On the monodromy conjecture for non-degenerate hypersurfaces

The monodromy conjecture is an umbrella term for several conjectured relationships between poles of zeta functions, monodromy eigenvalues and roots of Bernstein-Sato polynomials in arithmetic geometry and singularity theory. Even the weakest of these relations -- the Denef--Loeser conjecture on topological zeta functions -- is open for surface singularities. We prove it for a wide class of multidimensional singularities that are non-degenerate with respect to their Newton polyhedra, including all such singularities of functions of four variables. A crucial difference from the known case of three variables is the existence of degenerate singularities arbitrarily close to a non-degenerate one. Thus, even aiming at the study of non-degenerate singularities, we have to go beyond this setting. We develop new tools to deal with such multidimensional phenomena, and conjecture how the proof for non-degenerate singularities of arbitrarily many variables might look like.

On Irregularities of Fourier Transforms of Regular Holonomic D-Modules

We study Fourier transforms of regular holonomic D-modules. By using the theory of Fourier-Sato transforms of enhanced ind-sheaves developed by Kashiwara-Schapira and D'Agnolo-Kashiwara, a formula for their enhanced solution complexes will be obtained. Moreover we show that some parts of their characteristic cycles and irregularities are expressed by the geometries of the original D-modules.

Hyperbolic localization and Lefschetz fixed point formulas for higher-dimensional fixed point sets

We study Lefschetz fixed point formulas for constructible sheaves with higher-dimensional fixed point sets. Under fairly weak assumptions, we prove that the local contributions from them are expressed by some constructible functions associated to hyperbolic localizations. This gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Goresky-MacPherson in particular for smooth fixed point components. In the course of the proof, the new Lagrangian cycles introduced in our previous paper will be effectively used. Moreover we show various examples for which local contributions can be explicitly determined by our method.

Monodromies at infinity of non-tame polynomials

We consider the monodromy at infinity and the monodromies around the bifurcation points of polynomial functions $f : \CC^n \longrightarrow \CC$ which are not tame and might have non-isolated singularities. Our description of their Jordan blocks in terms of the Newton polyhedra and the motivic Milnor fibers relies on two new issues: the non-atypical eigenvalues of the monodromies and the corresponding concentration results for their generalized eigenspaces.
