A desingularization of Kontsevich's compactification of twisted cubics in V5V_5

By definition, the del Pezzo 33-fold V5V_5 is the intersection of Gr(2,5)\mathrm{Gr}(2,5) with three hyperplanes in P9\mathbb{P}^9 under the Plücker embedding. Rational curves in V5V_5 have been studied in various contents of Fano geometry. In this paper, we propose an explicit birational relation of the Kontsevich and Simpson compactifications of twisted cubic curves in V5V_5. As a direct corollary, we obtain a desingularized model of Kontsevich compactification which induces the intersection cohomology group of Kontsevich's space.

Minimal rational curves on the moduli spaces of symplectic and orthogonal bundles

Let CC be an algebraic curve of genus gg and LL a line bundle over CC. Let MSC(n,L)\mathcal{MS}_C(n,L) and MOC(n,L)\mathcal{MO}_C(n,L) be the moduli spaces of LL-valued symplectic and orthogonal bundles respectively, over CC of rank nn. We construct rational curves on these moduli spaces which generalize Hecke curves on the moduli space of vector bundles. As a main result, we show that these Hecke type curves have the minimal degree among the rational curves passing through a general point of the moduli spaces. As its byproducts, we show the non-abelian Torelli theorem and compute the automorphism group of moduli spaces.

Chow ring of the moduli space of stable sheaves supported on quartic curves

Motivated by the computation of the BPS-invariants on a local Calabi-Yau threefold suggested by S. Katz, we compute the Chow ring and the cohomology ring of the moduli space of stable sheaves of Hilbert polynomial 4m+14m+1 on the projective plane. As a byproduct, we obtain the total Chern class and Euler characteristics of all line bundles, which provide a numerical data for the strange duality on the plane.

Moduli of sheaves supported on quartic space curves

As a continuation of the work of Freiermuth and Trautmann, we study the geometry of the moduli space of stable sheaves on P3\mathbb{P}^3 with Hilbert polynomial 4m+14m+1. The moduli space has three irreducible components whose generic elements are, respectively, sheaves supported on rational quartic curves, on elliptic quartic curves, or on planar quartic curves. The main idea of the proof is to relate the moduli space with the Hilbert scheme of curves by wall crossing. We present all stable sheaves contained in the intersections of the three irreducible components. We also classify stable sheaves by means of their free resolutions.

Moduli of sheaves, Fourier-Mukai transform, and partial desingularization

We study birational maps among 1) the moduli space of semistable torsion sheaves of Hilbert polynomial 4m+24m+2 on a smooth quadric surface, 2) the moduli space of semistable torsion sheaves of Hilbert polynomial m2+3m+2m^{2}+3m+2 on P3\mathbb{P}^{3}, 3) Kontsevich's moduli space of genus zero stable maps of degree 2 to Grassmannian Gr(2,4)Gr(2, 4). A regular birational morphism from 1) to 2) is described in terms of Fourier-Mukai transform. The map from 3) to 2) is Kirwan's partial desingularization. Also we investigate several geometric properties of 1) by using the variation of moduli spaces of stable pairs.

Moduli Spaces of αα-stable Pairs and Wall-Crossing on P2\mathbb{P}^2

We study the wall-crossing of the moduli spaces Mα(d,1)\mathbf{M}^α(d,1) of αα-stable pairs with linear Hilbert polynomial dm+1dm+1 on the projective plane P2\mathbb{P}^2 as we alter the parameter αα. When dd is 4 and 5, at each wall, the moduli spaces are related by a smooth blow-up morphism followed by a smooth blow-down morphism, where one can describe the blow-up centers geometrically. As a byproduct, we obtain the Poincaré polynomials of the moduli space M(d,1)\mathbf{M}(d,1) of stable sheaves. We also discuss the wall-crossing when the number of stable components in Jordan-Hölder filtrations is three.

Virtual Poincaré polynomial of the space of stable pairs supported on quintic curves

Let Mα(d,χ)\mathbf{M}^α(d,χ) be the moduli space of αα-stable pairs (s,F)(s,F) on the projective plane P2\mathbb{P}^2 with Hilbert polynomial χ(F(m))=dm+χχ(F(m))=dm+χ. For sufficiently large αα (denoted by ∞\infty), it is well known that the moduli space is isomorphic to the relative Hilbert scheme of points over the universal degree dd plane curves. For the general (d,χ)(d,χ), the relative Hilbert scheme does not have a bundle structure over the Hilbert scheme of points. In this paper, as the first non trivial such a case, we study the wall crossing of the αα-stable pairs space when (d,χ)=(5,2)(d,χ)=(5,2). As a direct corollary, by combining with Bridgeland wall crossing of the moduli space of stable sheaves, we compute the virtual Poincaré polynomial of M∞(5,2)\mathbf{M}^{\infty}(5,2).

The geometry of the moduli space of one-dimensional sheaves

Let Md\mathbf{M}_d be the moduli space of stable sheaves on P2\mathbb{P}^2 with Hilbert polynomial dm+1dm+1. In this paper, we determine the effective and the nef cone of the space Md\mathbf{M}_d by natural geometric divisors. Main idea is to use the wall-crossing on the space of Bridgeland stability conditions and to compute the intersection numbers of divisors with curves by using the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem. We also present the stable base locus decomposition of the space M6\mathbf{M}_6. As a byproduct, we obtain the Betti numbers of the moduli spaces, which confirm the prediction in physics.

Cohomology bounds for sheaves of dimension one

We find the sharp bounds on h0(F)h^0(F) for one-dimensional semistable sheaves FF on a projective variety XX by using the spectrum of semistable sheaves. The result generalizes the Clifford theorem. When XX is the projective plane P2\mathbb{P}^2, we study the stratification of the moduli space by the spectrum of sheaves. We show that the deepest stratum is isomorphic to a subscheme of a relative Hilbert scheme. This provides an example of a family of semistable sheaves having the biggest dimensional global section space.

Compactified moduli spaces of rational curves in projective homogeneous varieties

The space of smooth rational curves of degree dd in a projective variety XX has compactifications by taking closures in the Hilbert scheme, the moduli space of stable sheaves or the moduli space of stable maps respectively. In this paper we compare these compactifications by explicit blow-ups and -downs when XX is a projective homogeneous variety and d≤3d\leq 3. Using the comparison result, we calculate the Betti numbers of the compactifications when XX is a Grassmannian variety.
