boundary entropy (BE) in the critical quantum spin chains, such as the transverse field Ising chain and the XXZ chain, with arbitrary direction of the boundary magnetic field (ADBMF). We determine the boundary universality class that an ADBMF induces. In particular, we show that the induced boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) depends on the point on the Bloch sphere where the boundary magnetic field directs. We show that the classification of the directions boils down to the simple fact that the boundary field breaks the bulk symmetry or does not. We present a procedure to estimate the universal BE, based on the finite-size corrections of the entanglement entropy, that apply to the ADBMF. To calculate the universal BE in the XXZ chain, we use the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG). The transverse field XY chain with ADBMF after Jordan-Wigner (JW) transformation is not a quadratic free fermion Hamiltonian. We map this model to a quadratic free fermion chain by introducing two extra ancillary spins coupled to the main chain at the boundaries, which makes the problem {\it{integrable}}. The eigenstates of the transverse field XY chain can be obtained by proper projection in the enlarged chain. Using this mapping, we are able to calculate the entanglement entropy of the transverse field XY chain using the usual correlation matrix technique up to relatively large sizes.

Formation probabilities and statistics of observables as defect problems in the free fermions and the quantum spin chains

We show that the computation of formation probabilities (FP) in the configuration basis and the full counting statistics (FCS) of observables in the quadratic fermionic Hamiltonians are equivalent to the calculation of emptiness formation probability (EFP) in the Hamiltonian with a defect. In particular, we first show that the FP of finding a particular configuration in the ground state is equivalent to the EFP of the ground state of the quadratic Hamiltonian with a defect. Then, we show that the probability of finding a particular value for any quadratic observable is equivalent to a FP problem and ultimately leads to the calculation of EFP in the ground state of a Hamiltonian with a defect. We provide new exact determinant formulas for the FP in the generic quadratic fermionic Hamiltonians. As applications of our formalism we study the statistics of the number of particles and kinks. Our conclusions can be extended also to the quantum spin chains that can be mapped to the free fermions via Jordan-Wigner (J-W) transformation. In particular, we provide an exact solution to the problem of the transverse field XY chain with a staggered line defect. We also study the distribution of magnetization and kinks in the transverse field XY chain and show how the dual nature of these quantities manifest itself in the distributions.

Lattice Bisognano-Wichmann modular Hamiltonian in critical quantum spin chains

We carry out a comprehensive comparison between the exact modular Hamiltonian and the lattice version of the Bisognano-Wichmann (BW) one in one-dimensional critical quantum spin chains. As a warm-up, we first illustrate how the trace distance provides a more informative mean of comparison between reduced density matrices when compared to any other Schatten $n$-distance, normalized or not. In particular, as noticed in earlier works, it provides a way to bound other correlation functions in a precise manner, i.e., providing both lower and upper bounds. Additionally, we show that two close reduced density matrices, i.e. with zero trace distance for large sizes, can have very different modular Hamiltonians. This means that, in terms of describing how two states are close to each other, it is more informative to compare their reduced density matrices rather than the corresponding modular Hamiltonians. After setting this framework, we consider the ground states for infinite and periodic XX spin chain and critical Ising chain. We provide robust numerical evidence that the trace distance between the lattice BW reduced density matrix and the exact one goes to zero as $\ell^{-2}$ for large length of the interval $\ell$. This provides strong constraints on the difference between the corresponding entanglement entropies and correlation functions. Our results indicate that discretized BW reduced density matrices reproduce exact entanglement entropies and correlation functions of local operators in the limit of large subsystem sizes. Finally, we show that the BW reduced density matrices fall short of reproducing the exact behavior of the logarithmic emptiness formation probability in the ground state of the XX spin chain.

Scaling of the Formation Probabilities and Universal Boundary Entropies in the Quantum XY Spin Chain

We calculate exactly the probability to find the ground state of the XY chain in a given spin configuration in the transverse $σ^z$-basis. By determining finite-volume corrections to the probabilities for a wide variety of configurations, we obtain the universal Boundary Entropy at the critical point. The latter is a benchmark of the underlying Boundary Conformal Field Theory characterizing each quantum state. To determine the scaling of the probabilities, we prove a theorem that expresses, in a factorized form, the eigenvalues of a sub-matrix of a circulant matrix as functions of the eigenvalues of the original matrix. Finally, the Boundary Entropies are computed by exploiting a generalization of the Euler-MacLaurin formula to non-differentiable functions. It is shown that, in some cases, the spin configuration can flow to a linear superposition of Cardy states. Our methods and tools are rather generic and can be applied to all the periodic quantum chains which map to free-fermionic Hamiltonians.

Entanglement entropy after a partial projective measurement in $1+1$ dimensional conformal field theories: exact results

We calculate analytically the Rényi bipartite entanglement entropy $S_α$ of the ground state of $1+1$ dimensional conformal field theories (CFT) after performing a projective measurement in a part of the system. We show that the entanglement entropy in this setup is dependent on the central charge and the operator content of the system. When the measurement region $A$ separates the two parts $B$ and $\bar{B}$, the entanglement entropy between $B$ and $\bar{B}$ decreases like a power-law with respect to the characteristic distance between the two regions with an exponent which is dependent on the rank $α$ of the Rényi entanglement entropy and the smallest scaling dimension present in the system. We check our findings by making numerical calculations on the Klein-Gordon field theory (coupled harmonic oscillators) after fixing the position (partial measurement) of some of the oscillators. We also comment on the post-measurement entanglement entropy in the massive quantum field theories.

Fate of the area-law after partial measurement in quantum field theories

We calculate numerically the Rényi bipartite entanglement entropy of the ground state of Klein-Gordon field theory (coupled harmonic oscillators) after fixing the position (partial measurement) of some of the oscillators in $d=1,2$ and $3$ dimensions. We show that after partial measurement as far as the two parts are connected the area-law is valid in generic dimensions except in $d=1$ conformal field theories. When due to the measured region the two parts are disconnected, the entanglement entropy decreases exponentially with respect to the minimum distance between the regions. In the massless case the decay is power-law with a universal dimension-dependent exponent.

Finite size corrections to scaling of the formation probabilities and the Casimir effect in the conformal field theories

We calculate formation probabilities of the ground state of the finite size quantum critical chains using conformal field theory (CFT) techniques. In particular, we calculate the formation probability of one interval in the finite open chain and also formation probability of two disjoint intervals in a finite periodic system. The presented formulas can be also interpreted as the Casimir energy of needles in particular geometries. We numerically check the validity of the exact CFT results in the case of the transverse field Ising chain.

Formation probabilities and Shannon information and their time evolution after quantum quench in transverse-field XY-chain

We first provide a formula to calculate the probability of occurrence of different configurations (formation probabilities) in a generic free fermion system. We then study the scaling of these probabilities with respect to the size in the case of critical transverse-field XY-chain in the $σ^z$ bases. In the case of the transverse field Ising model, we show that all the "crystal" configurations follow the formulas expected from conformal field theory (CFT). In the case of critical $XX$ chain, we show that the only configurations that follow the formulas of the CFT are the ones which respect the filling factor of the system. By repeating all the calculations in the presence of open and periodic boundary conditions we find further support to our classification of different configurations. Using the developed technique, we also study Shannon information of a subregion in our system. In this respect we distinguish particular configurations that are more important in the study of the scaling limit of the Shannon information of the subsystem. Finally, we study the evolution of formation probabilities, Shannon information and Shannon mutual information after a quantum quench in free fermion system. In particular, for the intial state considered in this paper, we demonstrate that the Shannon information after quantum quench first increases with the time and then saturates at time $t^*=\frac{l}{2}$, where $l$ is the size of the subsystem.

Formation probabilities in quantum critical chains and Casimir effect

We find a connection between logarithmic formation probabilities of two disjoint intervals of quantum critical spin chains and the Casimir energy of two aligned needles in two dimensional classical critical systems. Using this connection we provide a formula for the logarithmic formation probability of two disjoint intervals in generic $1+1$ dimensional critical systems. The quantity is depenedent on the full structure of the underlying conformal field theory and so useful to find the universality class of the critical system. The connection that we find also provides a very efficient numerical method to calculate the Casimir energy between needles using quantum critical chains. The agreement between numerical results performed on critical transverse field Ising model and XX chain with our exact results is very good. We also comment on the mutual Rényi information of two disjoint intervals.

Generalized mutual informations of quantum critical chains

We study the Rényi mutual information $\tilde{I}_n$ of the ground state of different critical quantum chains. The Rényi mutual information definition that we use is based on the well established concept of the Rényi divergence. We calculate this quantity numerically for several distinct quantum chains having either discrete $Z(Q)$ symmetries (Q-state Potts model with $Q=2,3,4$ and $Z(Q)$ parafermionic models with $Q=5,6,7,8$ and also Ashkin-Teller model with different anisotropies) or the $U(1)$ continuous symmetries(Klein-Gordon field theory, XXZ and spin-1 Fateev-Zamolodchikov quantum chains with different anisotropies). For the spin chains these calculations were done by expressing the ground-state wavefunctions in two special basis. Our results indicate some general behavior for particular ranges of values of the parameter $n$ that defines $\tilde{I}_n$. For a system, with total size $L$ and subsystem sizes $\ell$ and $L-\ell$, the$\tilde{I}_n$ has a logarithmic leading behavior given by $\frac{\tilde{c}_n}{4}\log(\frac{L}π\sin(\frac{π\ell}{L}))$ where the coefficient $\tilde{c}_n$ is linearly dependent on the central charge $c$ of the underlying conformal field theory (CFT) describing the system's critical properties.

Post measurement bipartite entanglement entropy in conformal field theories

We derive exact formulas for bipartite von Neumann entanglement entropy after partial projective local measurement in $1+1$ dimensional conformal field theories with periodic and open boundary conditions. After defining the set up we will check numerically the validity of our results in the case of Klein-Gordon field theory (coupled harmonic oscillators) and spin-$1/2$ XX chain in a magnetic field. The agreement between analytical results and the numerical calculations is very good. We also find a lower bound for localizable entanglement in coupled harmonic oscillators.

Quantum quench in long-range field theories

We study equilibration properties of observables in long-range field theories after the mass quench in $d=1,2$ and $3$ dimensions. We classify the regimes where we expect equilibration or its absence in different dimensions. In addition we study the effect of the initial state in the equilibration properties of our system. In the case of free field theories we show that whenever we have equilibration the long-time limit of correlations can be described by the Generalized Gibbs Ensemble. We prove that all integrals of motions in our system are non-local.

Entanglement dynamics in short and long-range harmonic oscillators

We study the time evolution of the entanglement entropy in the short and long-range coupled harmonic oscillators that have well-defined continuum limit field theories. We first introduce a method to calculate the entanglement evolution in generic coupled harmonic oscillators after quantum quench. Then we study the entanglement evolution after quantum quench in harmonic systems that the couplings decay effectively as $1/r^{d+α}$ with the distance $r$. After quenching the mass from non-zero value to zero we calculate numerically the time evolution of von Neumann and Rényi entropies. We show that for $1<α<2$ we have a linear growth of entanglement and then saturation independent of the initial state. For $0<α<1$ depending on the initial state we can have logarithmic growth or just fluctuation of entanglement. We also calculate the mutual information dynamics of two separated individual harmonic oscillators. Our findings suggest that in our system there is no particular connection between having a linear growth of entanglement after quantum quench and having a maximum group velocity or generalized Lieb-Robinson bound.

Universal behavior of the Shannon and Rényi mutual information of quantum critical chains

We study the Shannon and Rényi mutual information (MI) in the ground state (GS) of different critical quantum spin chains. Despite the apparent basis dependence of these quantities we show the existence of some particular basis (we will call them conformal basis) whose finite-size scaling function is related to the central charge $c$ of the underlying conformal field theory of the model. In particular, we verified that for large index $n$, the MI of a subsystem of size $\ell$ in a periodic chain with $L$ sites behaves as $\frac{c}{4}\frac{n}{n-1}\ln\Big{(}\frac{L}π\sin(\frac{π\ell}{L})\Big{)}$, when the ground-state wavefunction is expressed in these special conformal basis. This is in agreement with recent predictions. For generic local basis we will show that, although in some cases $b_n\ln\Big{(}\frac{L}π\sin(\frac{π\ell}{L})\Big{)}$ is a good fit to our numerical data, in general there is no direct relation between $b_n$ and the central charge of the system. We will support our findings with detailed numerical calculations for the transverse field Ising model, $Q=3,4$ quantum Potts chain, quantum Ashkin-Teller chain and the XXZ quantum chain. We will also present some additional results of the Shannon mutual information ($n=1$), for the parafermionic $Z_Q$ quantum chains with $Q=5,6,7$ and $8$.

Entanglement entropy in long-range harmonic oscillators

We study the Von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropy of long-range harmonic oscillators (LRHO) by both theoretical and numerical means. We show that the entanglement entropy in massless harmonic oscillators increases logarithmically with the sub-system size as $S=\frac{c_{eff}}{3}\log l$. Although the entanglement entropy of LRHO's shares some similarities with the entanglement entropy at conformal critical points we show that the Rényi entanglement entropy presents some deviations from the expected conformal behavior. In the massive case we demonstrate that the behavior of the entanglement entropy with respect to the correlation length is also logarithmic as the short range case.

Influence of long-range interactions on the critical behavior of the Ising model

We study the ferromagnetic Ising model with long-range interactions in two dimensions. We first present results of a Monte Carlo study which shows that the long-range interactions dominate over the short-range ones in the intermediate regime of interaction range. Based on a renormalization group analysis, we propose a way of computing the influence of the long-range interactions as a dimensional change.

Quantum entanglement entropy and classical mutual information in long-range harmonic oscillators

We study different aspects of quantum von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropy of one dimensional long-range harmonic oscillators that can be described by well-defined non-local field theories. We show that the entanglement entropy of one interval with respect to the rest changes logarithmically with the number of oscillators inside the subsystem. This is true also in the presence of different boundary conditions. We show that the coefficients of the logarithms coming from different boundary conditions can be reduced to just two different universal coefficients. We also study the effect of the mass and temperature on the entanglement entropy of the system in different situations. The universality of our results is also confirmed by changing different parameters in the coupled harmonic oscillators. We also show that more general interactions coming from general singular Toeplitz matrices can be decomposed to our long-range harmonic oscillators. Despite the long-range nature of the couplings we show that the area law is valid in two dimensions and the universal logarithmic terms appear if we consider subregions with sharp corners. Finally we study analytically different aspects of the mutual information such as its logarithmic dependence to the subsystem, effect of mass and influence of the boundary. We also generalize our results in this case to general singular Toeplitz matrices and higher dimensions.

Quantum Quench of the trap frequency in the harmonic Calogero model

We consider a quantum quench of the trap frequency in a system of bosons interacting through an inverse-square potential and confined in a harmonic trap (the harmonic Calogero model). We determine exactly the initial state in terms of the post-quench eigenstates and derive the time evolution of simple physical observables. Since this model possesses an infinite set of integrals of motion (IoM) that allow its exact solution, a generalised Gibbs ensemble (GGE), i.e. a statistical ensemble that takes into account the conservation of all IoM, can be proposed in order to describe the values of local physical observables long after the quench. Even though, due to the presence of the trap, physical observables do not exhibit equilibration but periodic evolution, such a GGE may still describe correctly their time averaged values. We check this analytically for the local boson density and find that the GGE conjecture is indeed valid, in the thermodynamic limit.

Universal behavior of the Shannon mutual information of critical quantum chains

We consider the Shannon mutual information of subsystems of critical quantum chains in their ground states. Our results indicate a universal leading behavior for large subsystem sizes. Moreover, as happens with the entanglement entropy, its finite-size behavior yields the conformal anomaly $c$ of the underlying conformal field theory governing the long distance physics of the quantum chain. We studied analytically a chain of coupled harmonic oscillators and numerically the Q-state Potts models ($Q = 2$; 3 and 4), the XXZ quantum chain and the spin-1 Fateev-Zamolodchikov model. The Shannon mutual information is a quantity easily computed, and our results indicate that for relatively small lattice sizes its finite-size behavior already detects the universality class of quantum critical behavior.

Universality and conformal non-invariance in self-affine rough surfaces

We show numerically that the roughness and growth exponents of a wide range of rough surfaces, such as random deposition with relaxation (RDR), ballistic deposition (BD) and restricted solid-on-solid model (RSOS), are independent of the underlying regular (square, triangular, honeycomb) or random (Voronoi) lattices. In addition we show that the universality holds also at the level of statistical properties of the iso-height lines on different lattices. This universality is revealed by calculating the fractal dimension, loop correlation exponent and the length distribution exponent of the individual contours. We also indicate that the hyperscaling relations are valid for the iso-height lines of all the studied Gaussian and non-Gaussian self-affine rough surfaces. Finally using the direct method of Langlands et.al we show that the contour lines of the rough surfaces are not conformally invariant except when we have simple Gaussian free field theory with zero roughness exponent.

Geometrical exponents of contour loops on synthetic multifractal rough surfaces: multiplicative hierarchical cascade p-model

In this paper, we study many geometrical properties of contour loops to characterize the morphology of synthetic multifractal rough surfaces, which are generated by multiplicative hierarchical cascading processes. To this end, two different classes of multifractal rough surfaces are numerically simulated. As the first group, singular measure multifractal rough surfaces are generated by using the $p$ model. The smoothened multifractal rough surface then is simulated by convolving the first group with a so-called Hurst exponent, $H^*$ . The generalized multifractal dimension of isoheight lines (contours), $D(q)$, correlation exponent of contours, $x_l$, cumulative distributions of areas, $ξ$, and perimeters, $η$, are calculated for both synthetic multifractal rough surfaces. Our results show that for both mentioned classes, hyperscaling relations for contour loops are the same as that of monofractal systems. In contrast to singular measure multifractal rough surfaces, $H^*$ plays a leading role in smoothened multifractal rough surfaces. All computed geometrical exponents for the first class depend not only on its Hurst exponent but also on the set of $p$ values. But in spite of multifractal nature of smoothened surfaces (second class), the corresponding geometrical exponents are controlled by $H^*$, the same as what happens for monofractal rough surfaces.

Contour lines of the discrete scale invariant rough surfaces

We study the fractal properties of the 2d discrete scale invariant (DSI) rough surfaces. The contour lines of these rough surfaces show clear DSI. In the appropriate limit the DSI surfaces converge to the scale invariant rough surfaces. The fractal properties of the 2d DSI rough surfaces apart from possessing the discrete scale invariance property follow the properties of the contour lines of the corresponding scale invariant rough surfaces. We check this hypothesis by calculating numerous fractal exponents of the contour lines by using numerical calculations. Apart from calculating the known scaling exponents some other new fractal exponents are also calculated.

Critical domain walls in the Ashkin-Teller model

We study the fractal properties of interfaces in the 2d Ashkin-Teller model. The fractal dimension of the symmetric interfaces is calculated along the critical line of the model in the interval between the Ising and the four-states Potts models. Using Schramm's formula for crossing probabilities we show that such interfaces can not be related to the simple SLE$_κ$, except for the Ising point. The same calculation on non-symmetric interfaces is performed at the four-states Potts model: the fractal dimension is compatible with the result coming from Schramm's formula, and we expect a simple SLE$_κ$ in this case.

Entanglement entropy of two disjoint intervals from fusion algebra of twist fields

We study the entanglement and Renyi entropies of two disjoint intervals in minimal models of conformal field theory. We use the conformal block expansion and fusion rules of twist fields to define a systematic expansion in the elliptic parameter of the trace of the n-th power of the reduced density matrix. Keeping only the first few terms we obtain an approximate expression that is easily analytically continued to n->1, leading to an approximate formula for the entanglement entropy. These predictions are checked against some known exact results as well as against existing numerical data.

First passage time processes and subordinated SLE

We study the first passage time processes of anomalous diffusion on self similar curves in two dimensions. The scaling properties of the mean square displacement and mean first passage time of the ballistic motion, fractional Brownian motion and subordinated walk on different fractal curves (loop erased random walk, harmonic explorer and percolation front) are derived. We also define natural parametrized subordinated Schramm Loewner evolution (NS-SLE) as a mathematical tool that can model diffusion on fractal curves. The scaling properties of the mean square displacement and mean first passage time for NS-SLE are obtained by numerical means.

Spin interfaces in the Ashkin-Teller model and SLE

We investigate the scaling properties of the spin interfaces in the Ashkin-Teller model. These interfaces are a very simple instance of lattice curves coexisting with a fluctuating degree of freedom, which renders the analytical determination of their exponents very difficult. One of our main findings is the construction of boundary conditions which ensure that the interface still satisfies the Markov property in this case. Then, using a novel technique based on the transfer matrix, we compute numerically the left-passage probability, and our results confirm that the spin interface is described by an SLE in the scaling limit. Moreover, at a particular point of the critical line, we describe a mapping of Ashkin-Teller model onto an integrable 19-vertex model, which, in turn, relates to an integrable dilute Brauer model.

Different geometrical aspects of this critical surface are discussed, especially their connection to the anisotropy angle. The free energy of the model on the generic iso-radial graph is extracted using the inversion identities. In addition, lattice holomorphic variables are discussed at some particular points of the critical line. We check our conjectures numerically for the anisotropic triangular-lattice Ashkin-Teller model.

Discrete scale invariance and stochastic Loewner evolution

In complex systems with fractal properties the scale invariance has an important rule to classify different statistical properties. In two dimensions the Loewner equation can classify all the fractal curves. Using the Weierstrass-Mandelbrot (WM) function as the drift of the Loewner equation we introduce a large class of fractal curves with discrete scale invariance (DSI). We show that the fractal dimension of the curves can be extracted from the diffusion coefficient of the trend of the variance of the WM function. We argue that, up to the fractal dimension calculations, all the WM functions follow the behavior of the corresponding Brownian motion. Our study opens a way to classify all the fractal curves with DSI. In particular, we investigate the contour lines of 2D WM function as a physical candidate for our new stochastic curves.

Boundary conformal field theories and loop models

We propose a systematic method to extract conformal loop models for rational conformal field theories (CFT). Method is based on defining an ADE model for boundary primary operators by using the fusion matrices of these operators as adjacency matrices. These loop models respect the conformal boundary conditions. We discuss the loop models that can be extracted by this method for minimal CFTs and then we will give dilute O(n) loop models on the square lattice as examples for these loop models. We give also some proposals for WZW SU(2) models.

Discretely Holomorphic Parafermions in Lattice Z(N) Models

We construct lattice parafermions - local products of order and disorder operators - in nearest-neighbor Z(N) models on regular isotropic planar lattices, and show that they are discretely holomorphic, that is they satisfy discrete Cauchy-Riemann equations, precisely at the critical Fateev-Zamolodchikov (FZ) integrable points. We generalize our analysis to models with anisotropic interactions, showing that, as long as the lattice is correctly embedded in the plane, such discretely holomorphic parafermions exist for particular values of the couplings which we identify as the anisotropic FZ points. These results extend to more general inhomogeneous lattice models as long as the covering lattice admits a rhombic embedding in the plane.

Explicit Renormalization Group for D=2 random bond Ising model with long-range correlated disorder

We investigate the explicit renormalization group for fermionic field theoretic representation of two-dimensional random bond Ising model with long-range correlated disorder. We show that a new fixed point appears by introducing a long-range correlated disorder. Such as the one has been observed in previous works for the bosonic ($ϕ^4$) description. We have calculated the correlation length exponent and the anomalous scaling dimension of fermionic fields at this fixed point. Our results are in agreement with the extended Harris criterion derived by Weinrib and Halperin.
