ηη and η′η' mesons from Nf=2+1N_f = 2+1 lattice QCD at the physical point using topological charge operators

By fitting the two-point correlation functions of topological charge density operators calculated on two 2+12+1-flavor gauge ensembles with physical pion mass, we determine both the ηη and η′η' masses and also the mixing angle to be mη=0.505(72)(75)m_η= 0.505(72)(75) GeV, mη′=0.952(47)(40)m_{η'}=0.952(47)(40) GeV, and θ1=−8.9(2.1)(1.8)∘θ_1 = -8.9(2.1)(1.8)^\circ, respectively, where the first error is the statistical uncertainty and the second one is the systematic uncertainty. This is the first extraction of both η/η′η/η' masses and the mixing angle θ1θ_1 using topological charge operators. Compared with previous studies using quark bilinear operators, the error of the ηη mass is relatively large, but the mixing angle has comparable precision. This demonstrates that the topological charge operators are well suited to study the ηη and η′η' mesons.

The Glueball content of ηcη_c

We carry out the first lattice QCD derivation of the mixing energy and the mixing angle of the pseudoscalar charmonium and glueball on two gauge ensembles with Nf=2N_f=2 degenerate dynamical charm quarks. The mixing energy is determined to be 49(6)49(6) MeV on the near physical charm ensemble, which seems insensitive to charm quark mass. By the assumption that X(2370)X(2370) is predominantly a pseudoscalar glueball, the mixing angle is determined to be approximately 4.6(6)∘4.6(6)^\circ, which results in a +3.9(9)+3.9(9) MeV mass shift of the ground state pseudoscalar charmonium. In the mean time, the mixing can raise the total width of the pseudoscalar charmonium by 7.2(8) MeV, which explains to some extent the relative large total width of the ηcη_c meson. As a result, the branching fraction of ηc→γγη_c\to γγ can be understood in this ccˉc\bar{c}-glueball mixing framework. On the other hand, the possible discrepancy of the theoretical predictions and the experimental results of the partial width of J/ψ→γηcJ/ψ\toγη_c cannot be alleviated by the ccˉc\bar{c}-glueball mixing picture yet, which demands future precise experimental measurements of this partial width.

Canonical interpretation of Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) in the ΥΥ family

Inspired by the new resonance Y(10750)Y(10750), we calculate the masses and two-body OZI-allowed strong decays of the higher vector bottomonium sates within both screened and linear potential models. We discuss the possibilities of Υ(10860)Υ(10860) and Y(10750)Y(10750) as mixed states via the S−DS-D mixing. Our results suggest that Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) might be explained as mixed states between 5S5S- and 4D4D-wave vector bbˉb\bar{b} states. The Y(10750)Y(10750) and Υ(10860)Υ(10860) resonances may correspond to the mixed states dominated by the 4D4D- and 5S5S-wave components, respectively. The mass and the strong decay behaviors of the Υ(11020)Υ(11020) resonance are consistent with the assignment of the Υ(6S)Υ(6S) state in the potential models.

Radiative transitions of charmonium states in a constituent quark model

We study the electromagnetic (EM) transitions of the nSnS, nPnP (n≤3n\leq 3), and nDnD (n≤2n\leq 2) charmonium states with a constituent quark model. We obtain a reasonable description of the EM transitions of the well-established charmonium states J/ψJ/ψ, ψ(2S)ψ(2S), χcJ(1P)χ_{cJ}(1P), hc(1P)h_c(1P) and ψ(3770)ψ(3770). We find that the M2 transitions give notable corrections to some E1 dominant processes by interfering with the E1 transitions. Our predictions of EM decay properties for the higher charmonium states are also presented and compared with other model predictions. In particular, we discuss the EM decay properties of some "XYZ""XYZ" states, such as X(3823)X(3823), X(3872)X(3872), X(3915)X(3915), X(3940)X(3940) and X(4350)X(4350) as conventional charmonium states. Assuming X(3872)X(3872) as the χc1(2P)χ_{c1}(2P) state, our predicted ratio Γ[X(3872)→ψ(2S)γ]/Γ[X(3872)→J/ψγ]≃4.0Γ[X(3872)\to ψ(2S)γ]/Γ[X(3872)\to J/ψγ]\simeq 4.0 is consistent with BaBar's measurement.

Wave functions of SU(3)SU(3) pure gauge glueballs on the lattice

The Bethe-Salpeter wave functions of SU(3)SU(3) pure gauge glueballs are revisited in this study. The ground and the first excited states of scalar and tensor glueballs are identified unambiguously by using the variational method on the basis of large operator sets. We calculate their wave functions in the Coulomb gauge and use two lattices with different lattice spacings to check the discretization artifacts. For ground states, the radial wave functions are approximately Gaussian and the size of the tensor is twice as large as that of the scalar. For the first excited states, the radial nodes are clearly observed for both the scalar and the tensor glueballs, such that they can be interpreted as the first radial excitations. These observations may shed light on the theoretical understanding of the inner structure of glueballs.

Glueballs in charmonia radiative decays

Scalar \cite{scalar_paper} and tensor \cite{tensor_paper} glueballs created in J/ψJ/ψ radiative decays are studied in quenched lattice QCD. Using two anisotropic lattices to approach the continuum limit, we compute the relevant form factors responsible for the decay rates for J/ψ→γG0++J/ψ\rightarrowγG_{0^{++}} and J/ψ→γG2++J/ψ\rightarrowγG_{2^{++}}. Comparing with the existing experimental data, it is argued that f0(1710)f_0(1710) is a favorable candidate for scalar glueball. The decay rate for J/ψ→γG2++J/ψ\rightarrowγG_{2^{++}} is found to be quite substantial. A comprehensive search in the tensor channel on BESIII is therefore suggested.

Oscillatory behavior of the domain wall fermions revisited

In the generic domain wall fermion formulation of chiral fermions on the lattice, the zero modes of the four-dimensional Wilson fermion operator with the negative mass parameter −M5-M_5 introduce unphysical massive modes propagating in the four-dimensional spacetime. In the free fermion case, the pole mass of this kind of unphysical modes is given by E~=ln⁡(1−M5)\tilde{E}=\ln(1-M_5), which acquires an imaginary part, iπiπ, when M5>1M_5>1 and results in an oscillatory behavior of the domain wall fermion propagator in time. The existence of the unphysical modes in the presence of gauge fields is investigated in the mean field approximation, and their physical consequences are discussed. In addition, we also give a semiquantitative criterion for tuning M5M_5 in the realistic numerical study.

Lattice Study of Radiative J/ψJ/ψ Decay to a Tensor Glueball

The radiative decay of J/ψJ/ψ into a pure gauge tensor glueball is studied in the quenched lattice QCD formalism. With two anisotropic lattices, the mutlipole amplitudes E_1(0), M_2(0) and E_3(0) are obtained to be 0.114(12)(6)GeV, -0.011(5)(1)GeV, and 0.023(8)(1)GeV, respectively. The first error comes from the statistics, the Q^2 interpolation, and the continuum extrapolation, while the second is due to the uncertainty of the scale parameter r_0^{-1}=410(20) MeV. Thus the partial decay width Γ(J/ψ→γG2++)Γ(J/ψ\rightarrow γG_{2^{++}}) is estimated to be 1.01(22)(10) keV which corresponds to a large branch ratio 1.1(2)(1)x10^{-2}. The phenomenological implication of this result is also discussed.

Lattice study on ηc2η_{c2} and X(3872)

Properties of 2−+2^{-+} charmonium ηc2η_{c2} are investigated in quenched lattice QCD. The mass of ηc2η_{c2} is determined to be 3.80(3) GeV, which is close to the mass of DD-wave charmonium ψ(3770)ψ(3770) and in agreement with quark model predictions. The transition width of ηc2→γJ/ψη_{c2}\to γJ/ψ is also obtained with a value Γ=3.8(9)Γ=3.8(9) keV. Since the possible 2−+2^{-+} assignment to X(3872) has not been ruled out by experiments, our results help to clarify the nature of X(3872).

Scalar Glueball in Radiative J/ψJ/ψ Decay on Lattice

The form factors in the radiative decay of J/ψJ/ψ to a scalar glueball are studied within quenched lattice QCD on anisotropic lattices. The continuum extrapolation is carried out by using two different lattice spacings. With the results of these form factors, the partial width of J/ψJ/ψ radiatively decaying into the pure gauge scalar glueball is predicted to be 0.35(8) keV, which corresponds to a branching ratio of 3.8(9)x10^{-3}. By comparing with the experiments, out results indicate that f_0(1710) has a larger overlap with the pure gauge glueball than other related scalar mesons.
