Markoff-Rosenberger triples and generalized Lucas sequences

We consider the Markoff-Rosenberger equation ax2+by2+cz2=dxyzax^2+by^2+cz^2=dxyz with (x,y,z)=(Ui,Uj,Uk),(x,y,z)=(U_i,U_j,U_k), where UiU_i denotes the ii-th generalized Lucas number of first/second kind. We provide upper bound for the minimum of the indices and we apply the result to completely resolve concrete equations, e.g. we determine solutions containing only balancing numbers and Jacobsthal numbers, respectively.

S-Diophantine quadruples with S={2,q}\mathbf{S=\{2,q\}}

Let SS denote a set of primes and let a1,…,ama_1,\ldots,a_m be positive distinct integers. We call the mm-tuple (a1,…,am)(a_1,\ldots,a_m) an SS-Diophantine tuple if aiaj+1=si,ja_ia_j+1=s_{i,j} are SS-integers for all i≠ji\not=j. In this paper, we show that no SS-Diophantine quadruple (i.e~m=4m=4) exists if S={2,q}S=\{2,q\} with q≡3  ( mod  4)q\equiv 3\; (\bmod\, 4) or q<109q<10^9. For two arbitrary primes p,q<105p,q<10^5 we gain the same result.
