Effects of drug resistance in the tumour-immune system with chemotherapy treatment

Cancer is a term used to refer to a large set of diseases. The cancerous cells grow and divide and, as a result, they form tumours that grow in size. The immune system recognise the cancerous cells and attack them, though, it can be weakened by the cancer. One type of cancer treatment is chemotherapy, which uses drugs to kill cancer cells. Clinical, experimental, and theoretical research has been developed to understand the dynamics of cancerous cells with chemotherapy treatment, as well as the interaction between tumour growth and immune system. We study a mathematical model that describes the cancer growth, immune system response, and chemotherapeutic agents. The immune system is composed of resting cells that are converted to hunting cells to combat the cancer. In this work, we consider drug sensitive and resistant cancer cells. We show that the tumour growth can be controlled not only by means of different chemotherapy protocols, but also by the immune system that attacks both sensitive and resistant cancer cells. Furthermore, for all considered protocols, we demonstrate that the time delay from resting to hunting cells plays a crucial role in the combat against cancer cells.

Synchronization stability and circuit experiment of hyperchaos with time delay using impulse control

Secure communication using hyperchaos has a better potential performance, but hyperchaotic impulse circuits synchronization is a challenging task. In this paper, an impulse control method is proposed for the synchronization of two hyperchaotic Chen circuits. The sufficient conditions for the synchronization of hyperchaotic systems using the impulse control are given. The upper bound of the impulse interval is derived to assure the synchronization error system to be asymptotically stable. Simulation and circuit experiment show the correctness of the analysis and feasibility of the proposed method.

Spin transport in n-type single-layer transition metal dichalcogenides

Valley asymmetry of the electron spectrum in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) originates from the spin-orbit coupling. Presence of spin-orbit fields of opposite signs for electrons in K and K' valleys in combination with possibility of intervalley scattering result in a nontrivial spin dynamics. This dynamics is reflected in the dependence of nonlocal resistance on external magnetic field (the Hanle curve). We calculate theoretically the Hanle shape in TMDs. It appears that, unlike conventional materials without valley asymmetry, the Hanle shape in TMDs is different for normal and parallel orientations of the external field. For normal orientation, it has two peaks for slow intervalley scattering, while, for fast intervalley scattering the shape is usual. For parallel orientation, the Hanle curve exhibits a cusp at zero field. This cusp is a signature of a slow-decaying valley-asymmetric mode of the spin dynamics.

Parametrization in the progressively enlarged filtration

In this paper, we assume that the filtration $\bb F$ is generated by a $d$-dimensional Brownian motion $W=(W_1,\cdots,W_d)'$ as well as an integer-valued random measure $μ(du,dy)$. The random variable $\ttau$ is the default time and $L$ is the default loss. Let $\mathbb G=\{\scr G_t;t\geq 0\}$ be the progressive enlargement of $\bb F$ by $(\ttau,L)$, i.e, $\bb G$ is the smallest filtration including $\bb F$ such that $\ttau$ is a $\bb G$-stopping time and $L$ is $\scr G_\ttau$-measurable. We parameterize the conditional density process, which allows us to describe the survival process $G$ explicitly. We also obtain the explicit $\bb G$-decomposition of a $\bb F$ martingale and the predictable representation theorem for a $(P,\bb G)$-martingale by all known parameters. Formula parametrization in the enlarged filtration is a useful quality in financial modeling.
