Hawking radiation of scalar particles and fermions from squashed Kaluza-Klein black holes based on a generalized uncertainty principle

We study the Hawking radiation from the five-dimensional charged static squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole by the tunneling of charged scalar particles and charged fermions. In contrast to the previous studies of Hawking radiation from squashed Kaluza-Klein black holes, we consider the phenomenological quantum gravity effects predicted by the generalized uncertainty principle with the minimal measurable length. We derive corrections of the Hawking temperature to general relativity, which are related to the energy of the emitted particle, the size of the compact extra dimension, the charge of the black hole and the existence of the minimal length in the squashed Kaluza-Klein geometry. We obtain some known Hawking temperatures in five and four-dimensional black hole spacetimes by taking limits in the modified temperature. We show that the generalized uncertainty principle may slow down the increase of the Hawking temperature due to the radiation, which may lead to the thermodynamic stable remnant of the order of the Planck mass after the evaporation of the squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole. We also find that the sparsity of the Hawking radiation modified by the generalized uncertainty principle may become infinite when the mass of the squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole approaches its remnant mass.

Light deflection by squashed Kaluza-Klein black holes in a plasma medium

We study motions of photons in an unmagnetized cold homogeneous plasma medium in the five-dimensional charged static squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole spacetime. In this case, a photon behaves as a massive particle in a four-dimensional spherically symmetric spacetime. We consider the light deflection by the squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole surrounded by the plasma in a weak-field limit. We derive corrections of the deflection angle to general relativity, which are related to the size of the extra dimension, the charge of the black hole and the ratio between the plasma and the photon frequencies.

Charged black strings in a five-dimensional Kasner universe

We construct time-dependent charged black string solutions in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory. In the far region, the spacetime approaches a five-dimensional Kasner universe with a expanding three-dimensional space and a shrinking extra dimension. Near the event horizon, the spacetime is approximately static and has a smooth event horizon. We also study the motion of test particles around the black string and show the existence of quasi-circular orbits. Finally, we briefly discuss the stability of this spacetime.

A pair of extremal charged black holes on Kerr-Taub-bolt space

We construct asymptotically Kaluza-Klein solutions in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory which represent a pair of extremal, charged, static black holes on Kerr-Taub-bolt space. Regularity conditions require that the topology of spatial infinity and that of each black hole are not S$^3$, but different lens spaces. We show that for a given topology at spatial infinity, there are an infinite number of different horizon topologies for the black hole pair. We briefly discuss a generalization to the case with a positive cosmological constant.

A simple diagnosis of non-smoothness of black hole horizon: Curvature singularity at horizons in extremal Kaluza-Klein black holes

We propose a simple method to prove non-smoothness of a black hole horizon. The existence of a $C^1$ extension across the horizon implies that there is no $C^{N + 2}$ extension across the horizon if some components of $N$-th covariant derivative of Riemann tensor diverge at the horizon in the coordinates of the $C^1$ extension. In particular, the divergence of a component of the Riemann tensor at the horizon directly indicates the presence of a curvature singularity. By using this method, we can confirm the existence of a curvature singularity for several cases where the scalar invariants constructed from the Riemann tensor, e.g., the Ricci scalar and the Kretschmann invariant, take finite values at the horizon. As a concrete example of the application, we show that the Kaluza-Klein black holes constructed by Myers have a curvature singularity at the horizon if the spacetime dimension is higher than five.

Charged Black Holes in a Five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein Universe

We examine an exact solution which represents a charged black hole in a Kaluza-Klein universe in the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory. The spacetime approaches to the five-dimensional Kasner solution that describes expanding three dimensions and shrinking an extra dimension in the far region. The metric is continuous but not smooth at the black hole horizon. There appears a mild curvature singularity that a free-fall observer can traverse the horizon. The horizon is a squashed three-sphere with a constant size, and the metric is approximately static near the horizon.

Charged rotating Kaluza-Klein multi-black holes and multi-black strings in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory

We construct exact solutions, which represent regular charged rotating Kaluza-Klein multi-black holes in the five-dimensional pure Einstein-Maxwell theory. Quantization conditions between the mass, the angular momentum, and charges appear from the regularity condition of horizon. We also obtain multi-black string solutions by taking some limits in the solutions. We extend the black hole solutions to the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory with an arbitrary Chern-Simons coupling constant.

Extremal Charged Black Holes with a Twisted Extra Dimension

We construct odd-dimensional extremal charged black hole solutions with a twisted S^1 as an extra dimension on generalized Euclidean Taub-NUT spaces. There exists a null hypersurface where an expansion for an outgoing null geodesic congruence vanishes, then these spacetimes look like black holes. We show that the metrics admit C^0 extension across the horizon, but some components of Riemann curvature diverge there if the dimension is higher than five. The singularity is not much strong so that an observer along a free-fall geodesic can traverse the horizon. We also show solutions with a positive cosmological constant.

Kaluza-Klein vacuum multi-black holes in five-dimensions

We investigate five-dimensional vacuum solutions which represent rotating multi-black holes in asymptotically Kaluza-Klein spacetimes. We show that multi-black holes rotate maximally along extra dimension, and stationary configurations in vacuum are achieved by the balance of the gravitational attraction force and repulsive force caused by the rotations of black holes. We also show that each black hole can have the different topology of the lens space in addition to the spherical topology, and mass of black holes are quantized by the size of extra dimension and horizon topology.

Hawking radiation as tunneling from squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole

We discuss Hawking radiation from a five-dimensional squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole on the basis of the tunneling mechanism. A simple manner, which was recently suggested by Umetsu, is possible to extend the original derivation by Parikh and Wilczek to various black holes. That is, we use the two-dimensional effective metric, which is obtained by the dimensional reduction near the horizon, as the background metric. By using same manner, we derive both the desired result of the Hawking temperature and the effect of the back reaction associated with the radiation in the squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole background.

Charged Rotating Kaluza-Klein Black Holes in Dilaton Gravity

We obtain a class of slowly rotating charged Kaluza-Klein black hole solutions of the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with arbitrary dilaton coupling constant. At infinity, the spacetime is effectively four-dimensional. In the absence of the squashing function, our solution reduces to the five-dimensional asymptotically flat slowly rotating charged dilaton black hole solution with two equal angular momenta. We calculate the mass, the angular momentum and the gyromagnetic ratio of these rotating Kaluza-Klein dilaton black holes. It is shown that the dilaton field and the non-trivial asymptotic structure of the solutions modify the gyromagnetic ratio of the black holes. We also find that the gyromagnetic ratio crucially depends on the dilaton coupling constant, α, and decreases with increasing αfor any size of the compact extra dimension.

Rotating Kaluza-Klein Multi-Black Holes with Godel Parameter

We obtain new five-dimensional supersymmetric rotating multi-Kaluza-Klein black hole solutions with the Godel parameter in the Einstein-Maxwell system with a Chern-Simons term. These solutions have no closed timelike curve outside the black hole horizons. At the infinity, the space-time is effectively four-dimensional. Each horizon admits various lens space topologies L(n;1)=S^3/Z_n in addition to a round S^3. The space-time can have outer ergoregions disjointed from the black hole horizons, as well as inner ergoregions attached to each horizon. We discuss the rich structures of ergoregions.
