Weighted Cuntz Algebras

We study the C∗C^*-algebra T/K\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{K} where T\mathcal{T} is the C∗C^*-algebra generated by dd weighted shifts on the Fock space of Cd\mathbb{C}^d, F(Cd)\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C}^d), ( where the weights are given by a sequence {Zk}\{Z_k\} of matrices Zk∈Mdk(C)Z_k\in M_{d^k}(\mathbb{C})) and K\mathcal{K} is the algebra of compact operators on the Fock space. If Zk=IZ_k=I for every kk, T/K\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{K} is the Cuntz algebra Od\mathcal{O}_d. We show that T/K\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{K} is isomorphic to a Cuntz-Pimsner algebra and use it to find conditions for the algebra to be simple. We present examples of simple and of non simple algebras of this type. We also describe the C∗C^*-representations of T/K\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{K}.

Generalized Inner-Outer Factorization in non commutative Hardy Algebras

Let H∞(E)H^{\infty}(E) be a non commutative Hardy algebra, associated with a W∗W^*-correspondence EE. In this paper we construct factorizations of inner-outer type of the elements of H∞(E)H^{\infty}(E) represented via the induced representation, and of the elements of its commutant. These factorizations generalize the classical inner-outer factorization of elements of H∞(D)H^\infty(\mathbb{D}). Our results also generalize some results that were obtained by several authors in some special cases.

Reflexivity of non commutative Hardy Algebras

Let H∞(E)H^{\infty}(E) be a non commutative Hardy algebra, associated with a W∗W^*-correspondence EE. These algebras were introduced in 2004, ~\cite{MuS3}, by P. Muhly and B. Solel, and generalize the classical Hardy algebra of the unit disc H∞(D)H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D}). As a special case one obtains also the algebra F∞\mathcal{F}^{\infty} of Popescu, which is H∞(Cn)H^{\infty}(\mathbb{C}^n) in our setting. In this paper we view the algebra H∞(E)H^\infty(E) as acting on a Hilbert space via an induced representation ρ(H∞(E))ρ(H^{\infty}(E)), and we study the reflexivity of ρ(H∞(E))ρ(H^{\infty}(E)). This question was studied by A. Arias and G. Popescu in the context of the algebra F∞\mathcal{F}^{\infty}, and by other authors in several other special cases. As it will be clear from our work, the extension to the case of a general W∗W^*-correspondence EE over a general W∗W^*-algebra MM requires new techniques and approach. We obtain some partial results in the general case and we turn to the case of a correspondence over factor. Under some additional assumptions on the representation π:M→B(H)π:M\rightarrow B(H) we show that ρπ(H∞(E))ρ_π(H^{\infty}(E)) is reflexive. Then we apply these results to analytic crossed products ρ(H∞( αM))ρ(H^{\infty}(\ _αM)) and obtain their reflexivity for any automorphism α∈Aut(M)α\in Aut(M) whenever MM is a factor. Finally, we show also the reflexivity of the compression of the Hardy algebra to a suitable coinvariant subspace M\mathfrak{M}, which may be thought of as a generalized symmetric Fock space.
