The singularity category of an exact category applied to characterize Gorenstein schemes

We study singularity categories of exact categories with a focus on those associated to a complete hereditary cotorsion pair. As an application we identify a non-affine analogue of the singularity category of a Gorenstein local ring; with this Buchweitz's classic equivalence of three categories over Gorenstein local rings has been generalized to schemes, a project started by Murfet and Salarian more than ten years ago. As another application we use the framework to characterize rings of finite finitistic dimension.

Gluing compactly generated t-structures over stalks of affine schemes

We show that compactly generated t-structures in the derived category of a commutative ring $R$ are in a bijection with certain families of compactly generated t-structures over the local rings $R_\mathfrak{m}$ where $\mathfrak{m}$ runs through the maximal ideals in the Zariski spectrum $\mathrm{Spec}(R)$. The families are precisely those satisfying a gluing condition for the associated sequence of Thomason subsets of $\mathrm{Spec}(R)$. As one application, we show that the compact generation of a homotopically smashing t-structure can be checked locally over localizations at maximal ideals. In combination with a result due to Balmer and Favi, we conclude that the $\otimes$-Telescope Conjecture for a quasi-coherent and quasi-separated scheme is a stalk-local property. Furthermore, we generalize the results of Trlifaj and Şahinkaya and establish an explicit bijection between cosilting objects of cofinite type over $R$ and compatible families of cosilting objects of cofinite type over all localizations $R_\mathfrak{m}$ at maximal primes.

2-recollements of singualrity categories and Gorenstein defect categories over triangular matrix algebras

Let $T=(A,M,0,B)$ be a triangular matrix algebra with its corner algebras $A$ and $B$ Artinian and $_AM_B$ an $A$-$B$-bimodule. The 2-recollement structures for singularity categories and Gorenstein defect categories over $T$ are studied. Under mild assumptions, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existences of 2-recollements of singularity categories and Gorenstein defect categories over $T$ relative to those of $A$ and $B$. Parts of our results strengthen and unify the corresponding work in [27,28,34].

Avramov-Martsinkovsky type exact sequences for extriangulated categories

Let $(\mathcal{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an extriangulated category with a proper class $ξ$ of $\mathbb{E}$-triangles. In this paper, we first introduce the $ξ$-Gorenstein cohomology in terms of $ξ$-$\mathcal{G}$projective resolutions and $ξ$-$\mathcal{G}$injective coresolutions, respectively, and then we get the balance of $ξ$-Gorenstein cohomology. Moreover, we study the interplay among $ξ$-cohomology, $ξ$-Gorenstein cohomology and $ξ$-complete cohomology, and obtain the Avramov-Martsinkovsky type exact sequences in this setting.

Gorenstein projective modules and recollements over triangular matrix rings

Let $T=\left( \begin{array}{cc} R & M 0 & S \end{array} \right) $ be a triangular matrix ring with $R$ and $S$ rings and $_RM_S$ an $R$-$S$-bimodule. We describe Gorenstein projective modules over $T$. In particular, we refine a result of Enochs, Cortés-Izurdiaga and Torrecillas [Gorenstein conditions over triangular matrix rings, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 218 (2014), no. 8, 1544-1554]. Also, we consider when the recollement of $\mathbb{D}^b(T{\text-} Mod)$ restricts to a recollement of its subcategory $\mathbb{D}^b(T{\text-} Mod)_{fgp}$ consisting of complexes with finite Gorenstein projective dimension. As applications, we obtain recollements of the stable category $\underline{T{\text-} GProj}$ and recollements of the Gorenstein defect category $\mathbb{D}_{def}(T{\text-} Mod)$.

Lattice Theoretic Properties of Aprroximating Ideals

It is proved that a finite intersection of special preenveloping ideals in an exact category $({\mathcal A}; {\mathcal E})$ is a special preenveloping ideal. Dually, a finite intersection of special precovering ideals is a special precovering ideal. A counterexample of Happel and Unger shows that the analogous statement about special preenveloping subcategories does not hold in classical approximation theory. If the exact category has exact coproducts, resp., exact products, these results extend to intersections of infinite families of special peenveloping, resp., special precovering, ideals. These techniques yield the Bongartz-Eklof-Trlifaj Lemma: if $a \colon A \to B$ is a morphism in ${\mathcal A},$ then the ideal $a^{\perp}$ is special preenveloping. This is an ideal version of the Eklof-Trlifaj Lemma, but the proof is based on that of Bongartz' Lemma. The main consequence is that the ideal cotorsion pair generated by a small ideal is complete.

Proper classes and Gorensteinness in extriangulated categories

Extriangulated categories were introduced by Nakaoka and Palu as a simultaneous generalization of exact categories and triangulated categories. A notion of proper class in an extriangulated category is defined in this paper. Let $\mathcal{C}$ be an extriangulated category and $ξ$ a proper class in $\mathcal{C}$. We prove that $\mathcal{C}$ admits a new extriangulated structure. This construction gives extriangulated categories which are neither exact categories nor triangulated categories. Moreover, we introduce and study $ξ$-Gorenstein projective objects in $\mathcal{C}$ and demonstrate that $ξ$-Gorenstein projective objects share some basic properties with Gorenstein projective objects in module categories or in triangulated categories. In particular, we refine a result of Asadollahi and Salarian [Gorenstein objects in triangulated categories, J. Algebra 281(2004), 264-286]. As an application, the $ξ$-$\mathcal{G}$projective model structures on extriangulated categories are obtained.

Tate-Vogel and relative cohomologies of complexes with respect to cotorsion pairs

We study Tate-Vogel and relative cohomologies of complexes by applying the model structure induced by a complete hereditary cotorsion pair ($\A$, $\B$) of modules. We show first that the class of complexes admitting a complete $\A$ resolution is exactly the class of complexes with finite Gorenstein $\A$ dimension. This lets us give general techniques for computing Tate-Vogel cohomoloies of complexes with finite Gorenstein $\A$ dimension. As a consequence, relative cohomology groups for complexes with finite Gorenstein $\A$ dimension are investigated. Finally, the relationships between Gorenstein $\A$ dimensions and $\A$ dimensions for complexes are given.
