Two-mode squeezed state quantisation and semiclassical portraits

Quantisation with Gaussian type states offers certain advantages over other quantisation schemes, in particular, they can serve to regularise formally discontinuous classical functions leading to well defined quantum operators. In this work we define a squeezed state quantisation in two dimensions using several families of squeezed states for one- and two-mode configurations. The completeness relations of the squeezed states are exploited in order to tackle the quantisation and semiclassical analysis of a constrained position dependent mass model with harmonic potential. The effects of the squeezing parameters on the resulting operators and phase space functions are studied, and configuration space trajectories are compared between the classical and semiclassical models.

Confinement in bilayer graphene via intra- and inter-layer interactions

We consider confinement of Dirac fermions in $AB$-stacked bilayer graphene by inhomogeneous on-site interactions, (pseudo-)magnetic field or inter-layer interaction. Working within the framework of four-band approximation, we focus on the systems where the stationary equation is reducible into two stationary equations with $2\times2$ Dirac-type Hamiltonians and auxiliary interactions. We show that it is possible to find localized states by solving an effective Schrödinger equation with energy-dependent potential. We consider several scenarios where bilayer graphene is subject to inhomogneous (pseudo-)magnetic field, on-site interactions or inter-layer coupling. In explicit examples, we provide analytical solutions for the states localized by local fluctuations or periodicity defects of the interactions.

Coupled system of Dirac fermions with different Fermi velocities via composites of SUSY operators

We use the framework of supersymmetric transformations in the construction of coupled systems of Dirac fermions. Its energy operator is a composite of the generators of the associated superalgebra, and the two coupled Dirac fermions acquire different Fermi velocities. We discuss in detail the peculiar spectral properties of the new system. The emergent phenomena like level crossing or generation of bound states in the continuum (BICs) are illustrated in two explicit examples.

Third-order ladder operators, generalized Okamoto and exceptional orthogonal polynomials

We extend and generalize the construction of Sturm-Liouville problems for a family of Hamiltonians constrained to fulfill a third-order shape-invariance condition and focusing on the "$-2x/3$" hierarchy of solutions to the fourth Painlevé transcendent. Such a construction has been previously addressed in the literature for some particular cases but we realize it here in the most general case. The corresponding potential in the Hamiltonian operator is a rationally extended oscillator defined in terms of the conventional Okamoto polynomials, from which we identify three different zero-modes constructed in terms of the generalized Okamoto polynomials. The third-order ladder operators of the system reveal that the complete set of eigenfunctions is decomposed as a union of three disjoint sequences of solutions, generated from a set of three-term recurrence relations. We also identify a link between the eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian operator and a special family of exceptional Hermite polynomial.

Point transformations: exact solutions of the quantum time-dependent mass nonstationary oscillator

In this note we address the exact solutions of a time-dependent Hamiltonian composed by an oscillator-like interaction with both a frequency and a mass term that depend on time. The latter is achieved by constructing the appropriate point transformation such that it deforms the Schrödinger equation of a stationary oscillator into the one of the time-dependent model. Thus, the solutions of the latter can be seen as deformations of the well known solutions of the stationary oscillator, and thus an orthogonal set of solutions can be determined in a straightforward way. The latter is possible since the inner product structure is preserved by the point transformation. Also, any invariant operator of the stationary oscillator is transformed into an invariant of the time-dependent model. This property leads to a straightforward way to determine constants of motion without requiring to use ansatz.
