Evolution algebras with one-dimensional square

Evolution algebras with one dimensional square are classified using the theory of inner product spaces. More precisely, for $A$ an evolution algebra with $\dim(A^2) = 1$ and $a$ a generator of $A^2$, the product of $A$ is given by $xy = \langle x,y\rangle a$. Three broad classes of algebras are obtained: (1) $a\in\hbox{Ann}(A)$; (2) $a\notin\text{Ann}(A)$ and $a$ is isotropic relative to $\langle\cdot, \cdot\rangle$; (3) $a\notin\text{Ann}(A)$ and $a$ is anisotropic relative to $\langle\cdot, \cdot\rangle$.

Self-dual nonsymmetric operads with two binary operations

We consider nonsymmetric operads with two binary operations satisfying relations in arity 3; hence these operads are quadratic, and so we can investigate Koszul duality. We first consider operations which are nonassociative (not necessarily associative) and then specialize to the associative case. We obtain a complete classification of self-dual quadratic nonsymmetric operads with two (associative or nonassociative) binary operations. These operads generalize associativity for one operation to the setting of two operations.

$σ$-Biderivations and $σ$-commuting maps of triangular algebras

Let $\A$ be an algebra and $σ$ an automorphism of $\A$. A linear map $d$ of $\A$ is called a $σ$-derivation of $\A$ if $d(xy) = d(x)y + σ(x)d(y)$, for all $x, y \in \A$. A bilinear map $D: \A \times \A \to \A$ is said to be a $σ$-biderivation of $\A$ if it is a $σ$-derivation in each component. An additive map $Θ$ of $\A$ is $σ$-commuting if it satisfies $Θ(x)x - σ(x)Θ(x) = 0$, for all $x \in \A$. In this paper, we introduce the notions of inner and extremal $σ$-biderivations and of proper $σ$-commuting maps. One of our main results states that, under certain assumptions, every $σ$-biderivation of a triangular algebras is the sum of an extremal $σ$-biderivation and an inner $σ$-biderivation. Sufficient conditions are provided on a triangular algebra for all of its $σ$-biderivations (respectively, $σ$-commuting maps) to be inner (respectively, proper). A precise description of $σ$-commuting maps of triangular algebras is also given. A new class of automorphisms of triangular algebras is introduced and precisely described. We provide many classes of triangular algebras whose automorphisms can be precisely described.

The Pieri rule for dual immaculate quasi-symmetric functions

The immaculate basis of the non-commutative symmetric functions was recently introduced by the first and third author to lift certain structures in the symmetric functions to the dual Hopf algebras of the non-commutative and quasi-symmetric functions. It was shown that immaculate basis satisfies a positive, multiplicity free right Pieri rule. It was conjectured that the left Pieri rule may contain signs but that it would be multiplicity free. Similarly, it was also conjectured that the dual quasi-symmetric basis would also satisfy a signed multiplicity free Pieri rule. We prove these two conjectures here.

$σ$-Mappings of triangular algebras

Let $A$ be an algebra and $σ$ an automorphism of $A$. A linear map $d$ of $A$ is called a $σ$-derivation of $A$ if $d(xy) = d(x)y + σ(x)d(y)$, for all $x, y \in A$. A linear map $D$ is said to be a generalized $σ$-derivation of $A$ if there exists a $σ$-derivation $d$ of $A$ such that $D(xy) = D(x)y + σ(x)d(y)$, for all $x, y \in A$. An additive map $Θ$ of $A$ is $σ$-centralizing if $Θ(x)x - σ(x)Θ(x) \in Z(A)$, for all $x \in A$. In this paper, precise descriptions of generalized $σ$-derivations and $σ$-centralizing maps of triangular algebras are given. Analogues of the so-called commutative theorems, due to Posner and Mayne, are also proved for the triangular algebra setting.

On the definition of nucleus for dialgebras

Malcev dialgebras have been introduced recently by Bremner, Peresi and Sánchez-Ortega. In the present paper, we continue their study by introducing the notion of the generalized alternative di-nucleus of a 0-dialgebra. A general conjecture about the speciality of Malcev dialgebras in terms of this di-nucleus is formulated. In the last section, we introduce the appropriate generalization of the associative nucleus for dialgebras, and prove an analogue of Kleinfeld's theorem for the setting of dialgebras.
