Global existence for a 3D non-stationary Stokes flow with Coulomb's type friction boundary conditions

In this paper we study non stationary viscous incompressible fluid flows with nonlinear boundary slip conditions given by a subdifferential property of friction type. More precisely we assume that the tangential velocity vanishes as long as the shear stress remains below a threshold, that may depend on the time and the position variables but also on the stress tensor, allowing to consider Coulomb's type friction laws. An existence and uniqueness theorem is obtained first when the shear stress threshold is a data and sharp estimates are derived for the velocity and pressure fields as well as for the stress tensor. Then an existence result is proved for the non-local Coulomb's friction case by using a successive approximation technique with respect to the shear stress threshold.

Unsteady 3D-Navier-Stokes System with Tresca's Friction Law

Motivated by extrusion problems, we consider a non-stationary incompress-ible 3D fluid flow with a non-constant (temperature dependent) viscosity, subjected to mixed boundary conditions with a given time dependent velocity on a part of the boundary and Tresca's friction law on the other part. We construct a sequence of approximate solutions by using a regularization of the free boundary condition due to friction combined with a particular penalty method, reminiscent of the " incompressibility limit " of compressible fluids, allowing to get better insights into the links between the fluid velocity and pressure fields. Then we pass to the limit with compactness arguments to obtain a solution to our original problem.

Asymptotic analysis of a micropolar fluid flow in a thin domain with a free and rough boundary

Motivated by lubrication problems, we consider a micropolar uid ow in a 2D domain with a rough and free boundary. We assume that the thickness and the roughness are both of order 0 < " << 1. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution of this problem for any value of " and we establish some a priori estimates. Then we use the two-scale convergence technique to derive the limit problem when " tends to zero. Moreover we show that the limit velocity and micro-rotation elds are uniquely determined via auxiliary well-posed problems and the limit pressure is given as the unique solution of a Reynolds equation.

Existence result for a class of generalized standard materials with thermomechanical coupling

This paper deals with the study of a three-dimensional model of thermomechanical coupling for viscous solids exhibiting hysteresis effects. This model is written in accordance with the formalism of generalized standard materials and it is composed of the momentum equilibrium equation combined with the flow rule, which describes some stress-strain dependance, coupled to the heat-transfer equation. More precisely, the coupling terms are linear with respect to the temperature and the displacement and non linear with respect to the internal variable. The main mathematical difficulty lies in the fact that the natural framework for the right-hand side of the heat equation is the space of L1 functions. A local existence result for this thermodynamically consistent problem is obtained by using a fixed-point argument. Then the solutions are proved to be physically admissible and global existence is discussed under some additional assumptions on the data.

Global existence result for phase transformations with heat transfer in shape memory alloys

We consider three-dimensional models for rate-independent processes describing materials undergoing phase transformations with heat transfer. The problem is formulated within the framework of generalized standard solids by the coupling of the momentum equilibrium equation and the flow rule with the heat transfer equation. Under appropriate regularity assumptions on the initial data, we prove the existence a global solution for this thermodynamically consistent system, by using a fixed-point argument combined with global energy estimates.
