Intelligent Credit Limit Management in Consumer Loans Based on Causal Inference

Nowadays consumer loan plays an important role in promoting the economic growth, and credit cards are the most popular consumer loan. One of the most essential parts in credit cards is the credit limit management. Traditionally, credit limits are adjusted based on limited heuristic strategies, which are developed by experienced professionals. In this paper, we present a data-driven approach to manage the credit limit intelligently. Firstly, a conditional independence testing is conducted to acquire the data for building models. Based on these testing data, a response model is then built to measure the heterogeneous treatment effect of increasing credit limits (i.e. treatments) for different customers, who are depicted by several control variables (i.e. features). In order to incorporate the diminishing marginal effect, a carefully selected log transformation is introduced to the treatment variable. Moreover, the model's capability can be further enhanced by applying a non-linear transformation on features via GBDT encoding. Finally, a well-designed metric is proposed to properly measure the performances of compared methods. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Large-scale Uncertainty Estimation and Its Application in Revenue Forecast of SMEs

The economic and banking importance of the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector is well recognized in contemporary society. Business credit loans are very important for the operation of SMEs, and the revenue is a key indicator of credit limit management. Therefore, it is very beneficial to construct a reliable revenue forecasting model. If the uncertainty of an enterprise's revenue forecasting can be estimated, a more proper credit limit can be granted. Natural gradient boosting approach, which estimates the uncertainty of prediction by a multi-parameter boosting algorithm based on the natural gradient. However, its original implementation is not easy to scale into big data scenarios, and computationally expensive compared to state-of-the-art tree-based models (such as XGBoost). In this paper, we propose a Scalable Natural Gradient Boosting Machines that is simple to implement, readily parallelizable, interpretable and yields high-quality predictive uncertainty estimates. According to the characteristics of revenue distribution, we derive an uncertainty quantification function. We demonstrate that our method can distinguish between samples that are accurate and inaccurate on revenue forecasting of SMEs. What's more, interpretability can be naturally obtained from the model, satisfying the financial needs.

Magnitude and Spatial Distribution Control of the Supercurrent in Bi2O2Se-Based Josephson Junction

Many proposals in exploring topological quantum computation are based on superconducting quantum devices constructed on materials with strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC). For these devices, a full control on both the magnitude and the spatial distribution of the supercurrent would be highly demanded, but has been elusive up to now. We constructed proximity-type Josephson junction on nanoplates of Bi2O2Se, a new emerging semiconductor with strong SOC. Through electrical gating, we show that the supercurrent can be fully turned ON and OFF, and its real-space pathways can be configured either through the bulk or along the edges. Our work demonstrates Bi2O2Se as a promising platform for constructing multifunctional hybrid superconducting devices as well as for searching for topological superconductivity.

Chemical doping and high pressure studies of layered beta-PdBi2 single crystals

We have systematically grown large single crystals of layered compound beta-PdBi2, both the hole-doped PdBi2-xPbx and the electron-doped NaxPdBi2, and studied their magnetic and transport properties. Hall-effect measurement on PdBi2, PdBi1.8Pb0.2, and Na0.057PdBi2 shows that the charge transport is dominated by electrons in all of the samples. The electron concentration is substantially reduced upon Pb-doping in PdBi2-xPbx and increased upon Na-intercalation in NaxPdBi2, indicating the effective hole-doping by Pb and electron-doping by Na. We observed a monotonic decrease of superconducting transition temperature (Tc) from 5.4K in undoped PdBi2 to less than 2K for x > 0.35 in hole-doped PdBi2-xPbx. Meanwhile, a rapid decrease of Tc with the Na intercalation is also observed in the electron-doped NaxPdBi2, which is in disagreement with the theoretical expectation. In addition, both the magnetoresistance and Hall resistance further reveal evidence for a possible spin density wave (SDW)-like transition below 50K in the Na-intercalated PdBi2 sample. The complete phase diagram is thus established from hole-doping to electron-doping. Meanwhile, high pressure study of the undoped PdBi2 shows that the Tc is linearly suppressed under pressure with a dTc/dP coefficient of -0.28K/GPa.

Feasibility Study on SRF Cavity Improvement by Doping Method

In this article a new idea is proposed by PKU group to improve the RF superconductive property of niobium cavity. Rare earth elements like scandium and yttrium are doped into ingot niobium during the smelting processes. A series of experiments have been done since 2010, and the preliminary testing results show that the magnetic property of niobium materials has been changed with different doping elements and proportions while the superconductive transition temperature almost does not change. Then a large ingot niobium doped with scandium was melted. RRR and mechanical properties were measured. This method may increase the superheating magnetic field and decrease surface resistance of niobium so as to improve the performance of niobium cavity which is a key component of SRF accelerators. A single-cell cavity made of Sc-doped niobium has been fabricated.
