High-performance green and blue quantum-dot light-emitting diodes with eliminated charge leakage

Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) promise a new generation of efficient, low-cost, large-area, and flexible electroluminescent devices. However, the inferior performance of green and blue QD-LEDs is hindering the commercialization of QD-LEDs in display and solid-state lighting. Here, we demonstrate best-performing green and blue QD-LEDs with ~100% conversion of the injected charge carriers into emissive excitons. Key to this success is eliminating electron leakage at the organic/inorganic interface by using hole-transport polymers with low electron affinity and reduced energetic disorder. Our devices exhibit record-high peak external quantum efficiencies (28.7% for green, 21.9% for blue), exceptionally high efficiencies in wide ranges of luminance, and unprecedented stability (T95 lifetime: 580,000 h for green, 4,400 h for blue). The overall performance surpasses previously reported solution-processed green and blue LEDs.

Coronary Artery Segmentation in Angiographic Videos Using A 3D-2D CE-Net

Coronary angiography is an indispensable assistive technique for cardiac interventional surgery. Segmentation and extraction of blood vessels from coronary angiography videos are very essential prerequisites for physicians to locate, assess and diagnose the plaques and stenosis in blood vessels. This article proposes a new video segmentation framework that can extract the clearest and most comprehensive coronary angiography images from a video sequence, thereby helping physicians to better observe the condition of blood vessels. This framework combines a 3D convolutional layer to extract spatial--temporal information from a video sequence and a 2D CE--Net to accomplish the segmentation task of an image sequence. The input is a few continuous frames of angiographic video, and the output is a mask of segmentation result. From the results of segmentation and extraction, we can get good segmentation results despite the poor quality of coronary angiography video sequences.

New Constructions of Optimal Cyclic (r,δ) Locally Repairable Codes from Their Zeros

An $(r, δ)$-locally repairable code ($(r, δ)$-LRC for short) was introduced by Prakash et al. \cite{Prakash2012} for tolerating multiple failed nodes in distributed storage systems, which was a generalization of the concept of $r$-LRCs produced by Gopalan et al. \cite{Gopalan2012}. An $(r, δ)$-LRC is said to be optimal if it achieves the Singleton-like bound. Recently, Chen et al. \cite{Chen2018} generalized the construction of cyclic $r$-LRCs proposed by Tamo et al. \cite{Tamo2015,Tamo2016} and constructed several classes of optimal $(r, δ)$-LRCs of length $n$ for $n\, |\, (q-1)$ or $n\,|\, (q+1)$, respectively in terms of a union of the set of zeros controlling the minimum distance and the set of zeros ensuring the locality. Following the work of \cite{Chen2018,Chen2019}, this paper first characterizes $(r, δ)$-locality of a cyclic code via its zeros. Then we construct several classes of optimal cyclic $(r, δ)$-LRCs of length $n$ for $n\, |\, (q-1)$ or $n\,|\, (q+1)$, respectively from the product of two sets of zeros. Our constructions include all optimal cyclic $(r,δ)$-LRCs proposed in \cite{Chen2018,Chen2019}, and our method seems more convenient to obtain optimal cyclic $(r, δ)$-LRCs with flexible parameters. Moreover, many optimal cyclic $(r,δ)$-LRCs of length $n$ for $n\, |\, (q-1)$ or $n\,|\, (q+1)$, respectively such that $(r+δ-1)\nmid n$ can be obtained from our method.

Nonlinear interaction effects in a three-mode cavity optomechanical system

We investigate the resonant enhancement of nonlinear interactions in a three-mode cavity optomechanical system with two mechanical oscillators. By using the Keldysh Green's function technique we find that nonlinear effects on the cavity density of states can be greatly enhanced by the resonant scattering of two phononic polaritons, due to their small effective dissipation. In the large detuning limit and taking into account an upper bound on the achievable dressed coupling, the optimal point for probing the nonlinear effect is obtained, showing that such three-mode system can exhibit prominent nonlinear features also for relatively small values of $g/κ$.

Reducing the X-ray radiation exposure frequency in cardio-angiography via deep-learning based video interpolation

Cardiac coronary angiography is a major technology to assist doctors during cardiac interventional surgeries. Under the exposure of X-ray radiation, doctors inject contrast agents through catheters to determine the position and status of coronary vessels in real time. To get a coronary angiography video with a high frame rate, the doctor needs to increase the exposure frequency and intensity of the X-ray. This will inevitably increase the X-ray harm to both patients and surgeons. In this work, we innovatively utilize a deep-learning based video interpolation algorithm to interpolate coronary angiography videos. Moreover, we establish a new coronary angiography image dataset ,which contains 95,039 triplets images to retrain the video interpolation network model. Using the retrained network we synthesize high frame rate coronary angiography video from the low frame rate coronary angiography video. The average peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR) of those synthesized video frames reaches 34dB. Extensive experiment results demonstrate the feasibility of using the video frame interpolation algorithm to synthesize continuous and clear high frame rate coronary angiography video. With the help of this technology, doctors can significantly reduce exposure frequency and intensity of the X-ray during coronary angiography.

Physically feasible three-level transitionless quantum driving with multiple Schrödinger dynamics

Three-level quantum systems, which possess some unique characteristics beyond two-level ones, such as electromagnetically induced transparency, coherent trapping, and Raman scatting, play important roles in solid-state quantum information processing. Here, we introduce an approach to implement the physically feasible three-level transitionless quantum driving with multiple Schrödinger dynamics (MSDs). It can be used to control accurately population transfer and entanglement generation for three-level quantum systems in a nonadiabatic way. Moreover, we propose an experimentally realizable hybrid architecture, based on two nitrogen-vacancy-center ensembles coupled to a transmission line resonator, to realize our transitionless scheme which requires fewer physical resources and simple procedures, and it is more robust against environmental noises and control parameter variations than conventional adiabatic passage techniques. All these features inspire the further application of MSDs on robust quantum information processing in experiment.

Shortcuts to adiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspace with transitionless quantum driving algorithm

By using transitionless quantum driving algorithm (TQDA), we present an efficient scheme for the shortcuts to the holonomic quantum computation (HQC). It works in decoherence-free subspace (DFS) and the adiabatic process can be speeded up in the shortest possible time. More interestingly, we give a physical implementation for our shortcuts to HQC with nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamonds dispersively coupled to a whispering-gallery mode microsphere cavity. It can be efficiently realized by controlling appropriately the frequencies of the external laser pulses. Also, our scheme has good scalability with more qubits. Different from previous works, we first use TQDA to realize a universal HQC in DFS, including not only two noncommuting accelerated single-qubit holonomic gates but also a accelerated two-qubit holonomic controlled-phase gate, which provides the necessary shortcuts for the complete set of gates required for universal quantum computation. Moreover, our experimentally realizable shortcuts require only two-body interactions, not four-body ones, and they work in the dispersive regime, which relax greatly the difficulty of their physical implementation in experiment. Our numerical calculations show that the present scheme is robust against decoherence with current experimental parameters.

Study on the magnetic measurement results of the injection system for CSNS/RCS

A combination of the H- stripping and phase space painting method is used to accumulate a high intensity beam in the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS) of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). The injection system for CSNS/RCS consists of three kinds of magnets: four direct current magnets (BC1-BC4), eight alternating current magnets (BH1-BH4 and BV1-BV4), two septum magnets (ISEP1 and ISEP2). In this paper, the magnetic measurements of the injection system were introduced and the data analysis was processed. The field uniformity and magnetizing curves of these magnets were given, and then the magnetizing fitting equations were obtained.

Filtered-OFDM - Enabler for Flexible Waveform in The 5th Generation Cellular Networks

The underlying waveform has always been a shaping factor for each generation of the cellular networks, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for the 4th generation cellular networks (4G). To meet the diversified and pronounced expectations upon the upcoming 5G cellular networks, here we present an enabler for flexible waveform configuration, named as filtered-OFDM (f-OFDM). With the conventional OFDM, a unified numerology is applied across the bandwidth provided, balancing among the channel characteristics and the service requirements, and the spectrum efficiency is limited by the compromise we made. In contrast, with f-OFDM, the assigned bandwidth is split up into several subbands, and different types of services are accommodated in different subbands with the most suitable waveform and numerology, leading to an improved spectrum utilization. After outlining the general framework of f-OFDM, several important design aspects are also discussed, including filter design and guard tone arrangement. In addition, an extensive comparison among the existing 5G waveform candidates is also included to illustrate the advantages of f-OFDM. Our simulations indicate that, in a specific scenario with four distinct types of services, f-OFDM provides up to 46% of throughput gains over the conventional OFDM scheme.

Quantum Zeno and Zeno-like effects in nitrogen vacancy centers

We present a proposal to realize the quantum Zeno effect (QZE) and quantum Zeno-like effect (QZLE) in a proximal $\mathrm{^{13}C}$ nuclear spin by controlling a proximal electron spin of a nitrogen vacancy (NV) center. The measurement is performed by applying a microwave pulse to induce the transition between different electronic spin states. Under the practical experimental conditions, our calculations show that there exist both QZE and QZLE in a $^{13}$C nuclear spin in the vicinity of an NV center.

Study on the injection beam commissioning software for CSNS/RCS

The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) accelerator uses H- stripping and phase space painting method of filling large ring acceptance with the linac beam of small emittance. The beam commissioning software system is the key part of CSNS accelerator. The injection beam commissioning software for CSNS contains three parts currently: painting curve control, injection beam control and injection orbit correction. The injection beam control contains two subsections: single bunch beam calculation and LRBT beam control at the foil. The injection orbit correction also contains two subsections: injection orbit correction by the calculation and injection trim power control.

Study on the transverse painting during the injection process for CSNS/RCS

For the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), a combination of the H- stripping and phase space painting method is used to accumulate a high intensity beam in the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS). In this paper, firstly, the injection processes with different painting ranges and different painting methods were studied. With the codes ORBIT and MATLAB, the particle distribution and painting image were obtained. Then, the reasonable painting range which is suitable for the aperture size and magnet gap can be selected. Since the real field uniformity of BH3 and BV3 is not completely in conformity with the design requirement, the painting method and painting range also need to be selected to reduce the effects of bad field uniformity.

Study on the injection optimization and transverse coupling for CSNS/RCS

The injection system of the China Spallation Neutron Source uses H- stripping and phase space painting method to fill large ring acceptance with the linac beam of small emittance. The emittance evolution, beam losses, and collimation efficiency during the injection procedures for different injection parameters, such as the injection emittances, starting injection time, twiss parameters and momentum spread, were studied, and then the optimized injection parameters was obtained. In addition, the phase space painting scheme which also affect the emittance evolution and beam losses were simulated and the optimization range of phase space painting were obtained. There will be wobble in the power supply of the injection bumps, and the wobble effects were presented. In order to study the transverse coupling, the injection procedures for different betatron tunes and momentum spreads were studied.

The effects of injection beam parameters and foil scattering for CSNS/RCS

The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) uses H- stripping and phase space painting method to fill large ring acceptance with the linac beam of small emittance. The dependence of the painting beam on the injection beam parameters was studied for the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS) of CSNS. The injection processes for different momentum spread, rms emittance of the injection beam, injection beam matching were simulated, then the beam losses, 99% and rms emittances were obtained and the optimized ranges of injection beam parameters were given. The interaction between the H- beam and the stripping foil was studied and the foil scattering was simulated. Then, the stripping efficiency was calculated and the suitable thickness of the stripping foil was obtained. The energy deposition on the foil and the beam losses due to the foil scattering were also studied.
