Space- and time-like electromagnetic pion form factors in light-cone pQCD

We present a combined analysis of the space- and time-like electromagnetic pion form factors in light-cone perturbative QCD with transverse momentum dependence and Sudakov suppression. Including the non-perturbative ``soft' QCD and power suppressed twist-3 corrections to the standard twist-2 perturbative QCD result, the experimental pion data available at moderate energies/momentum transfers can be explained reasonably well. This may help towards resolving the bulk of the existing discrepancy between the space- and time-like experimental data.

Model analysis on thermal UV-cutoff effects on the critical boundary in hot QCD

We study the critical boundary on the quark-mass plane associated with the chiral phase transition in QCD at finite temperature. We point out that the critical boundaries obtained from the Lattice QCD simulation and the chiral effective model are significantly different; in the (Polyakov-loop coupled) Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model we find that the critical mass is about one order of magnitude smaller than the value reported in the Lattice QCD case. It is known in the Lattice QCD study that the critical mass goes smaller in the continuum limit along the temporal direction. To investigate the temporal UV-cutoff effects quantitatively we consider the (P)NJL model with only finite $N_τ$ Matsubara frequencies taken in the summation. We confirm that the critical mass in such a UV-tamed NJL model becomes larger with decreasing $N_τ$, which demonstrates a correct tendency to explain the difference between the Lattice QCD and chiral model results.

Shear Viscosity of a Gluon Plasma in Perturbative QCD

We calculate the shear viscosity $η$ to entropy density $s$ ratio $η/s$ of a gluon plasma in kinetic theory including the gg->gg and gg<->ggg processes. Due to the suppressed contribution to $η$ in the gg->gg forward scattering, it is known that the gluon bremsstrahlung gg<->ggg process also contributes at the same order $O(α_{s}^{-2})$ in perturbative QCD. Using the Gunion-Bertsch formula for the gg<->ggg matrix element which is valid for the limit of soft bremsstrahlung, we find that the result is sensitive to whether the same limit is taken for the phase space. Using the exact phase space, the gg<->ggg contribution becomes more important to $η$ than gg->gg for $α_{s}\gtrsim 2\times 10^{-3}$. Therefore, at $α_{s}=0.1$, $η/s\simeq 1.0$, between 2.7 obtained by Arnold, Moore and Yaffe (AMY) and 0.5 obtained by Xu and Greiner. If the soft bremsstrahlung limit is imposed on the phase space such that the recoil effect from the bremsstrahlung gluon is neglected, then the correction from the gg<->ggg process is about 10-30% of the total which is close to AMY's prediction. This shows that the soft bremsstrahlung approximation is not as good as previously expected.

Sigma meson in QCD sum rules using a two quark current with derivatives

We study the $σ$ meson in QCD sum rules using a two quark interpolating field with derivatives. In the constituent quark model, the $σ$ meson is composed of a quark and an antiquark in the relative p-wave state and is thus expected to have a larger overlap with an interpolating field that measures the derivative of the relative quark wave-function. While the sum rule with a current without derivatives gives a pole mass of around 1 GeV, the present sum rule with a derivative current gives a mass of around 550 MeV and a width of 400 MeV, that could be identified with the $σ$ meson.
