An Amir-Cambern theorem for subspaces of Banach lattice-valued continuous functions

For $i=1,2$, let $E_i$ be a reflexive Banach lattice over $\mathbb{R}$ with a certain parameter $λ^+(E_i)>1$, let $K_i$ be a locally compact (Hausdorff) topological space and let $\mathcal{H}_i$ be a closed subspace of $\mathcal{C}_0(K_i, E_i)$ such that each point of the Choquet boundary $\mathcal{Ch}_{\mathcal{H}_i} K_i$ of $\mathcal{H}_i$ is a weak peak point. We show that if there exists an isomorphism $T\colon \mathcal{H}_1 \to \mathcal{H}_2$ with $\Vert T \Vert \cdot \Vert T^{-1} \Vert<\min \lbrace λ^+(E_1), λ^+(E_2) \rbrace$ such that $T$ and $T^{-1}$ preserve positivity, then $\mathcal{Ch}_{\mathcal{H}_1} K_1$ is homeomorphic to $\mathcal{Ch}_{\mathcal{H}_2} K_2$.

Baire classes of affine vector-valued functions

We investigate Baire classes of strongly affine mappings with values in Fréchet spaces. We show, in particular, that the validity of the vector-valued Mokobodzki's result on affine functions of the first Baire class is related to the approximation property of the range space. We further extend several results known for scalar functions on Choquet simplices or on dual balls of $L_1$-preduals to the vector-valued case. This concerns, in particular, affine classes of strongly affine Baire mappings, the abstract Dirichlet problem and the weak Dirichlet problem for Baire mappings. Some of these results have weaker conclusions than their scalar versions. We also establish an affine version of the Jayne-Rogers selection theorem.

Preserving affine Baire classes by perfect affine maps

Let $φ\colon X\to Y$ be an affine continuous surjection between compact convex sets. Suppose that the canonical copy of the space of real-valued affine continuous functions on $Y$ in the space of real-valued affine continuous functions on $X$ is complemented. We show that if $F$ is a topological vector space, then $f\colon Y\to F$ is of affine Baire class $α$ whenever the composition $f\circφ$ is of affine Baire class $α$. This abstract result is applied to extend known results on affine Baire classes of strongly affine Baire mappings.

Quantification of the Banach-Saks property

We investigate possible quantifications of the Banach-Saks property and the weak Banach-Saks property. We prove quantitative versions of relationships of the Banach-Saks property of a set with norm compactness and weak compactness. We further establish a quantitative version of the characterization of the weak Banach-Saks property of a set using uniform weak convergence and $\ell_1$-spreading models. We also study the case of the unit ball and in this case we prove a dichotomy which is an analogue of the James distortion theorem for $\ell_1$-spreading models.

Typical martingale diverges at a typical point

We investigate convergence of martingales adapted to a given filtration of finite $σ$-algebras. To any such filtration we associate a canonical metrizable compact space $K$ such that martingales adapted to the filtration can be canonically represented on $K$. We further show that (except for trivial cases) typical martingale diverges at a comeager subset of $K$. `Typical martingale' means a martingale from a comeager set in any of the standard spaces of martingales. In particular we show that a typical $L^1$-bounded martingale of norm at most one converges almost surely to zero and has maximal possible oscillation on a comeager set.

On quantitative Schur and Dunford-Pettis properties

We show that the dual to any subspace of $c_0(Γ)$ has the strongest possible quantitative version of the Schur property. Further, we establish relationship between the quantitative Schur property and quantitative versions of the Dunford-Pettis property. Finally, we apply these results to show, in particular, that any subspace of the space of compact operators on $\ell_p$ ($1<p<\infty$) with Dunford-Pettis property satisfies automatically both its quantitative versions.

Quantitative Dunford-Pettis property

We investigate possible quantifications of the Dunford-Pettis property. We show, in particular, that the Dunford-Pettis property is automatically quantitative in a sense. Further, there are two incomparable mutually dual stronger versions of a quantitative Dunford-Pettis property. We prove that $L^1$ spaces and $C(K)$ spaces posses both of them. We also show that several natural measures of weak non-compactness are equal in $L^1$ spaces.

On a difference between quantitative weak sequential completeness and the quantitative Schur property

We study quantitative versions of the Schur property and weak sequential completeness, proceeding thus with investigations started by G. Godefroy, N. Kalton and D. Li and continued by H. Pfitzner and the authors. We show that the Schur property of $\ell_1$ holds quantitatively in the strongest possible way and construct an example of a Banach space which is quantitatively weakly sequentially complete, has the Schur property but fails the quantitative form of the Schur property.
