Solution of the Jacobi inversion problem on non-hyperelliptic curves

In this paper we propose a method of solving the Jacobi inversion problem in terms of multiply periodic $\wp$ functions, also called Kleinian $\wp$ functions. This result is based on the recently developed theory of multivariable sigma functions for $(n,s)$-curves. Considering $(n,s)$-curves as canonical representatives in the corresponding classes of bi-rationally equivalent plane algebraic curves, we claim that the Jacobi inversion problem on plane algebraic curves is solved completely. Explicit solutions on trigonal, tetragonal and pentagonal curves are given as an illustration.

Addition via reduction algorithm on trigonal curves

In this paper we propose a direct and explicit realization of addition of divisors by means of an iterative reduction algorithm. Each iteration of the algorithm is the reduction of a degree $g+1$ divisor to a divisor of degree~$g$. Such an approach allows to carry out all computations explicitly in a symbolic form, which is done for curves $C_{3,4}$, $C_{3,5}$ in this paper, and also for curves of higher genera up to $C_{3,13}$, $C_{3,14}$.

Solution of Mumford's second problem

A complete solution of Mumford's second problem about representation of theta derivatives with rational characteristics in terms of theta constants with rational characteristics is found. An explicit formula for computing such an expression for theta derivative with an arbitrary rational characteristic is derived, and illustrated with examples. Expressions for theta derivatives appear to be homogeneous of degree $3$ with respect to theta constants.

Addition of Divisors on Hyperelliptic Curves via Interpolation Polynomials

Two problems are addressed: reduction of an arbitrary degree non-special divisor to the equivalent divisor of the degree equal to genus of a curve, and addition of divisors of arbitrary degrees. The hyperelliptic case is considered as the simplest model. Explicit formulas defining reduced divisors for some particular cases are found. The reduced divisors are obtained in the form of solution of the Jacobi inversion problem which provides the way of computing Abelian functions on arbitrary non-special divisors. An effective reduction algorithm is proposed, which has the advantage that it involves only arithmetic operations on polynomials. The proposed addition algorithm contains more details comparing with the known in cryptography, and is extended to divisors of arbitrary degrees comparing with the known in the theory of hyperelliptic functions.

Sato Grassmannian and Degenerate Sigma Function

The degeneration of the hyperelliptic sigma function is studied. We use the Sato Grassmannian for this purpose. A simple decomposition of a rational function gives a decomposition of Plücker coordinates of a frame of the Sato Grassmannian. It then gives a decomposition of the tau function corresponding to the degeneration of a hyperelliptic curve of genus $g$ in terms of the tau functions corresponding to a hyperelliptic curve of genus $g-1$. Since the tau functions are described by sigma functions, we get the corresponding formula for the degenerate hyperelliptic sigma function.

A generalised Landau-Lifshitz equation for isotropic SU(3) magnet

In the paper we obtain equations for large-scale fluctuations of the mean field (the field of magnetization and quadrupole moments) in a magnetic system realized by a square (cubic) lattice of atoms with spin s >= 1 at each site. We use the generalized Heisenberg Hamiltonian with biquadratic exchange as a quantum model. A quantum thermodynamical averaging gives classical effective models, which are interpreted as Hamiltonian systems on coadjoint orbits of Lie group SU(3).

Orbit Approach to Separation of Variables in sl(3)-Related Integrable Systems

Using the orbit method we attempt to reveal geometric and algebraic meaning of separation of variables for the integrable systems on coadjoint orbits in an $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$ loop algebra. We consider two types of generic orbits embedded into a common manifold, endowed with two nonsingular Lie-Poisson brackets. We prove that separation of variables on orbits of both types is realized by the same variables of separation. We also construct the integrable systems on these orbits: a coupled 3-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation and an isotropic SU(3) Landau-Lifshitz equation.

Harmonic analysis on Lagrangian manifolds of integrable Hamiltonian systems

For an integrable Hamiltonian system we construct a representation of the phase space symmetry algebra over the space of functions on a Lagrangian manifold. The representation is a result of the canonical quantization of the integrable system in terms of separation variables. The variables are chosen in such way that a half of them parameterizes the Lagrangian manifold, which coincides with the Liouville torus of the integrable system. The obtained representation is indecomposable and non-exponentiated.

SU(3) magnet: finite-gap integration on the lowest genus curve

We consider the integrable system of isotropic SU(3) Landau-Lifshits equation as a Hamiltonian system on a coadjoint orbit of the SU(3) loop group. We connect the mentioned equation with an isotropic SU(3) magnet because it describes the mean fields of magnetic and quadrupole moments in a spin-1 lattice. For the system of isotropic SU(3) Landau-Lifshits equation we perform separation of variables in Sklyanin's manner, and integrate in the lowest finite gap where the spectral curve is elliptic.

Ordered States and Nonlinear Large-Scale Excitations in a Plane Magnet with Spin s=1

We study ordered states and topological excitations in a quasi-two-dimensional magnet, modeled by a square lattice with spins $s {=} 1$ at all sites, and the Hamiltonian with biquadratic exchange interaction between nearest neighbor sites. We propose two effective Hamiltonians for description of large-scale excitations in the two-dimensional case. They describe excitations of the mean field in a nematic phase and a mixed ferromagnetic-nematic phase. It is shown that the effective Hamiltonians are minimized on configurations with fixed topological charge. These topological excitations can arise at low temperatures and cause a destruction of a long-range order in the two-dimensional system.

Topological excitations in 2D spin system with high spin $s>= 1$

We construct a class of topological excitations of a mean field in a two-dimensional spin system represented by a quantum Heisenberg model with high powers of exchange interaction. The quantum model is associated with a classical one (the continuous classical analogue) that is based on a Landau-Lifshitz like equation, and describes large-scale fluctuations of the mean field. On the other hand, the classical model is a Hamiltonian system on a coadjoint orbit of the unitary group SU($2s {+} 1$) in the case of spin $s$. We have found a class of mean field configurations that can be interpreted as topological excitations, because they have fixed topological charges. Such excitations change their shapes and grow preserving an energy.

Geometry and Topology of Coadjoint Orbits of Semisimple Lie Groups

Orbits of coadjoint representations of classical compact Lie groups have a lot of applications. They appear in representation theory, geometrical quantization, theory of magnetism, quantum optics etc. As geometric objects the orbits were the subject of much study. However, they remain hard for calculation and application. We propose simple solutions for the following problems: an explicit parameterization of the orbit by means of a generalized stereographic projection, obtaining a Kählerian structure on the orbit, introducing basis two-forms for the cohomology group of the orbit.
