Gravitational Wave Imprints of Left-Right Symmetric Model with Minimal Higgs Sector

We study the gravitational wave imprints of left-right symmetric model equipped with universal seesaw mechanism allowing for the natural generation of hierarchical masses of the Standard Model fermions. The scalar sector of this model is the minimal one, consisting of only two Higgs doublets. Following the construction of the full thermal potential for this model, we perform a scan of the entire parameter space and identify the region in which the cosmic phase transition associated with the left-right symmetry breaking gives gravitational wave signals detectable by a variety of planned space-based interferometers. Then we also discuss the relevant collider implications of this beyond the Standard Model scenario.

Theoretical developments in the SMEFT at dimension-8 and beyond

In this contribution to the Snowmass 2021 process we review theoretical developments in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) with a focus on effects at the dimension-8 level and beyond. We review the theoretical advances that led to the complete construction of the operator bases for the dimension-8 and dimension-9 SMEFT Lagrangians. We discuss the possibility of obtaining all-orders results in the $1/Λ$ expansion for certain SMEFT observables as well as the current status of renormalization group running and implications for positivity, and briefly present the on-shell approach to constructing SMEFT amplitudes. Finally we present several new phenomenological effects that first arise at dimension-8 and discuss the impact of these terms on experimental analyses.

Unraveling the $0νββ$ Decay Mechanisms

We discuss the possibilities of distinguishing among different mechanisms of neutrinoless double beta decay arising in the effective field theory framework. Following the review and detailed investigation of the particular ways of discrimination, we conclude that the 32 different low-energy effective operators can be split into multiple groups that are in principle distinguishable from each other by measurements of the phase-space observables and by comparison of the decay rates obtained using different isotopes. This would require not only a substantial experimental precision but necessarily also a considerable improvement of the current theoretical knowledge of the underlying nuclear physics. Specifically, the limiting aspect in our approach turns out to be the currently unknown or uncertain values of low-energy constants. Besides the study adopting the effective field theory language we also look into several typical UV models.
